Maybe like me – you’re already anticipating the emotional roller coaster you will ride this weekend.
I’ve been: a biological mother, an adoptive mother, a foster-mother, a mother-in-law, and a substitute-mother.
I’ve had: a mother, a mother-in-law, and many mom role models.
I’ve been pregnant and I’ve known the pain of infertility.
Some of you have had: miscarriages, abortions, and children who’ve died.
Others have given children to adoption.
The mother – child relationship brings out an immense range of emotions, because any time we love deeply our hearts are at risk.
Don’t assume every woman you meet is happy this weekend.
Don’t assume you can possibly understand another women’s emotions.
Don’t assume anything – Love, Listen, and Pray
Love with compassion and without judgment.
Listen with caring patience and a tender heart.
Pray for mothers and children everywhere.
Father, Since Eve gave birth to Cain and Abel motherhood has carried every possible emotion. Please be with us Lord. Help us to love each other. Forgive us for judging our sisters. Forgive us for judging their children. We are sorry. We need you. Help us to love each other with kindness and compassion. Help us to love all children following Jesus example. Help us to listen to each other. Really listen with caring patience and tender hearts.
Father, we pray that You will meet our needs. Please heal hurting hearts. Please heal fractured families. Please meet the needs of all mothers and children . . . physical, emotional, and spiritual. Be with us. Use us. Bless us. In Jesus name. Amen.
