Romans 8 overflows with Bible Promises—words of hope and peace that assure us of God's love and help us focus on the things that will bless and encourage. #BibleQuotes #Promises #Faith #Blessings

My favorite chapter of the Bible is John 17. It blesses my faith every time I read I read Jesus prayer for His followers to be safe, strong, and united.

Rev’s favorite chapter is Romans 8, and honestly it is a close second for me . . . a chapter full of God’s promises to give us hope and peace.

It begins:

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:1

Because you and I trust Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we have been declared—”NOT GUILTY!”

And it’s not just a pronouncement. God acted on it. Romans 8:15 tells us that God has taken us from “death row” and adopted us as His own children.

You have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”

Romans 8:26 says the Spirit lifts prayers for us even when we can’t put our prayers into words.

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.

And Romans 8:28 promises that God is always at work in our lives:

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Romans 8:31-32 gives us a resounding statement of the victory you and I have in and through Jesus:

What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?

Finally, maybe the most wonderful Bible promise of them all is Romans 8:38–39:

I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.  No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Let’s take a minute to thank and praise God for giving us the Bible full of His promises to encourage us.

A Prayer Thanking God for His Bible Promises

Father, thank you for the blessing of Your Word. Thank you for inspiring writers to tell Your truth that people of all generations might know the depth of Your love. Thank you for Your Bible Promises.

Promises that tell me who You are, what You’ve done, and what You continue to do. Promises that give me hope and strength. Promises that wrap me in Your love, care, and compassion. Promises that tell me that Your love is so great that You chose to sacrifice Your only Son to save us from sin, death, and the power of the enemy. Your love is so great that You promise absolutely nothing can separate me from it . . . and Jesus is the evidence of that perfect, forever, lasting love.

You love me. You are for me. You have made me Your child. You have given me victory.

How can I begin to THANK YOU! Words are not enough! So, on this day and every day, I give myself to You because I love You and trust Your will for me. By the power of Your Spirit, help me trust Your plans, follow where You lead, and faithfully obey Your commands. Help me live Your love out loud in ways that bring glory to Your name. Amen.

Paul wrote in his letter to the Philippians:

Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Philippians 4:8

One of the best ways to do that is to memorize Bible Promises to fill our hearts and minds when we’re tempted to think about the things that are less than excellent and worthy of praise. And these verses from Romans 8 are wonderful words to include.

And just for fun . . . I’d love it if you would share a verse that you’ve memorized in the comments.

On today’s note write:

The Bible promises that God’s love is greater than we can imagine.

God bless you today as you rest in His love and hold on to His promises.

  1. Meme Signor says:

    Luke 6: 37-38
Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shake together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

    1. Oh wow, can you imagine the difference it would make in our world if everyone made the decision to live those words out loud? Thanks so much for sharing them. God bless you!

  2. Jean Godfrey says:

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me

    1. That’s especially helpful on the hard days, isn’t it, Jean? Thanks so much for visiting and for sharing your verse. God bless!

  3. One of my favorite verses is, “Be still and know that I am God”. So few words, but it says so much when you think about it. I repeat it over and over, when I’m fearful or anxious.

    1. Thanks, Marty! This is such a powerful verse. I love what the Life Application Notes say… War and destruction are inevitable but so is God’s final victory. At that time, all will stand quietly before the all-powerful Lord. How proper, then, for us to be still now, reverently honoring him and his power and majesty.

He truly is worthy of all our praise. God be with you and bless you!

      1. Thank you and God bless you and yours

  4. Melanie Winter says:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything,by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

    1. Oh, Melanie, this is definitely another one of my verses. God has proven it to be true in my life more times than I can count. God bless you!

  5. Martha Brown says:

I’m wonderfully blessed by your teachings from the Word of God and your prayers. I read from Monday to Friday and look forward these inspiring messages.
May God continue to bless both you and Rev. as you inspiring myself and others.
One of my favorite Bible verses is Luke Ch 10 v 19 Behold I give you power to tread upon serpents and scorpions and upon all power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means harm you.

    1. Thank you, Martha! I’m so glad you visit often. What a kind encouragement you’ve given me. That’s a great verse and not one that gets shared very often. Thanks so much for adding it to the conversation. God bless you!

  6. Amanda Mallard says:

Thank you, Deb! And, thank you for the ask to share. I love reading what others use for their strength. For me, I love Psalm 23. It has helped me so much. I shall fear no evil, for He is with me! Or, at least I will remind myself this when the fear inevitably finds it’s way in… As a matter of fact, I decided long ago that singing happy birthday or the alphabet song to make sure you wash your hands long enough is incredibly meaningless and started saying the 23rd Psalm instead. It’s a good reminder of His Love throughout the day. FYI, “You anoint my head with oil” is around the 20 second mark. 😉 I know His Goodness and Love will follow us all of the days of our lives and I will forever dwell in the house of the Lord! Thank you again and God bless!! ???? ???? ????

    1. I agree, Amanda. It’s been fun to read everyone’s verses. I love your way of remembering Psalm 23. That’s awesome. My mom used to recite it in her head as she drifted off to sleep each night. The Spirit has blessed so many of us with God’s peace through those words. Thanks so much for sharing this! God bless you!

    1. “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” That’s one of my favorites too, Gloria! Blessings!

  7. Barbara Farrell says:

Like Martha I read you most everyday and when I can’t I save the email and read later. Thank you, Deb, for this wonderful ministry. You help so many of us and are a true blessing. Here is one of mine:

“He is only my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken” Psalm 62

    Grace and peace, Barbara

    1. Kathie Schrieber says:

      Hi Deb,
Got a little behind with company. Have always enjoyed your daily devotionals & am loving reading through the Bible this time with them.
      I will also add to the verses;
      Jeremiah 29:11???? always a favorite!

      1. I hope you enjoyed your time with your company. Thanks for blessing me with your encouragement. It is a much-needed kindness today. I love Jeremiah 29:11 too. Thanks again. God bless you!

    2. Thank you, Barbara! God used you today to give me the blessing of some much-needed encouragement. I love that verse! Blessings to you!

  8. Heidi Herbruck says:

    Philippians 4:4-9
Rejoice in the Lord ALWAYS; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known TO EVERYONE. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in EVERYTHING by PRAYER and supplication with THANKSGIVING let your requests be made known to God. AND THE PEACE OF GOD, WHICH SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING, WILL GUARD YOUR HEARTS AND YOUR MINDS IN CHRIST JESUS.
Finally, brothers, whatever is TRUE, whatever is HONORABLE, whatever is JUST, whatever is PURE, whatever is LOVELY, whatever is COMMENDABLE, IF THERE IS ANY EXCELLENCE, IF THERE IS ANYTHING WORTHY OF PRAISE, THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS. … PRACTICE THESE THINGS, AND THE GOD OF PEACE WILL BE WITH YOU.

    1. What great verses! They are some of Rev’s favorites as well. Thanks for joining the conversation, Heidi! God be with you!

  9. There are so many wonderful verses in the. Bible, the one I tell myself regularly is “Do not Judge”. Thank Deb for your time and effort and love.

    1. Thank you, Angela! That would be a great verse for all of us to repeat to ourselves often! God bless you!
