Children Love to Pray – Lucado Treasury of Bedtime Prayers

Sharing is caring!

I grew up saying:

Now I lay me down to sleep.
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
And hold me in Your arms so tight
until I see the morning light.

We added our thanks from the day,
special prayers, and blessings for loved ones.

We prayed it with our children
and
they are praying it with our grandchildren.

I wonder…

Do you want to pray more with your children?

Lucado Treasury of Bedtime Prayers

Max and Denalyn Lucado write a letter to parents at the beginning of the book.

We’d like our children to be treated nicely, honestly, gently, and respectfully. But we know better. We know what awaits them. Feelings get hurt. Hearts get broken. Tears flow. Friends go. However much we’d like to spare our children the struggles of life, we can’t.

But we can do this: we can teach them to pray. We can teach them to talk to God about everything, anything, any time, and all the time. We can’t promise an easy life, but we can equip them to face life. We can’t be with them always, but God can. So . . .

The rest of the letter will inspire and encourage you as
you teach your child to be a child of prayer.

A couple of my favorite prayers from the book:

You Love Me, Jesus!

Jesus, You love me so much!

You love me when I’m grumpy,
You love me when I’m mean.
You love me morning, noon, and night,
And all times in between.

You love me when I’m happy,
You love me when I’m sad.
Because You love me all the time,
Then all the time I”m glad.

Big and Great!

God, You are big,
God, You are great.
You know all that I feel.
You know all that I think.

You know when I’m happy.
And You know when I’m hurt.
When I’m happy, You’re happy.
And when I hurt, You hurt.

You make me smile when I’m sad,
And You wipe my tears away.
You do all these things, God,
Because You are big and great.

I am thankful to have an opportunity to tell
you about it, and share it with my grandchildren.

This would make a perfect gift for your favorite little person.
