2 Awesome Ways to Get Ready for Wonderful

Sharing is caring!

Life is hard. I want wonderful, but there are things that get in the way. Want to know what they are and how to be rid of them

Are you breathing in wonderful? Focusing on the ways God is creating life around you? Inhaling blessings?

Stop for a moment.

Paul had a couple of things followers of Jesus should do in anticipation of breathing in wonderful…

So put away all pride from yourselves. You are standing under the powerful hand of God. At the right time He will lift you up. Give all your worries to Him because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6–7

2 Awesome Ways to Get Ready for Wonderful

Put Away (get rid of) Your Pride – Everyone struggles with pride. If you don’t think you have a pride problem . . . you do. Our human nature comes with “ME” motivation. The problem is we compare ourselves to each other. It’s easy to find someone to criticize or judge when we’re looking horizontally. But…

Stop and look vertically at the perfect God of the universe and we end up flat on our faces humbled. Emptied of the stuff that puffs us up.

As His child we trust Him to lift us up . . . to offer us wonderful.

Give Him All Your Worry – That’s hard isn’t it? For some reason, I still foolishly stress over things, play out a list of possibilities, oh yeah, then repeat often. But…

To give, turn over, or cast (as it’s translated in the NIV) is a conscious decision. The Greek word is – Rhipto, which means to throw quickly like a javelin. We’re to let go of our worry—fast.

What exactly is worry? It’s brooding or continuing to think troubling thoughts.

Can you imagine how much peace we’d enjoy if we immediately threw off every anxious thought to God. No more worry.

That would be wonderful!

What makes us able to fire off any and all worry?

Trusting that God cares about the details of our days.  Believing He cares about everything and anything that worries us. He is always aware. Nothing is too big. Nothing is too small.

We know that God makes all things work together for the good of those who love Him and are chosen to be a part of His plan. Romans 8:28

Simply put . . . doubt and fear.

I miss God’s wonderful when I take my eyes off Him. When I let the past haunt me. When I fear the unknown future. When I forget His promises.

Life is hard. I want wonderful, but there are things that get in the way. Want to know what they are and how to be rid of them? Are you ready for wonderful?

Promises like:

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. John 14:27

And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Matthew 6:30

What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Romans 8:31

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise. Hebrews 10:23

I want to carry His promises with me, because when I focus on His promises and His faithfulness to keep His promises I am less likely to get sucked into a pit of pride and worry. And that’s wonderful.

So I’m ready for wonderful. I’m carrying His promises, trusting who I am in light of who He is, and with His help throwing off worry.

Breathe in dear friends. Breathe in God’s wonderful. Free of pride and worry. Covered by His promises.

Join me on social media #BreathinginWonderful . . . share blessings and promises. There is so much junk in the daily, let’s make God’s wonderful as natural as breathing in and breathing out.

Are you ready for wonderful?

  1. I just love how you’ve taken all that we enjoy about God and summed it up in that phrase! His wonderful!
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His WONDERFUL!
    Deb, you’re a psalmist!

  2. I’m loving this breathing in wonderful stuff, Deb! When I read about throwing off every anxious thought to God, the first image that came to my mind (maybe because it happens so frequently) is how I throw off my covers in the middle of the night when I wake up sweating (yay for menopause!). If only I could throw my anxious thoughts off that easily-perhaps with that image now, I can!

  3. Hey Deb,

I love the idea of “getting ready for wonderful!” I love this verse, “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise.” Hebrews 10:23

We are away on a vacation this week, but I wanted to drop you a quick word.

Hope you have a great weekend~
    Melanie

  4. Giving God my worries has been what I’ve been working on the last 6 months or so. 1 Peter 5:7 “Casting all your care upon him, for he careth for you.” I’ve been claiming that verse!

  5. This is a reminder that we need daily! God has such wonderful promises that He always keeps and it is so sad how pride can take our focus off of that. Thank you so much for reminding us to “breathe in wonderful.” (I love that expression and plan to start using it, by the way!)

  6. These are 2 awesome and important tips, Deb. This one is a huge struggle for me: “Give Him All Your Worry.” I know He will take it but for some reason, I just never can give it all to Him. Worry can be truly overwhelming for me. As my faith has grown, it’s gotten a great deal better though. I know there is still hope for me :).
Thanks so much for sharing my post. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
