Day 4 – God, Please Help Me Forgive When It’s Hard

| |

Sharing is caring!

In all honesty, it’s just hard to forgive sometimes.

It’s easier when the offense has no lasting consequences but when living out the aftermath of someone’s offense goes on and on and on and there’s a daily reminder … well, those are the times I just don’t want to forgive.

But Jesus didn’t say, forgive when you want to or forgive when it’s easy, He said:

“When you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.” Mark 11:25

So, today I’m asking…

A prayer asking God to please help me forgive when it's hard and I don't want to because forgiving isn't about the offender it's about loving like Jesus. #MountainMovingPrayers #Forgiveness #Faith #BlessingCounter #Bible

God, Please Help Me Forgive When It’s Hard

Father, I want Your forgiveness. I need Your forgiveness yet again, today!

Jesus told us to pray like this…

Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Luke 11:14

On my own, that’s hard and truthfully, there are some things, some people … I just don’t want to forgive.

I need You…

Please, help me forgive!

Because forgiveness isn’t about what did or did not happen, forgiveness is about love.

Your Word says:

Since God chose you to be the holy people He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Colossians 3:12–13

When I think about … yes, REALLY THINK about all the ways I’ve fallen short of Your will and the countless times You have forgiven me, simply because You are gracious and merciful. Because You are love!

Forgiveness is love! And love is why You sent Your Son to suffer punishment for my offenses.

Each day, I tell You, “I love You!”

And Your Spirit prompts me with the Words:

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” John 14:15

Including the one that tells me to forgive—even when it’s hard and I don’t want to.

Father, please help me forgive!

It is only with Your help, that I can do the things I don’t want to do, the things that are hard. With Your help, I can choose to obey and surrender my will to Yours. With Your help, I can do the impossible.

Jesus said, “What is impossible for people is possible with God.” Luke 18:27

Father, with Your help, I can love like Jesus! I can forgive like Jesus!

When I remember how graciously You have forgiven me, with Your help, I can…

Please help me forgive!

In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.

  1. Forgiveness of others is absolutely necessary. We may not forget the hurt a person caused us, but we need to forgive them in love, and move on. And yes, saying it is one thing, and doing it is another. With God’s help, though, we can!
    Blessings, Deb!
