“Everything that is done in the world is done by hope.”
~
Martin Luther

What exactly is hope?

It’s defined as:
1. The feeling that what is wanted can be had
or that events will turn out for the best
2. To look forward to with desire and reasonable confidence.
3. To wish for something with expectation of fulfillment.
4. To believe, desire, or trust.

It has been said that…

A man can live about 40 days without food
About 3 days without water
About 8 minutes without air
But not for 1 second without hope!

Hope helps you endure when life is hard. Hope believes things will get better. Hope gives courage to get out of bed even on bad days. Hope makes you able to try the impossible even when you want to quit.

Do you have hope?

I don’t believe hope is, “pie in the sky by and by.” I am a realist. A hope-filled realist.

I haven’t always been hopeful even though I’ve always believed in Jesus as my Savior. You see my hope has grown as faith has become trust.

My hope is found in the truth that God always has and always will keep His promises. God’s promises give me hope.

Promises like:

Commit everything you do to the LordTrust Him, and He will help you. Psalm 37:5

This truth gives them confidence that they have eternal life, which God—who does not lie—promised them before the world began. Titus 1:2

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise. What a blessing it is to know that God is pleased when we wait on Him with hope. Hebrews 10:23

In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in His holy name. Let Your unfailing love surround us, Lordfor our hope is in You alone. Psalm 33:21–22

God’s hope will never disappoint. Because His love never fails.

This hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love. When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Romans 5:5–6

His love never fails.

(Put your name in the blank.) His love never fails _________!

Even when circumstances are difficult, His love never fails.

God loves you, and promises to give you hope.

We foolishly put our hope in all kinds of things; beauty, charm, knowledge, position, power, wealth, and other people. Things that don’t last.

God’s hope lasts. Forever. We can trust it because He keeps His promises. Always has and always will. He has proven Himself to be faithful and true.

Jesus said, “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.”  John 14:1

Dear Ones—He loves you. You can trust Him. His promises are true and full of hope.

A few last thoughts.

“What gives me the most hope every day is God’s grace; knowing that his grace is going to give me the strength for whatever I face, knowing that nothing is a surprise to God.” ~Rick Warren

“Darkness comes. In the middle of it, the future looks blank. The temptation to quit is huge. Don’t. You are in good company… You will argue with yourself that there is no way forward. But with God, nothing is impossible. He has more ropes and ladders and tunnels out of pits than you can conceive. Wait. Pray without ceasing. Hope.” John Piper

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

  1. In him I put my trust. I will not loose hope. He is my blessed assurance. Nothing else will do. There is none like him.
