Feel Forsaken? Know that God Can Do the Impossible with the Improbable

Do you know anyone who has been rejected by family or friends because of their faith? Maybe you’re the one who is considered “weird” or overboard because you take God at His Word and trust His promises. Do you feel forsaken Alone?

Many Bible scholars believe that when Paul, a Pharisee and “Jew among Jews,” became a Christian . . . his family disowned him. Paul wrote in his letter to the Philippians that he lost everything for the cause of Christ. (Philippians 3:8)

But in Acts 23 we learn that Paul had at least one relative who stepped up to save Paul’s life when he heard of a plan to murder him.

But Paul’s nephew—his sister’s son—heard of their plan and went to the fortress and told Paul.

Acts 23:16

Paul shared his nephew’s message with a Roman officer who took him to the Roman commander:

Paul’s nephew told him, “Some Jews are going to ask you to bring Paul before the high council tomorrow, pretending they want to get some more information. But don’t do it! There are more than forty men hiding along the way ready to ambush him. They have vowed not to eat or drink anything until they have killed him. They are ready now, just waiting for your consent.”

Acts 23:20–21

And the commander ordered 200 soldiers and 70 mounted troops to escort Paul safely to Governor Felix for trial.

God did the impossible with the improbable.

Paul had not been completely deserted by his family. And his nephew played an important role in protecting Paul’s life. God can use anyone of any age to accomplish His plans and purposes. Through this young man, God demonstrated that He had a plan for Paul’s protection.

You may feel alone, rejected, and deserted by coworkers, friends, and family. But God is faithfully at work in your life and He may completely surprise you by using the person you least expect to help.

Just when you need it most the Lord might amaze you with someone’s unexpected care and concern. Don’t give up. God can do the impossible with the improbable.

A Prayer Trusting God to Do
the Impossible with the Improbable

Father, thank you for giving us Your Word to guide and encourage us. Thank you for making it possible for us to know how You have consistently and faithfully worked through the lives of people . . . people who had challenges, emotions, pain, loss . . . life. Solomon wrote that there is nothing new under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 1:9) You promised that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8) And that nothing is impossible for You. (Jeremiah 32:27)

When I feel like all is lost. When I’ve been rejected. When I’m broken, hurting, and alone . . . You are with me. You are always at work accomplishing Your plans and purposes. You are able to use the people I least expect in ways that surprise me. You do the impossible with the improbable.

Lord, I surrender to You my pain and frustration. I give You my broken heart and my fear. I bring my burdens to You and ask You to help me carry it all. Teach me. Guide me. Help me. I place my faith and my hope in You. Please be with me and help me live each day for Your glory. Amen.

When you and I feel like all is lost – God is doing the impossible.
When we feel forsaken – God is using the improbable.

No matter how we feel – the truth is—GOD IS! He is—I AM!

He is King of kings and Lord of lords. He is greater than our circumstances and more than we can hope for or imagine. And He is always at work in your life and mine.

He promised.

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Deuteronomy 31:8

On today’s note write:

God is able to do the impossible with the improbable.

May God be with you and hold you close. May He faithfully remind you that He will never leave you nor forsake. He is with you.
