Who is Jesus to you A collection of quotes and verses that answer the question, Who do people say that I am

Yesterday I wrote about the importance of having a God-first life.

I often talk about the blessings I’ve found in my relationship with God. How He has changed me and taught me about unconditional forever love and given me joy, peace, contentment, and so much more.

Many talk about God. Many believe in God.

But there is only one way to have a God-first life . . . Jesus Christ—God’s Son, the final “yes” and “Amen.”

Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection makes possible a relationship with God.

Jesus – God-Man, Perfect Love, Truth, and Promise

[Tweet “”Jesus is God spelling Himself out in language that men can understand.” ~S.D. Gordon”]

In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1

“The gifts of the Master are these: freedom, life, hope, new direction, transformation, and intimacy with God. If the cross was the end of the story, we would have no hope. But the cross isn’t the end. Jesus didn’t escape from death; He conquered it and opened the way to heaven for all who will dare to believe. The truth of this moment, if we let it sweep over us, is stunning. It means Jesus really is who he claimed to be, we are really as lost as he said we are, and he really is the only way for us to intimately and spiritually connect with God again.” ~Steven James

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20

“We sinned for no reason but an incomprehensible lack of love, and He saved us for no reason but an incomprehensible excess of love.” ~Peter Kreeft

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29

“Jesus Christ came not to condemn you but to save you, knowing your name, knowing all about you, knowing your weight right now, knowing your age, knowing what you do, knowing where you live, knowing what you ate for supper and what you will eat for breakfast, where you will sleep tonight, how much your clothing cost, who your parents were. He knows you individually as though there were not another person in the entire world. He died for you as certainly as if you had been the only lost one. He knows the worst about you and is the One who loves you the most.” ~ A.W.Tozer

For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is Himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us. John 1:17–18

“The best news of the Christian gospel is that the supremely glorious Creator of the universe has acted in Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection to remove every obstacle between us and Himself so that we may find everlasting joy in seeing and savoring His infinite beauty.” ~John Piper

Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12

“God will answer all our questions in one way and one way only. Namely, by showing us more of His Son.” ~Watchman Nee

Jesus. Lord and Savior. I trust You. I surrender my life to You. You are my “Yes” and “Amen.”

  1. Jason Stasyszen says:

So many good quotes and important thoughts. Really loved this one: “We sinned for no reason but an incomprehensible lack of love, and He saved us for no reason but an incomprehensible excess of love.” Sinning is a lack of love. Knowing the love of Christ, receiving and returning it back to Him is crucial. Great post, Deb. Thank you!

  2. had never read Peter Kreeft’s quote. Loved it! It is incomprehensible to me for sure.

  3. Jesus is my “yes” and “amen”, too, Deb. I loved all the quotes here, but am standing with Jason and Bill on the one by Peter Kreeft. Truly, this says it all!
    Blessings!
