Are you guilty of thinking you can multitask well, only to make a mess of things? Me too! I trying these 7 things to help me live in the moment. #Focus #LiveNow #BibleStudy #Faith #Blessings

Have you turned multitasking into an art form?

Is your middle name – Worry? Regret? Fear? Anxiety?

Albert Einstein defined insanity as: “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

Are you ready for a change? One that will stop the insanity?

Here are some things that I have found helpful…

7 Things that will Help You Live in the Moment

1. Simplify your life – Less = more. I know it seems impossible, but the truth is simplifying your life will give you more. Less stuff. Fewer activities and commitments. Less to maintain and less to do equals more time, more peace, and greater happiness.

“Simplicity is ultimately a matter of focus.” ~Ann Voskamp

2. Prioritize everything – Have each person in your family make a list of what they love. Relationships. Activities. Stuff. (Come back tomorrow when we’ll talk more about how to prioritize.)

“Most of us spend too much time on what is urgent and not enough time on what is important.” ~Stephen Covey

3. Do one thing at a time – Focus! If you’re like me you believe you can finish a project, watch TV, and chat with a friend, while making dinner. It doesn’t work! Relax. Breath. Do one thing at a time. You will finish it faster. Do a better job. Feel more relaxed. And enjoy greater satisfaction by living in the moment.

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

Colossians 3:23

4. Make it fresh – This is especially true for those things you do often like laundry, dishes, driving to and from work, getting the kids ready for bed . . . change it up a little. Find some new music. Listen to a recorded book. Make it fun by adding a game. Anything that will engage you and turn tedium into a treat.

A glad heart makes a happy face; a broken heart crushes the spirit.

Proverbs 15:13

5. Savor the moment – Minutes fly by unless of course, you’re at the dentist. Most of us spend the majority of our time living in the past or the future. Stop and live in the moment . . . right now. Truly experience what’s happening. Good and bad. Bad moments will become learning experiences that will help you appreciate good moments more. Look at everything as if you are experiencing it for the first time.

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” ~Eleanor Roosevelt

6. Let go of the past – Letting go of the past is not saying what happened is okay or unimportant. It’s saying that you are more important. It’s admitting that your emotional health and your happiness are more important than holding onto the past with a vice-like grip. Forgive yourself. Forgive your offender. Surrender it all to God’s care and keeping.

“The beautiful journey of today can only begin when we learn to let go of yesterday.” ~Steve Maraboli

7. Give it all to God, with thanks – And while you’re surrendering past pain, go ahead and give God your worry, anxiety, schedule, frustration, and those people who are constantly on your last nerve. Give it all to God and thank Him for His willingness to carry your junk-filled bags for you. Thank and worship Him for this moment, this breath, this present.

Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His faithful love endures forever.

Psalm 136:1

This moment – it’s all good and even if it doesn’t feel like it’s good . . . it’s temporary and it will pass.

And as you go through it, the Lord is with you.

Every moment! He will never leave you. He will never forsake you.

He cares for you and about you. You are His precious child.

So, celebrate…

The best people can do here on earth is to eat, drink, and enjoy life, because these joys will help them do the hard work God gives them here on earth.

Ecclesiastes 8:15

Focus, celebrate, and live in the moment. It’s a gift from Father God.

We would love to pray for you.

  1. I think one great thing to do, akin to #5, is to realize the good that you’re accomplishing in each moment – even the ordinary ones. You’re serving others, loving God, enjoying his creation and glorifying him – when we see our moments that way, it’s hard not to slow down and be appreciative of them.
