Some of the reasons why you should live with enthusiasm . . . the things that will help you live with joy and bless you every single day. #Livewithenthusiasm #Joy #Blessings #Attitude

Imagine . . . you’ve dreamt about it forever and saved for as long as you can remember. You’ve planned, packed, and purchased.

Finally, it’s time and you’re so excited. Tired and a little stressed, but still very excited.

This is it. Time with the family at __insert dream destination here__

You’re ready to make memories.

When your teen looks up from her phone, rolls her eyes, and says, “How long is this going to take?”

What do you do?

1. Allow your anger to go on a rant.

2. Let disappointment suck the joy out of the day.

3. Give up and wonder why you even try.

4. Stay enthusiastic and pray it rubs off on everyone else.

Why should you and I live with enthusiasm? What difference does it make?

God is the author of enthusiasm and He wants us to live with enthusiasm.

Look at creation . . . color, variety, beauty. God’s enthusiasm is everywhere.

Then God looked over all He had made, and He saw that it was very good!

Genesis 1:31

God is the source of enthusiasm.

The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust Him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.

Psalm 28:7

The Greek word for enthusiasm is EN (in) +THEOS (god) which means “the Spirit of God within.”

Enthusiasm is a blessing from God and living with enthusiasm shows our gratitude.

It’s time for an attitude check.

So stop often and ask yourself the following two questions:

1. Do I currently live with enthusiasm?
2. Does it show?

Lord, please help me to realize that enthusiasm comes from You, and help me live with enthusiasm in ways that glorify You and bless the people You place around me. Amen.

  1. It is your favorite word! Isn’t it fun to know that the everyone is challenged to live it out loud this week? Enjoy and celebrate! Blessings and Hugs!

  2. Hi Deb! Must be a theme…I have a little eye-rolling going on in my post today too!
I tend to be on the ‘low key’ side. Outward enthusiasm you might not see, but I am very joyful on the inside! Having enthusiasm for what God is calling me to be and do is a daily choice, because sometimes it doesn’t come naturally. I might not like what he picked too much…but he wants me dive in!
A good attitude can carry me through hard times. It’s an emotional life-saver!

    Happy Labor Day 🙂

    1. It sounds like you know yourself well, Ceil. And I’ll bet those who are close to you say your enthusiasm shines. I see it in your writing. You’re right on choosing an attitude that carries us through. Praising God for the gift of strength on the hard days. Blessings to you!

  3. I had no idea it’s International Enthusiasm Week, but it’s good to know! I’ll be watching more for God’s enthusiasm (I don’t know that I’ve intentionally looked for that before). And choose to add my own. Great post, Deb.

    1. Thanks Lisa! I loved your post today on compassion and accepting our differences. I love the enthusiasm and variety God built into creation. Definitely worth celebrating!

  4. God has been talking with me, too, about abundance. And I think enthusiasm fits right in. First, that He is enthusiastic about ME and about pouring out His blessings. Still, as you point out, our own enthusiasm is a choice. Thank you for these insights. Thank you for linking with Unforced Rhythms.

    1. I agree Beth . . . abundance and enthusiasm go hand in hand. Especially when we remember that He is always abundant in the things we need the most. Grace. Mercy. Love. Thanks for hosting us at Unforced Rhythms each week.
