Lord, the Church Needs Your Help to Trust and Obey

On Monday of Holy Week, Jesus cleared the Temple of merchants and money changers.

Jesus entered the Temple and began to drive out all the people buying and selling animals for sacrifice. He knocked over the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those selling doves. He said to them, “The Scriptures declare, ‘My Temple will be called a house of prayer,’ but you have turned it into a den of thieves!”

Matthew 21:12–13

The Life Application Bible notes say…

Their (merchants and money changers) commercialism in God’s house frustrated people’s attempts at worship … Any practice that interferes with worshiping God should be stopped.

So today, we’re praying…

On Monday, Jesus cleared the Temple Courtyard. I'm asking God to help the church to trust and obey His will. #Prayer #God'sWill #BibleStudy #CountingMyBlessings

Lord, the Church Needs Your Help to Trust and Obey

Lord, when Peter professed…

“You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

Matthew 16:16

You said that he was blessed because Your Father had revealed this truth to him and…

…upon this rock I will build my church

Matthew 16:18

You are the foundation of the church, Jesus, and we Your people make up that church.

You prayed for us…

I am in them and You are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that You sent me and that You love them as much as You love me.

John 17:23

Oh, how we have failed at unity.

Please forgive us!

The Church needs Your Help. We need Your help. We need You.

The Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy…

For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.

2 Timothy 4:3

Please help us, Lord.

It’s so easy to allow culture and denominational differences to distract us and tear us apart. If we’re not diligent and discerning, we can be guilty of allowing the influences of this world to distort Your Word.

We need Your forgiveness.

We need to SEEK Your Kingdom. We need to KNOW Your Truth. We need to OBEY Your Will as Your Word reveals it to us.

By Your grace, help us to…

Seek You first. Luke 12:31
Remain faithful to Your teachings. John 8:31
Know the truth that gives freedom. John 8:32
Know and do Your will. Mark 3:35
And reach the world with Your love. John 15:9–12

Lord, fill us with Your Spirit and make us strong.

We the people of Your church are…

not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:12

Strengthen us. Fill us. Lead us. Hold us. Hear our prayers.

On Monday, Jesus cleared the Temple Courtyard. I'm asking God to help the church to trust and obey His will. #Prayer #God'sWill #BibleStudy #CountingMyBlessings

More than anything, Lord…

Help us love You fully …. with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strength. Help us love one another as You want, those who know and love You and those who don’t.

You said…

Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.

John 13:34–35

Lord, I ask that Your church will be so full of love, hope, joy, peace, goodness, faithfulness … so full of spiritual fruit that those who see us will want what we have.

May Your church today look like the church Paul counseled…

Let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom He gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

Colossians 3:16

Help us, Lord, by the power of Your Spirit, the Church needs You. Amen.

We would love to pray for you.

We must continue to pray for the Church to come back to God, by obeying the Holy Scripture. I believe some Churches are so mega that it is too overwhelming for the believers who are also members inside of these mega Churches.

It seems that the leaders are leading the sheep in what could be falling from what thus said the Lord God in scriptures.

I pray that the sheeps are also responsible for knowing what the scripture is saying, so they too take responsibility for their own lack of knowledge and do the will of God, not man.

Thank you for your time. Let’s stay prayed up for Jesus Christ. Amen

Have a Wonderful day, Believers in Christ.

    Kathleen

    1. Thank you, Kathleen! Yes, we will continue to pray for the church and for God’s truth to be taught in ways that touch lives and help us all grow closer to the Lord and to one another. Thanks so much for stopping by and for joining the conversation. God bless you!

  2. Oh, yes, how the church needs the unity and peace only Jesus can give! Deb, it does break my heart when I hear of divisions and strife in congregations. We, of all people, should be placing God’s will first in our lives, and living it out by loving our neighbors as ourselves.
    Blessings!

    1. Amen, Martha! Rev and I went to see a live performance of The Screwtape Letters, Saturday afternoon, and it was just another reminder of the ways satan is actively working to defeat and discourage God’s children through his efforts in their churches. We will just keep praying and trusting that this is a prayer God loves to answer positively. Bless you, my friend!

Thank you, sister, in the Lord .. you perhaps won’t expect someone so far away to read your daily article and be blessed! I’m one, a Jordanian 75 years old having some despair because of sleep difficulties spending long night hours crying to the Lord for rest!

Please mention me by your prayers before our Redeemer and Savior ..Thank you

      1. Oh, Jamal! What a blessing to hear from you! I am so sorry you struggle with insomnia. I have experienced several nights where I long for rest. I am praying for you today … asking God to fill you with His peace, to relax your body and mind, and help you get the sleep you need. Thank you so much for stopping to say “hello.” May God bless you!

  3. Thank you so much for this blog. I’m so blessed to have stumbled upon it! I am also seeking to make my life first about God and then about the world! I yearn for more connection to him and a relationship that I couldn’t have ever imagined. I am so loved by his mercy and his love for us. I’m moved by Jesus’ passion to have us with him in his Kingdom that he would give up his own life!

So thank you for another outlet that I may read to keep connected with HIM!

Please pray for my family and that I can help keep them Christ centered and that our family can be whole again. Pray that I can find the words to speak to my boyfriends girls so that we may have a great relationship!
