The day before Valentine’s Day is designated – Madly in Love with ME Day.
MiLwMD was launched by Christine Arylo who wrote about herself, “If you want to know something about ME, Christine Arylo, the person who founded this self-love movement because I got a message from the Universe that said, ‘Christine go out and show people how to love themselves, for real.'”
The MiLwMD Manifesto begins like this:
We believe that every woman has the right to fall madly in love herself. To be so in love with who she is, to so deeply honor her body, mind and spirit that every choice she makes reflects that same deep honoring. That she is not only entitled to love herself, she is empowered to love herself simply because she is.
So, what do you think? Are you ready to celebrate?
Recently, I read a post by Gail at One-Minute Bible Love Notes titled – Trojan Horse Lie – Loving Self First.
Do you remember the story of the Trojan Horse. When the Trojans accepted a giant “hollow” wooden horse from the Greeks believing it was a gift, and then under a cover of darkness those hidden inside the horse opened the gates to the Greek army causing the destruction of the city of Troy.
In Trojan Horse Lie – Loving Self First, Gail wrote that many Christians believe that they can’t truly love others well if they don’t love ourselves first, but that is just not a Scriptural truth.
Mark 12:31 doesn’t command us to love our neighbor’s personality or have warm feelings toward him. It commands us to treat him with the same kindness and consideration we instinctively show ourselves.
Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lordour God is the one and only Lord. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.” Mark 12:29-31
In Luke 10, Jesus words were followed with the Parable of the Good Samaritan. Jesus example taught that neighbor love does. It doesn’t always approve or agree. It acts. It helps. It cares.
I don’t have any trouble believing that God wants us to take care of ourselves. He made us. He wants us to eat a healthy diet, to use our physical abilities, to grow spiritually, to learn new things, and to be blessed by our emotions. He wants to change us to become more like Jesus. He wants to give us all we need to live in ways that give Him glory.
So one more time, what do you think? Are you ready to celebrate Madly in Love with ME Day?
Or will you join me and make February 13th – Madly in love with God Day.
Madly in love with the Father who created you, the Son (Jesus) who died and rose again to give you abundant life, and the Holy Spirit who gives you all you need to love God with all you heart, mind, soul, and strength, and love others as you love yourself.
