5 Verses to Pray When You Need Hope

Sharing is caring!

Where do you turn when you need hope? These five verses will remind you of God's love and faithfulness when you need strength to keep moving forward.

Maybe, like me, you’ve waited, hoped, and prayed and prayed and prayed.

Days, weeks, and even years go by and you feel like your prayers are stuck on the ceiling. You may even be asking yourself if you should just . . . “let it go.”

But your loved one is ill, your pain is overwhelming, a relationship is still broken, you can’t find a job . . . oh, the list can be long.

Discouragement is a hard and lonely place, isn’t it?

If you’re struggling today, crying out to God for help and hope please pray with me as I ask the Lord to restore our hope and remind us of His unfailing love…

5 Verses to Pray When You Need Hope

Zephaniah 3:17

“For the Lord, your God is living among you.
    He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
    With His love, He will calm all your fears.
    He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”

Father, My heart hurts. I’m losing hope and I’m afraid. I love you, Lord, and need to be reminded of how very much You love me. Your Word says your “goodness and mercy” will follow me all the days of my life. (Psalm 23:6) I will trust You to calm my fears as I place my hope in You. Hold me close and by Your grace help me . . . I need to know you are with me as I wait. In Jesus name, Amen.

Where do you turn when you need hope? These five verses will remind you of God's love and faithfulness when you need strength to keep moving forward.

Romans 8:38–39

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Father, Nothing? No fear, no problem, no failure . . . nothing can separate me from Your love. Father, forgive me. I’m sorry. How quickly I listen to Satan’s lies and doubt You. How easily I give him power over my thoughts and lose hope. Please, by the power of Your Spirit, help me trust Your promises like these words from Paul. Fill me with Your truth as I study Your Word and turn to You in prayer. Remind me that I have all I need in and through Jesus in whose name I pray. Amen.

Lamentations 3:22–23

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
    His mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.

Father, Your mercy is never-ending. I fail and You are faithful. You forgive me again and again. You don’t give me the punishment I deserve because by Your grace You punished Your Son, Jesus, in my place. I come to You in repentance and You give me a clean slate with each new day. I can release my past to You. I can forgive those who’ve hurt and disappointed me as I remember all the love You pour over my life. Thank you. Help me and I surrender myself and my day to You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Isaiah 40:28–31

Surely you know.
    Surely you have heard.
The Lord is the God who lives forever,
    who created all the world.
He does not become tired or need to rest.
    No one can understand how great His wisdom is.
He gives strength to those who are tired
    and more power to those who are weak.
Even children become tired and need to rest,
    and young people trip and fall.
But the people who trust the Lord will become strong again.
They will rise up as an eagle in the sky;
    they will run and not need rest;
    they will walk and not become tired.

Father, You hear every prayer and work in my life with wisdom and love. When I fall, You lift me up. You give me courage to keep moving ahead on my most difficult days, You help me to run toward goals and even soar with strength and power when I’m weak and tired. Thank you! Your past faithfulness gives me hope when I’m discouraged. You are my strong Deliverer. I will trust in You! Amen.

5 Verses to Pray When You Need Hope - Counting My Blessings

Revelations 21:4–5

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more
death, sadness, crying, or pain, because all the old ways are gone.”
The One who was sitting on the throne said,
“Look! I am making everything new!”
Then He said,
“Write this, because these words are true and can be trusted.”

No more sadness, crying, or pain, Father. No more death! Jesus is on the throne and my future is secure because of Him. Even if all else fails, I have all I need today and forever because of Your love, grace, and mercy. All because of Jesus, You make my life be a song of praise. To the One who is faithful and true, Jesus, my Lord, and Savior be the glory and honor now and forever. Amen.

When my hope is in Jesus, I am never alone. And when my focus is eternal, my wait seems shorter. May you have your hope restored through the One who is always with you and loves you more than life itself.

    Deb,
    Thank you so much for this link party invite!

    For me Jeremiah 29:11 always lifts me up. When accepting Christ I remember this being my favorite verse. Me and my family have been having a not so great season and as I was reading the word I came across this verse again. I was so thankful because it reminded me how great our God is. It reminded me how the first time I came across this verse God helped me through the hardships I faced and I know God will help me through this as well.

    God Bless you Deb!
