Some days we just don't feel lovable. We're cranky. Stressed. And tired. But there is good news...

Do you have those days when you need an extra reminder of God’s love? Days you wake up in a mood that doesn’t improve, and you don’t feel lovable.

The outstanding truth is God’s love doesn’t depend on your mood or how lovable you feel. It never depends on what you do or say. It never depends on what anyone else does or says. God loves you because He chooses to. It’s His character to love and nothing can ever change that. 

God is love!  Love is who He is. 

Let’s allow the truth of God’s perfect love surround you like a warm hug by looking at…

The Characteristics of God’s Love

God’s love never fails.

He loves whatever is just and good; the unfailing love of the Lord fills the earth. Psalm 33:5

The faithful love of the Lord never ends, His mercies never cease.  Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning. Lamentations 3:22-23

Let your unfailing love surround us, LORD, for our hope is in You alone. Psalm 33:22

God’s love never ends. 

For the mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain. My covenant of blessing will never be broken,” says the LORD, who has mercy on you. Isaiah 54:10

God’s love is unconditional.

“God loves people unconditionally by providing a remedy for our breaking His laws.” ~Patheos

 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him. John 3:16–17

God’s love is undeserved.

But God is so rich in mercy, and He loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, He gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) Ephesians 2:4-5

But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8

Some days we just don't feel lovable. We're cranky. Stressed. And tired. But there is good news..

God’s love is perfect.

God showed how much He loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him.  This is real love—not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. 1 John 4:9-10  

Where God’s love is, there is no fear, because God’s perfect love takes away fear. 1 John 4:18

God’s love is powerful. 

For His unfailing love for us is powerful; the Lord’s faithfulness endures forever. Praise the Lord! Psalm 117:2

God’s love is protective.

But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress. Psalm 59:16

No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:39

Some days we just don't feel lovable. We're cranky. Stressed. And tired. But there is good news...

God’s love is personal.

Surely Your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:6

God’s love is patient.

The Lord is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. Psalm 145:8

God’s love is extravagant.

Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with Him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of Himself to us. Ephesians 5:2 (MSG)

Feel free to copy or share this list, carry it with you for hard days, and praise God for the fact that His unfailing love does not depend on how we feel.

  2. I have just loved getting to know you this week. God has used you and a couple of others to speak sweet words of, “It’s ok. Keep stepping forward,” to me. I wasn’t sure if I would be welcomed to the world of other bloggers once I started trying to “fit in.” You can learn so much about someone by the way the react to new people. I’ve learned that you are someone I want to get to know better.

I also want to thank you for all the encouragement you lavish on me in the Twitter world. I have not really thanked you but I am so grateful as you take the time to encourage me.
