Be the person you want to meet. Make a difference. In every situation ask, What does love require of me

Yesterday we talked about the important truth behind Jesus’ words, “Love your neighbor as yourself.

After you read the following quotes and verses on the subject, please set aside time to watch the message from Andy Stanley. Rev and I believe it is the best message we’ve ever seen on life in the United States. Don’t miss this! And now…

Quotes and Verses

“On the parable of the Good Samaritan: “I imagine that the first question the priest and Levite asked was: ‘If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?’ But by the very nature of his concern, the good Samaritan reversed the question: ‘If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?” ~Martin Luther King Jr.

“Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little.” ~Edmund Burke

Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection,[e] and take delight in honoring each other. Romans 12:9–10

“There is no limit to the amount of good you can do if you don’t care who gets the credit.” ~Ronald Reagan

“This is the true joy in life — being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap; being a force of nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.” ~George Bernard Shaw

“Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” John 13:15

“In about the same degree as you are helpful, you will be happy.” ~Karl Reiland

“There are many in the world who are dying for a piece of bread, but there are many more dying for a little love.” ~Mother Teresa

For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself. Galatians 5:13–14

“I don’t want my life to be defined by what is etched on a tombstone. I want it to be defined by what is etched in the lives and hearts of those I’ve touched.” ~Steve Maraboli

I’ve kept this post short today,
because I want to share a must see video message with you.

The United States of America is a nation of laws. But laws don’t inspire greatness, excellence, or virtue. In fact, when we confuse what is legal with what is moral, everyone looks for a loophole to serve his or her own interests. The rich rule the poor, women become commodities, and children become victims. The law causes us to look down. It takes something else to inspire us to look up.

This message by Andy Stanley is a must see for every American.
Please take the time to watch it with your family or small group.
And share it too!
You can use the study guide to discuss it afterward.

I promise you this is well worth the time it takes.
It’s an investment in the future of our country.
If every Christian citizen of the U.S. watched and applied it…

Wow!

Have a wonderful day in the Lord!

Love God – Love Others.

Be Blessed – Be a Blessing.

  1. I’ll have to set aside some time to watch that video, Deb, thanks for sharing. 🙂

Your quotes are great. I especially like this one: ““There is no limit to the amount of good you can do if you don’t care who gets the credit.” ~Ronald Reagan” So true. Love that.

    Blessings to you, friend. 🙂

    1. Brenda, It’s an excellent video. Rev has watched it twice and we’ve talked about it again and again. I like the Reagan quote too! Blessings to you as well!

    1. Thank you Leah! Less of me and more of Jesus will help me love well and be that person someone would love to get to know. That is my prayer. Blessings!

  2. Deb, I finally had time tonight to listen to Andy Stanley
s sermon, and I am absolutely blown a way and beside myself. Yes, we have become a nation of the selfish, not the selfless, and we need to understand that our Constitution was created with the exact understanding that we, as a people, have a moral compass which we need to use daily. May God revive this land of ours!
    Blessings!

  3. Thank you for these quotes and the video. I am on limited wi-fi so I will catch it later. Loved this line the best:“This is the true joy in life — being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap; being a force of nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.” Blessings!
