Webster’s dictionary defines wisdom as having insight, knowledge, and good sense/judgment.
Dictionary.com defines wisdom as the knowledge of what is true coupled with good judgment as to action.
So wisdom is … knowing the right thing to do and doing it!
Sounds simple! Right?!
But it’s not always simple, is it..?
Today, I’m praying for the blessing of wisdom. Maybe you’d like to join me…
God, Please Bless Me with Wisdom, Courage, and JOY
Father, it is said that wisdom is knowing the right thing to do and doing it.
But there are countless opinions as to what qualifies as the “right thing to do.”
Your Word says:
Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. Colossians 2:8
The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. Psalm 19:7
High-sounding nonsense vs. simple wisdom.
I need Your help. Sometimes as I wait on You to answer a prayer or I try to live out a challenging situation or manage a difficult relationship … well, my mind races and wisdom seems to elude me.
Please bless me with wisdom.
Seek the Lord’s will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:6
Is that the simple answer? Wisdom is knowing Your will through Your Word!
You invite me to be still and know. Psalm 46:10
And You will transform me. Romans 12:2
Through the power of Your Holy Spirit. John 14:26
So, I will sit at Your feet trusting that Your Spirit will help me know the wise thing to do…
But then Father, it’s not always easy to stand against worldly wisdom and actually follow Your will.
Please forgive me.
And help me trust Your promises that give courage.
To go before me. Proverbs 3:6
To never leave me or forsake me. Deuteronomy 31:8
To help me. Psalm 118:6
To give me peace. Isaiah 26:3
To give me power. 2 Timothy 1:7
To give me victory. 1 Corinthians 15:57
To give me joy. Psalm 21:6
Solomon also wrote:
Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding. Proverbs 3:13
Godly wisdom is knowing and following Your commands.
Commands to love You with all my heart and others as I love myself. Luke 10:27
That’s JOY – loving Jesus, loving others, and loving who You have made me a forgiven and loved child.
Thank you, Father.
Jesus said, Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and He will give you everything you need. Luke 12:31
And You do! Thanks and praise! Amen.
