Praising God for Jesus Who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life

11 / 13 / 2011 / 13 / 20
Jesus is God's greatest gift - I'm pausing to thank and praise God for Jesus - the Great "I AM" the Way, the Truth that sets us free, & the Everlasting Life. #Thanksgiving #Hope #Faith #ForeverLife #CountingMyBlessings #WWGGG

Jesus is the greatest gift God has ever given to His creation. Through Jesus the lost are found, the broken are made whole, and the bound are set free. He is able to transform lives, heal broken hearts, and give people a purpose full of hope and promise.

The Scripture from Genesis through Revelation gives us a written account of God’s love for us and every verse points to Jesus, the Word made flesh.

He is God’s grace, mercy, and love in human form given to sinful people to save them from the eternal consequences of their rebellion.

From the Genesis promise:

I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike His heel.”

Genesis 3:15

To John 1:1–3:

In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through Him, and nothing was created except through Him.

John 3:16:

This is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.

And Revelations 22:7:

“Look, I [Jesus] am coming soon! Blessed are those who obey the words of prophecy written in this book.”

And those are just the beginning.

That’s why for the rest of the year, I’m going to pause and pray prayers of praise to God for the gift of Jesus and for His grace of revealing the truth about Him in His Word.

Each Friday as we lead up to our celebration of Jesus’ birth at Christmas, I will select several verses that share the identifying names the Bible uses to describe Jesus and I will thank and praise Him for being all our souls need in this crazy mixed up world and for all eternity.

Will you pray with me? Will you join me as I praise God for Jesus…

The Resurrection and the Life

Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die.

John 11:25–26

Father God, You are the giver of life, the creator of heaven and earth. Thank you for Jesus, the One who is able to restore life to fallen and condemned people. Because of Jesus, You promise that death has no power over Your children. You promise that through Him, I will live with You forever and always.

Father, I believe! With Your help and by the power of Your Spirit I will live in Him as He lives in me. I will trust and love Him with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. Father, thank you for making it possible for me to be claimed as Your own forever and ever.

The Truth that Sets us Free

Jesus said to the people who believed in Him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

John 8:31–32

Lord Jesus, thank you for making it possible for me to know You and those things You taught Your disciples when You walked upon the earth You created. Thank you for teaching the truth. Thank you for being the Truth.

The enemy is the father of lies who constantly works to keep Your creation bound in the consequences of sin. He continuously attempts to steal the beautiful future You fought to give us.

By Your grace and mercy, keep me focused on and faithful to Your truth and grant me the forever freedom that only You can give. Your grace is sufficient. I place my hope in You alone.

The One who is Holy and True

This is the message from the One who is holy and true, the One who has the key of David.
What He opens, no one can close;
and what He closes, no one can open.

Revelations 3:7

Father, I thank and praise You for Jesus, the One who is holy and true. He is perfect in every way and set apart as the One You appointed to save a fallen world. He is the Messiah the Word of truth in the flesh. He holds the key of salvation and He alone is able to open the door to Your kingdom.

Please hold me close, Lord. I want to grow closer to You every day. I pray to remain faithful to not only reading Your Word but to holding it close to my heart and applying it to my life. May I never stop praying and remain thankful in all circumstances. (1 Thessalonians 5:17–18) By Your grace and for Your glory.

The Great, “I AM”

Then the high priest asked Him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?”

Jesus said, “I am. And you will see the Son of Man seated in the place of power at God’s right hand and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

Mark 14:61–62

Father God, I praise You for Jesus, the “Mashiach.” The One appointed to save people broken by sin and its consequences. Jesus showed us You Father, as You really are . . . the “Great I AM.” Jesus, the One who sits at Your right hand and who will come again to bring Your children home to heaven.

Thank you for allowing us to know You, Father, through the words of those who physically walked with Jesus. Thank you for allowing us to see Your compassion and love, and for showing us Your heart to forgive all who come to You in repentance. Thank you that we can have a hopeful perspective on all life’s problems as we anticipate the fulfillment of Your eternal promises.

The Way, the Truth, and the Life

Jesus told Him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

John 14:6

Jesus, I thank and praise You for who You are and for all You have done for me. Thank you for showing me the WAY to the Father. Thank you for revealing the TRUTH that I might fully trust the reality of all God’s promises. Thank you for giving me a LIFE today that will last eternally. When I have You, I have everything I need for every moment of life. I have strength, courage, peace, and joy. I have a future filled with hope. I have love! I have the fullness of life.

Lord, I am so overwhelmed with gratitude. By the power and with the help of Your Spirit, I give myself completely to You. Help me live fully surrendered to You that I might live every moment of my life for Your glory. Amen.

Praise God for Jesus!

Are you lost? Jesus is the WAY.
Are you confused and uncertain? Jesus is the TRUTH.
Are you weary and broken? Jesus is LIFE.

Do you feel trapped because of a broken past? Jesus wants to set you free.

Jesus is God’s gift. He has shown us God because He is God.

After Jesus told the disciples, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” John 14:6

He said, “No one can come to the Father [God] except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him!” John 14:7

Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” John 14:8

Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father!” John 14:9a, 10a

When you and I know Jesus . . . we know God Himself. And by His grace, we have His Spirit…

“The Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth . . . you know Him because He lives with you now and later will be in you. He will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.” John 14:17, 26

Friend, praise God! We have everything we need because of the Lord’s grace, mercy, and love . . . because of Jesus.

10 Things to Thank God for Every Day

11 / 28 / 197 / 28 / 20
Thank God for who He is and for all He does. Thanksgiving may be over but for those who follow Jesus ... every day is a day to thank and praise God. #Thanksgiving #PraiseGod #BibleQuotes #ThankGod #WWGGG #Blessings

I’m keeping it simple today…

There has been a lot of talk over the past days about being thankful.

We’ve counted our blessings and listed the good things we enjoy. We’ve feasted with family and friends and now, the day after it seems like it’s time to move on to all-things Christmas.

But before we do, I want to take a few more minutes to stop and simply thank God for who He is and all He does for us heart, mind, soul, and strength…

10 Things to Thank God for Every Day

Thank God for who He is and for all He does. Thanksgiving may be over but for those who follow Jesus ... every day is a day to thank and praise God. #Thanksgiving #PraiseGod #BibleQuotes #ThankGod #WWGGG #Blessings

Thank God for being our Burden Bearer – He is faithful to help us carry every burden and will strengthen us to endure every challenge when we surrender our lives to Him.

Give your burdens to the Lord, and He will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.

Psalm 55:22

Thank God for being the Great “I AM” – His goodness is beyond measure. His power is beyond understanding. His grace is sufficient for every circumstance.

How kind the Lord is! How good He is! So merciful, this God of ours!

Psalm 116:5

Thank God for being Mighty and Powerful – Throughout time God has demonstrated His power and might and He is mighty and powerful enough to help you and me with whatever difficulty we face.

Sing a new song to the Lord, for He has done wonderful deeds. His right hand has won a mighty victory; His holy arm has shown His saving power!

Psalm 98:1

Thank God for being Righteous – He is the “One who is right!” Everything He does is perfect and holy.

Your righteousness, O God, reaches to the highest heavens. You have done such wonderful things. Who can compare with You, O God?

Psalm 71:19

Thank God for being Merciful and Kind – Everything He has done from creation through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection and all He will continue to do from today and into eternity … comes from a heart of loving mercy.

The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.

Psalm 103:8

Thank God for being Sovereign King – Rulers and leaders will come and go but God reigns supreme over all creation … that was true yesterday, it is true today, and it will be true forever and always.

The Lord is king! He is robed in majesty. Indeed, the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength. The world stands firm and cannot be shaken.

Psalm 93:1

Thank God for being Present – He is always with you and me. He knows every need and hears every prayer.

Lord, even before I say a word, You already know it. You are all around me—in front and in back—and have put Your hand on me.

Psalm 139:4–5

Thank God for being your Provider – What an amazing blessing it is to know that He provides everything we need. Not everything we want but everything we need!

The Lord is my Shepherd; I have all that I need.

Psalm 23:1

Thank God for being your Forgiver – What an amazing blessing to know that no sin is too great … through God’s grace given through Jesus, we can be confident that when we go to Him in humble repentance, we are forgiven!

Though we are overwhelmed by our sins, You forgive them all.

Psalm 65:3

Thank God for being the perfect Promise Keeper – Every word of God has proven true. They always have and they always will. God faithfully keeps His promises — ALWAYS! What a blessing to know we can trust Him completely.

For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule throughout all generations. The Lord always keeps His promises; He is gracious in all He does.

Psalm 145:13
Thank God for who He is and for all He does. Thanksgiving may be over but for those who follow Jesus ... every day is a day to thank and praise God. #Thanksgiving #PraiseGod #BibleQuotes #ThankGod #WWGGG #Blessings

A Thank You Prayer

Thank you, Lord!
You have heard my cry for mercy.
O, Lord, my strength and shield.
I trust You with all my heart.
Thank you for helping me,
and for filling my heart with joy and thanksgiving.

(Psalm 28:6–7)

Lord, thank you, You are so good and ready to forgive,
thank you for Your unfailing love that covers me

when I come to You for help.
(Psalm 86:5)

Teach me Your ways, O Lord,
that I may live according to Your truth!
Please help me and grant me purity of heart,
    that I may honor You.
And I will praise You with all my heart, O Lord my God.
I will give glory to Your name forever!

(Psalm 86:11–12)

Amen.

I am so excited to share a post by my friend, Carmen Brown, with you this week.

I was blessed to meet Carmen in person a little over a year ago. She writes to encourage wives and mothers to build their homes on a foundation of Christ. She says it’s her “desire to express understanding, compassion, and love to all the beautiful, strong, graceful wives and mothers who visit her at Married by His Grace.

Oh, and she’s also great at helping new bloggers with tips, ideas, and lots of encouragement.

Please welcome, Carmen! I KNOW you’re going to love her! She’s kind, caring, and she makes me laugh!

Amazing Worship Songs that will Make Your Day Better

There is nothing better than listening to one of your favorite worship songs to get your mind off your problems and make your day better. #SummerSizzleBlogHop #Worship

I get hooked on worship songs. Once I fall in love with a song, I add it to a playlist and will play the list over and over. In the morning when I wake up, during breakfast time with my children, while working out, and most definitely in my prayer room as I am seeking after the Lord, my playlist will play.

I love finding songs that will lift me up to His presence, bring peace to my worship time, and even clarity to how good God truly is to us.

All of this helps me have a good day as a wifey, with my children, as a full-time Blogger at home, and especially within myself. Worship music builds an intimate connection with God.

Listening to music is a form of worship that I can be on the go with. I love that I am either praying continuously throughout the day or I am singing praises unto Him. I do it so much that I even catch my children starting to sing when there is complete silence longer than a minute.

Oh, my goodness…it just melts my heart. Vision it….worshiping with your children through music. To me(deep sigh)…..Nothing beats that!

Worship music is seriously one of the best ways to shift the atmosphere. The Bible tells us, “Submit yourself unto God, Resist the Devil, and he shall flee.” (James 4:7)

Worshiping the Lord our God is the best way to completely submit yourself unto God, by doing so you will resist anything that is not of God, which then does not allow the devil to be around. 1,2,3, take the fact as it is and enjoy the worship music!

Right now my top song to play about ten times a day is, ‘Reckless Love’. I mean who doesn’t love that song? It completely describes the “overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God.”  Like how I added that?!!

I love the Reckless Love song because after hearing Cory Asbury live performance to this song, I received a great understanding as to what this song meant to him. He read the scriptures when Jesus spoke the parable of leaving the ninety-nine to save the one (Luke 15:4). This song is anointed and driven with a passion for the love of Christ which is all I ask for in a worship song!

There is just something about worship music; whether it’s with a slow soothing repetitive beat or a powerful anointing drumming sound to fire you up with a massive amount of energy for the day or not. Any song that represents the Lord’s love for us is an anthem to any day we have.

I encourage you to lay before Him for five minutes to just think upon the words we are listening to. Let it take you to complete solitude with Him, our Father. Let it enrich every thought you have about Him. Allow yourself to grow deeper in His magnificent love for us.

There is nothing better than listening to one of your favorite worship songs to get your mind off your problems and make your day better. #SummerSizzleBlogHop #Worship

5 Verses that will Inspire You to Praise God in the Mundane

5 Verses that will Inspire You to Praise God in the Mundane by Deb Wolf

Some days you and I wake up filled with joy and praise comes easy. Some days life is hard and our praise is wrapped in cries and pleas.

Today I want to talk about the other days. Those “run-of-the-mill” mundane days full of routine and normalcy. Days of dirty bathrooms, piles of laundry, and carpooling that make it harder to stop, look up, and praise God with words of worship and adoration.

Join me for a few minutes as I fill this space with praise and prayer to the One who is worthy of all glory and honor every day, even those full of less than fun mundane responsibilities.

5 Verses that will Inspire You to Praise God in the Mundane

It's hard to stop and praise God in the midst of dirty bathrooms and piles of laundry. These 5 verses will inspire you to praise Him in the mundane.

Psalm 103:1–2

Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise His holy name. Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things He does for me.

Father, with all I am I will praise You. Too often, all I am is weak, distracted, and selfish. Please forgive me. I’m like a little child whining, “I’m bored,” wanting You to entertain me. Or I forget what You did yesterday as I focus on what I want today. You faithfully bless my life with countless good things. Set my heart and mind on all I have because of Your goodness and grace. I have Jesus. It is well with my soul. It is a good day. A day to give You all my thanks and praise.

Psalm 119:140

Your promises have been thoroughly tested; that is why I love them so much.

Every promise You made is true forever. You never change. Thank you that I never have to be cautious about approaching You in prayer. I never have to worry about whether or not You are having a bad day. Lord, You faithfully invite me to come and sit with You, giving me courage and strength for every circumstance. Countless generations testify to Your goodness and the certainty of Your promises. I love Your Word. I love You, Lord.

Psalm 115:1

We are the people He watches over, the flock under His care. Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to Your name goes all the glory for Your unfailing love and faithfulness.

Father, thank you for watching over and caring for me. It is in You, I live, breathe, and exist. (Acts 17:28) You knew the number of days in my life before I was born. (Psalm 139:16) Please forgive me for taking even a moment of time for granted. Help me live this day with wisdom as a faithful steward of my time and resources. Everything, every moment is a gift from You. With Your grace and guidance, I will do better. In Jesus name, I pray.

Psalm 18:30–31,49

God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to Him for protection. For who is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock? O Lord, I will praise You among the nations; I will sing praises to Your name.

I love that, Lord. Your way is perfect. You cover me with love and keep me eternally safe. When I keep my eyes on You, I have courage and strength. I have nothing to fear. You give me a solid foundation for my life. Help me proclaim Your goodness to everyone. Forgive me for the times I am a lousy witness, times my weaknesses hurt Your holy name. Help me live for Your glory.

Psalm 34:1–3

I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak His praises. I will boast only in the Lord; let all who are helpless take heart. Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness; let us exalt His name together.

Oh Lord, I praise You. Thank you for this day. Help me to love my family well. Help me be Your hands and feet to those around me. Help me find joy in doing the little things that may seem insignificant but serve to keep my family clean, fed, and cared for. Help me love them well and celebrate the gift of this day for no day is unimportant to You. And by Your grace may I proclaim Your goodness and grace to a hurting world. In Jesus name. Amen.

5 Verses that will Inspire You to Praise God in the Mundane by Deb Wolf

Friends, the dailiness of life can distract me from the many reasons I have to praise God and rejoice in Him. So for this moment, I will stop lift my hands in the air, shout glory, sing a song a praise, and pray a prayer of thanksgiving.

How Counting Your Blessings from A to Z will Make You Happier

5 / 31 / 1710 / 15 / 20

How Counting Your Blessings from A to Z will Make You Happier - Counting My Blessings

How would you like to be happier?

Studies show a deliberate attitude of gratitude can increase happiness and when you and I express it to others or write it down, we can actually increase our levels of energy, enthusiasm, and empathy.

Sounds good, doesn’t it?

God inspired Paul to write…

In everything give thanks. This is what God wants you to do because of Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Because of Jesus, we have everything we need and every reason to be thankful. How cool is it that He made thankfulness a way to bless us as well.

One of my favorite parts about counting my blessings is that it notices what is and for a moment forgets what isn’t.

Blessing counting doesn’t focus on what’s behind or what’s not yet . . . gratefulness lives in the present and finds the joy in today. I decided to kick off the summer season by making a list of things for which I’m thankful and one of my favorite formats for list making is to use the alphabet. So, from Answered prayer to Zest for life, I’m counting my blessings and thanking God.

How would you like to enjoy an even happier summer? Studies show that counting your blessings with gratitude will increase both your energy and enthusiasm.

How Counting Your Blessings from A to Z will Make You Happier

A – Answered Prayer
  • He will answer the prayer of those in need. He will not turn from their prayer. Psalm 102:17
B – Bible
  • “The Holy Scriptures are our letters from home.” ~ Augustine of Hippo
C – Children
  • “Little children are God’s ongoing witness of His kingdom: a perpetual reminder of what it means to belong to the father. Children are an unspoken sermon in every home for simplicity, joy, and humility of that which makes the world worth living in. They remind us what it means to be a real Christian.” ~ Winkie Pratney
D – Deliverance through Jesus
  • Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! Romans 7:25
E – Eternity
  • From eternity to eternity I am God. No one can snatch anyone out of my hand. No one can undo what I have done. Isaiah 43:13
F – Friends and Family

I love making alphabet lists. It’s an easy way for this easily distracted mind of mine to stay focused. And when I listing my blessings I want to stay focused.

The fun part is this time I didn’t even list things like chocolate, ice cream, or my home. So, I’m excited. I can start again with a whole new list. Now that makes me happy!

What would you put on your gratitude list?

God is so good! Thanks for joining me today in gratitude for His countless blessings.
