As part of The Faith Project and a deeper look at wisdom, here are 25 verses to memorize that will help you grow in faith and wisdom.

I grew up memorizing Bible verses for school. One or two verses every week recited to the teacher or written on paper each Friday.

But it’s been years since I’ve hidden any new verses in my heart, and I’m old enough that the King James Version was the translation I committed to memory. It’s time for some intentional taking of the Word to memory.

As part of The Faith Project and my deeper look at wisdom, I’ve picked 25 verses I want to remember and hold close.

I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:11

  1. These are such great verses. I’m familiar with all of them. It made me realize that if I took the time to write them down with their references, I could have a lot of verses memorized and it probably wouldn’t take that long!

    1. I’ve heard that saying them aloud and writing them down makes memorization very easy. That’s my plan. I’ll let you know how it goes. Blessings my friend!

  2. I’m ashamed to say it, but growing up, I never even read the Bible let alone memorize verses as I was not encouraged by my parents to do so. I know I’ve more than made up for that lack during my adult life, but I still find it difficult to recall an actual scripture and rely on Bible Gateway to give me the chapter and verse. However, these scriptures you’ve given us here makes me want to buckle down and truly memorize them. Blessings, Deb!

    1. Good for you, Martha. You definitely have a love for the Word now and that’s what is important. And I’m glad you’re considering joining me in memorizing these verses. Thanks and many blessings!

    Deb,
Thank you for sharing these verses and for the reminder/encouragement to memorize God’s Word. As a young child, I remember memorizing verses in Sunday school/VBS; however, that didn’t carry over into adulthood. Perhaps now is the time?

    Blessings!

  4. What a great list of verses, Deb!
I love the selection you’ve added.
One of my favorites is, “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, all whose thoughts are fixed on You!” Isaiah 26:3
Thank you for pointing us to the Word!
    Sure do appreciate you~

  5. This is a great list of verses and I appreciate having them as a reference. Thank you for sharing these, Deb. I hope you have a wonderful day! God bless you!

    1. Thanks, Dawn! God’s blessings to you, too!

  6. Thanks for sharing. What great verses! My favorite Scripture is James 1:17.

    1. Thanks for sharing James 1:17, Leslie . . . Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. What a wonderful promise! Blessings to you!

  7. My favorite verse has been Psalm 37:5 for many years. But this year God led me to another…Psalm 138:8: “The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever.” That is my go-to verse this year and speaks of God fulfilling His work in me. That will lead to growth.

    1. Wonderful verse, Bill. There is something about those words . . . your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever, it just fills me with joy and promise. Thanks so much for adding that to the list.

  8. No better way to grow your faith than with scripture memorization.

    1. I agree, Renee! Making it part of my day again. Knowing His word by heart makes taking negative thoughts captive and rejecting them so much easier. Replacing them with God’s truth. God bless you!

  9. Ruthie Gray says:

Isaiah 26:3 is a favorite of mine also. What a great idea to plan out the verses to memorize! I usually just find something and write it on a 3X5 card and memorize until I run across another that I like from my devotions. Loved this post!

Thanks for sharing with us at Tuesday Talk, Deb!
