It’s Important to Know that No One is Unimportant in the Church

I wonder what a difference we could make as people of the church if we communicated that everyone is valued, loved, and very important to God's family. #Faith #God'sLove #Family #CountingMyBlessings #WWGGG

As astonishing as the growth of the early church was, challenges presented themselves from the very beginning.

Both Jews and Greeks were joining the church that had arisen from Judaism. But it didn’t take long before the Greeks said they felt that some of them were being discriminated against in the distribution of food.

As the believers rapidly multiplied, there were rumblings of discontent. The Greek-speaking believers complained about the Hebrew-speaking believers, saying that their widows were being discriminated against in the daily distribution of food.

Acts 6:1

And the Apostles quickly called a meeting and took actions to solve the problem.

“We apostles should spend our time teaching the word of God, not running a food program. And so, brothers, select seven men who are well respected and are full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will give them this responsibility.”

Acts 6:2b–3

They appointed seven people who would focus on fairly taking care of the needs of God’s people.

I think there’s something important to learn from this beyond that of fairness and provision. Notice that the Bible does not say that the role of the seven was less important than that of the twelve apostles.

Don’t ever feel that what you do in the Kingdom is insignificant or unimportant.

The Word teaches that everything that every Christian does for the Kingdom is critically important when done for the glory of God.

He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

Ephesians 4:16

God has given each of us a role in the Kingdom and when we do our part today, just like the early church, the results are the blessing of a God-honoring outcome:

So God’s message continued to spread. The number of believers greatly increased in Jerusalem, and many of the Jewish priests were converted, too.

Acts 6:7

We each have an important role in caring for everyone in God’s Kingdom . . . and who knows, if we truly valued, loved, and cared for one another “the number of believers [may] greatly increase” again today.

I wonder what a difference we could make as people of the church if we communicated that everyone is valued, loved, and very important to God's family. #Faith #God'sLove #Family #CountingMyBlessings #WWGGG

A Prayer to Value and Care for Everyone in the Church

Father, Your Word says that each of us is “fearfully and wonderfully made” by You. (Psalm 139:14) It says that You have given each of us a gift to be used to serve one another as stewards of Your grace. (1 Peter 4:10)

You have poured Your love and forgiveness over my life in abundance. Being part of Your Kingdom and belonging to the family of believers is a gift of grace. Through Jesus, You made it possible for us all to be a part of Your family. And You give us everything we need to love and care for every member of the family.

Please forgive us for failing to value and care for each other the way You want. Please forgive our selfish and foolish attitudes that too often mimic the ways of the world.

Lord, I believe that with the help of Your Spirit, we can do better. I can do better. Help me value and care for everyone as You wish. Help us together share Your love with the world that “the number of believers may greatly increase.” I believe that with Your help anything is possible. Thank you for Your grace, mercy, and love. By Your grace, help me love like You. Amen.

Can you imagine the difference we could make if those of us in the church were known as people who valued and cared for each other rather than those who criticized and judged? Everyone would want what we have!

And what we have is amazing!

Not only do we have each other but we have God’s promises of:

  • guidance. John 16:13
  • help. Psalm 46:1
  • wisdom. James 1:5
  • encouragement. Romans 15:5
  • hope. Romans 8:24
  • faith. Ephesians 2:8
  • love. 1 John 4:9

All blessings God has given us to share with each other.

You may not believe that you can do great things . . . that you are unimportant. But friend, no one is unimportant in God’s Kingdom. We are all here to love, care for, and encourage one another. And that’s not only important, it’s essential! Someone needs your unique gifts and ways of sharing God’s love.

You are precious, loved, and valued by God and His church!

On today’s note write:

God calls me precious. I am important to Him!

John wrote:

See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children.

1 John 3:1a

May God bless you today and remind you often how very precious and important you are.

  1. Each and every one of us are important to God, so let us recognize that fact in our brothers and sisters in Christ.

  2. Angela Cahill says:

We are all important to God – He calls us His heirs. We have an important role to fulfill here, as we journey towards heaven. Father God, help us to use wisely the gifts you have given us. Nurture those gifts and help us to bear much fruit.

Thank you Deb for reminding us of the Father’s LOVE for all His children.
