With prayer and God's help, you will be strong enough to do this day. - 5 Verses to Pray When You Need to be Strong

I’m sure you’re like me, in that some days you’re just not sure you’re strong enough to get out of bed and face the day.

Maybe it’s physical limitations caused by pain or illness.

Maybe it’s emotional.

The thought of dealing with a person or problem feels overwhelming and makes you want to pull the covers over your head and hide.

I’m taking all my morning “I don’t want to face the day” feels to the Lord in prayer and today, I’m thrilled to have you join me.

5 Verses to Pray When You Need to be Strong

Psalm 46:1

God is our refuge and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble. (NLT)

Father, You are my hiding place. When it’s hard to crawl out of bed in the morning because pain, grief, or just an overwhelming schedule make me want to hide, You are with me. You whisper Your sweet presence to my heart reminding me that I can come to You for strength and help. What an awesome blessing. Forgive me for the days I jump out of bed quickly believing I can manage the day on my own. I can be so foolish. I’m sorry. Thank you for giving me this day to do with You. Lead me, Father. Help me. Make me strong. Amen.

With prayer and God's help, you will be strong enough to do this day.

Isaiah 12:2

Look! God is my Savior. I am confident and unafraid because
the Lord is my strength and my song. He is my Savior. (GW)

Father, Savior, Knowing and loving You should be enough. I pray these words … “I am confident and unafraid.” Oh, how I want them to be true. Some days it is but others, like today, I’m weak and tired and yes, even a little afraid. Forgive me. Please help me.

Just a few verses later, Isaiah wrote – Sing praise to the Lord, because He has done great things. Let all the world know what He has done. (v.5) And I remember all You have done for me. You are my Savior. You are all I need. And You have blessed me with courage and strength in the past. So, I surrender this day to You, trusting You to go before me and make me strong one moment at a time. Thank you. Amen.

Psalm 121:2

My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth! (NLT)

Father, You are Creator. You watch over all You have made. And you watch over me. You are my helper. You lift my head giving me courage and strength when I’m weak and overwhelmed. I believe no problem is too great for You to intervene and none is so small that You do not care. You are full of love and compassion. I need You, Lord. Please help me as I face the day ahead. Amen.

Psalm 23:3

He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to His name. (NLT)

Father, My heart’s desire is to live for Your glory. I want people to see Your love in me but on my own, I fail miserably. I need You. Renew me. Guide me. Help me follow Your will that I might glorify and honor You. Amen.

5 Verses to Pray When You Need to be Strong - Counting My Blessings

1 Peter 5:10–11

And after you suffer for a short time, God, who gives all grace, will make everything right. He will make you strong and support you and keep you from falling. He called you to share in His glory in Christ, a glory that will continue forever. All power is His forever and ever. Amen. (NCV)

Father, Jesus told us we will have trouble in this life. It doesn’t surprise us. Yet, it also doesn’t make it easy. Suffering is hard and I’d love to avoid it altogether. I believe You are able to give me the strength to do anything You allow. I believe You are with me. And I believe You are preparing a place for me that is full of grace. A place where Your glory shines forever and ever. Thank you, Father. Yours alone is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

It’s time to throw those covers back and get out of bed. With God’s help I am confident you and I will be strong enough to do this day. And tomorrow, well, we’ll worry about that when the time comes.

God bless you!
