5 Verses to Pray When You Need God's Strength - Counting My Blessings

You open your eyes and can’t believe it’s morning already.

Yesterday was hard and you have a feeling today will be just as challenging…

You feel overwhelmed, unable, and in need of help.

So, you’re crying out asking God to give strength only He is able to give.

5 Verses to Pray When You Need God’s Strength

Psalm 18:1–2

I love you, Lord. You are my strength
 The Lord is my rock, my protection, my Savior.

My God is my rock.
I can run to Him for safety.
He is my shield and my saving strength, my defender.

Oh, Father, I needed this verse today. You give me strength when I have none of my own. You offer me a firm foundation when life feels fragile and unstable. You protect me, heart and soul, and give me a safe place to run for safety. You are my Redeemer, the One who defends me. Thank you, Father. I don’t deserve Your grace and mercy . . . yet You generously bless my life with both because of Your love. Thank you for giving me all I need to face this day, please help me use it for Your glory. Amen.

5 verses to pray when you're crying out in need of God's strength, ability only He is able to give you when you're overwhelmed in need of help.

Psalm 73:22–26

I was so foolish and ignorant—
    I must have seemed like a senseless animal to You.
Yet I still belong to You;
    You hold my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel,
    leading me to a glorious destiny.
Whom have I in heaven but you?
    I desire you more than anything on earth.
My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak,
    but God remains the strength of my heart;
    He is mine forever.

Father, how I love these verses. You gave them to me when my heart was broken and my spirit crushed. I’ve had so many ignorant and foolish times in my life. Days when I believed I had the answers and I couldn’t even get my mind around the questions. Thank you for giving me strength when I needed it most . . . showing me Your love, grace, and mercy. I’ve known Your healing touch and comforting embrace. Father, I believe You are holding me. There is nothing in this life I desire more than You. In Jesus name. Amen.

Psalm 46:1,10–11

God is our refuge and strength,
    always ready to help in times of trouble.

“Be still, and know that I am God!
I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world.”
The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us;
the God of Israel is our fortress.

Lord, You are my shelter and strength. I love that Your Word says You are always ready to help me . . . that you invite me to “be still” and know You, Lord of all, God of gods, and King of kings. Today I’m coming to You in need Your strength. Oh Lord, I need You. So, I sit here quietly in Your presence trusting You will give me all I need to face whatever this day brings. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

Psalm 93:1–2

The Lord is king. He is clothed in majesty.
    The Lord is clothed in majesty
    and armed with strength.
The world is set,
    and it cannot be moved.
Lord, your kingdom was set up long ago;
    You are everlasting.

Father, the world is Yours and everything in it. You speak a word and it happens. I look around and see a world in chaos. People turning on each other over ideology. Terrorism. War. Natural disasters. It’s frightening. Yet, nothing is new to You. You have always known the end from the beginning and You are always in control. Nothing happens You have not allowed because You want to draw us to Yourself. Please, Father, help me keep my eyes focused on You, for with You there is strength to face the day and hope for the future. In Christ I pray. Amen.

5 Verses to Pray When You Need God's Strength - Counting My Blessings

2 Corinthians 12:8–10

 I begged the Lord three times to take this problem away from me.
But He said to me, “My grace is enough for you.
When you are weak, my power is made perfect in you.”

So I am very happy to brag about my weaknesses.
Then Christ’s power can live in me.
For this reason, I am happy when I have weaknesses, insults,
hard times, sufferings, and all kinds of troubles for Christ.
Because when I am weak, then I am truly strong.

Father, I need to remember that Your grace is enough today. I feel overwhelmed and anxious. I’ve asked for you to take this burden from me. I’ve pleaded that it would pass quickly. And You remind me of  Your more than enough grace. Jesus with me. His Spirit to guide me. All I need. Joy in the midst of weakness and trouble. Strength to live with courage. Thank you, In and with Jesus I will get up and live this day surrendered to You. Amen.
