Our Passion for Blessing Children through
World Vision and Compassion International

In August of 2011, I had the opportunity to travel with the World Vision Bolivia Bloggers Team.

It’s a bit of a cliche’ to refer to it as a life changing event in my life, but seeing first hand the ministry of World Vision, meeting our sponsor child, Abigail, visiting with children, families, and communities whose lives have been changed through the generosity of people like you and me . . . amazing.

A Prayer for the Journey –

As you read this we are just beginning our Bolivian journey. We arrived in La Paz tonight, and we will fly to Cochabamba early tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow evening I will post my  thoughts and stories from Day 1, but tonight I would like to share the prayer I found myself writing during my Friday morning time with the Lord.

Prayer for the Journey:

Father, My stomach is all aflutter. I desperately want to serve and glorify You with all that I am. Yet this morning “all that I am” seems very small and insignificant.

Who am I to tell Your stories?

Who am I to touch the least of these, when I feel so insufficient?

How can I make a difference? I can’t.

You can!

How can I capture immense needs with simple words? I can’t.

You can!

How can I be bold when thoughts and questions flood my mind with anxiety and insecurity? I can’t.

But You can!

You gave me the boldness I needed to say “yes” six weeks ago. Now, I pray that YOU will make me bold to go – to go and be . . .

Your hands.
Your feet.
Your embrace.
Your love.

Please help me Lord to tell Your stories so that people will see and know what You want them to understand. Give my words and pictures life, so that they are not just stories on a page, but real – fleshed out people . . . children, families, and communities dearly loved by You.

And Father I pray that from this day forward, with eyes opened and heart tendered, loved by me . . . through my words, through my prayers, and through my actions.

May it be for Jesus sake. Amen.

I have shown you in all things that by working hard in this way we must help the weak, remembering the words that the Lord Jesus Himself said, “There is more happiness in giving than in receiving.” Acts 20:35 (GN)
