There is Help – You Can Do This

Everyone says you should follow your inner voice, but that only works if she's not a bully. But... There is hope. There is help. You can do this.

Is your inner voice friend or foe? Cheerleader or discourager?

[Tweet “You will believe whatever you tell yourself most often.”]

Many will tell you to follow your inner voice, but that’s only a good idea if your inner voice is giving you good advice.

If your inner voice is a bully you’ll end up discouraged and defeated.

And the Holy Spirit is not a bully.

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22–23

Do you apply spiritual fruit to yourself? Asking for forgiveness where you need it; then practicing love, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control with those things you think about yourself?

Other Names for the Holy Spirit

Dear friend, the truth the Holy Spirit wants you to know, to believe, to trust…

God loves you and His love never changes.

But you, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness. Psalm 86:15

God forgives you.

I—yes, I alone—will blot out your sins for my own sake and will never think of them again. Isaiah 43:25

God has plans for you.

The Lord will work out his plans for my life—for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me. Psalm 138:8

God will meet your needs.

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33

God will guide and help you.

The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” Psalm 32:8

God keeps His promises.

God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. Psalm 18:30

May your inner voice fill you with His truth.

You are loved. You are beautiful. You have a purpose. Your needs will be met.

Refuse to allow your inner bully to discourage or defeat you. No matter what happens . . . look in the mirror and see someone who is loved and forgiven. Remind yourself that tomorrow is another day, a fresh start, a day to live with faith, hope, and love. You can do this.

I don’t think “I can’t” is something Dakota says to himself very often.

Were you inspired? Me too. I’m inspired to clean out the cupboards and toss negative thoughts that keep me from setting goals and trying harder. Inspired to print the following and keep it close, to remember…

What is your favorite way to stay motivated and remain hopeful?

  1. That’s why I always tell myself I’m beautiful, special, loved, forgiven. I may make boo boos but my destiny is greater than my mistakes.

Thanks, Deb for sharing these verses. I’m gonna add them to my daily declarations. 🙂

  2. What an inspiring post! I am AWFUL with my inner dialogue! I still don’t understand why I am so uplifting and forgiving toward others, but I can’t seem to extend the same to myself. I know that I am loved and in God’s hands, so why I feel the need to be more harsh to myself than the great I AM is beyond me.

    1. I am too Rachel. It’s one of my goals for 2015 to do a better job of letting go of self-defeating discouragement. Living under His grace . . . we are loved and in His hands. Amen!

  3. What so often keeps me motivated and hopeful is seeing God at work in my life through my writing and those I love, and in reading inspirational blogs like this very one, Deb. Thank you for your wisdom and encouragement! Blessings!

  4. Deb – Loved the video! And the printable! We so need to remind ourselves of what we can do & Who is at work in us to accomplish His plan in our lives. So glad you shared this!
