Grab your planner or journal and ask these questions every week. I promise they will help you focus, plan intentionally, and bless your life...

I “Stumbled Upon” this post at Marc And Angel Hack Life. Marc and Angel asked 20 questions that inspired me to make a more personalized list for myself. I may even turn it into a weekly journal entry:

20 Important Questions You Need to Ask
Yourself Every Week

1. What were my greatest blessings last week? Take a moment to thank God specifically for the ways you felt Him touch your life this past week.

2. Where did I miss the mark? List the things that you regret having done (or that you failed to do) confess them, and begin the week with a clean slate.

3. What did the Lord teach me this past week? If God brought you to it or through it, He had a purpose . . . will it make a difference in your coming week?

4. Where did I find joy in serving others? Think about the things you did that blessed others and gave you joy. You’re more likely to repeat them if you enjoyed yourself.

Grab your planner or journal and ask these questions every week. I promise they will help you focus, plan intentionally, and bless your life...

5. Which moments do I want to remember? Wouldn’t it be great o have a  journal filled with acknowledged blessings and moments that gave you joy.

6. What’s the most important thing I’d like to accomplish this week? What is your purpose? If you know it, you’re more likely to do it!

7. Where did I waste the most time last week? When you acknowledge where you wasted time and write it down, You’re more likely to make changes so you won’t have to write them down again!!

8. How can I best organize my time for the coming week? This is where you grab your planner to streamline your week: group things that can be done together, make a focus list, simplify as much as possible, and try not to over-fill your schedule.

9. What is causing the most worry, and what can I do about it? Name it! If there is something to be done – do it! If not – give it to God and leave it alone!

10. Where do I need to quit procrastinating? In my life it is probably some cleaning that needs to be done. It can be any project on your to-do list that you keep moving forward. Don’t you want to scratch it off your list and be done with it. At least for this week!!

11. Who needs my encouragement? Name them, and put a reminder on your focus list. Better yet, do it now!

12. Who needs my thanks? Same as #11

13. Who needs my help? Block out some time to lend a helping hand each week.

14. What are my goals and what can I do to accomplish them? I believe you’re more likely to meet your goals if you know what they are and list steps to do them.

a. Professionally
b. Relationally
c. Spiritually

15. What am I most excited about this week? Think of at least one thing you anticipate will be fun. It’s ideal to plan one thing each day, but . . . at least try for one or two each week. Aren’t you more excited to get out of bed when there is something fun planned?

16. What are my greatest fears right now? Identifying a fear can eliminate its power, and give you the courage to face it and move beyond it.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Psalm 91

17. What verse of Scripture do I want to memorize this week? One verse each week is 52 verses a year. Imprint God’s Word on your hearts and have it ready for times you need the encouragement or comfort.

I treasure Your word in my heart, so that I may not sin against You. Blessed are you, O Lordteach me your statutes. Psalm 119:11–12

18. What will I do this week to express my love to the important people in my life? There are so many little things we can do to express our love. A good place to start is learning the “Love Language” of your dear ones. Show them you care in ways that mean the most to them.

19. What will I do this week to encourage health, my own as well as that of my family? Plan meals, organize shopping lists, schedule exercise, and regular physical and dental check-ups. Do things to make your health a priority.

20. How would I spend my week if I knew I would be face to face with Jesus at the end of it?

Grab your journal or planner and put a copy of these questions where you can find them easily.

You have my permission to use and/or share this list as you’d like.

Time is a precious gift. What are you waiting for?

Think of all the things that can happen in a moment, an hour, a day, a week, or longer.

I want to make the most of each moment God gives me and make things with eternal value my priority.

Will you join me in making it a goal to live every day in the joy of His presence aware of His blessings?

We would love to pray for you.

  1. Oh, what marvelous inspiration, Deb! I am definitely saving your list and will act on it in the weeks to come. Blessings!

  2. What a great list! I think I will copy some of these questions down and maybe try to come up with some of my own. I’m not very good at planning and staying disciplined, and this may help! Thank you!

  3. You had me at “grab your journal.” I printed these out… 🙂

    Thank you

    Deb,
It’s one thing to offer sound biblical advice and encouragement (a very, very good thing), it’s yet another to aim a bit higher up offer practice advice on how to carry out a biblically sound life. Thank you for aiming higher! You have encouraged me to do the same.

  5. Journal in hand…I’ll be copying these questions. I started to tell you what my favorite question is, but I kept thinking “this one, no this one.” Thank you for taking the time to share this. I know it will track growth as well as showing where I need to focus for growth.

  6. Good reminder for everyone to ask themselves. Thanks for sharing

  7. Deb, thank you for this fantastic list. #10 reminded me of a card that I’ve been meaning to send. I will go and do that now. #bloggercaregroup

  8. Rachel R. says:

About how long does it take you to work through this list?

    1. Great question, Rachel. It takes a little bit of time if I work through the whole list, but lots of times it helps just to choose two or three and think about those. Or do a couple each day rather than saving them to do all at once. Thanks so much for visiting and for stopping to join the conversation!

  9. Thank you, Deb!!will surely do this

  10. i am a recent cancer survivor and each day I keep a journal of the many blessings of returning to near normal life. I never have trouble appreciating each small treasure. But i love that your questions urge me to move further from that selfcenteredess and look again at all the people in my life and how I can be a small light in the world Thanks for your inspiration

    1. Pam, I’m praising God with you for your returned health! I love your heart as you look forward to blessing others in the days and weeks ahead. I’m guessing there were many you blessed and encouraged without even realizing it throughout your illness. Thanks so much for visiting and for stopping to say “hello.”
