5 Powerful Verses to Pray When You Need More of God
Even though things may slow down a bit in the summer it seems there are still plenty of things trying to distract me and pull me away from my time with the Lord. And I feel it!
My heart craves HIM the Rock of my salvation! I need more of God!
He is my shield and safe place to hide. So, join me and as I crawl into that safe space of His Word and be strengthened and encouraged…
5 Powerful Verses to Pray When You Need More of God
Psalm 18:2
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my Savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. Psalm 18:2
Father, thank you! I’m running to you today for safety and protection and thanking You for Your faithfulness and love. Please forgive me for being so prone to busyness and distraction. I feel a longing in my soul for more of You. Lead me to the cross where I can empty myself of me and by Your grace be forgiven and filled with Your love. Amen.
Psalm 61:1–3a
O God, listen to my cry! Hear my prayer! From the ends of the earth, I cry to You for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety, for You are my safe refuge. Psalm 61:1–3a
I so easily become overwhelmed when I don’t lean into You, Lord. Please forgive me and help me. Thank you for always hearing my cry, knowing my heart, and for leading me to Your place of safety when I’m overwhelmed. Amen.
Psalm 62:1–2
I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. Psalm 62:1–2
Oh Lord, You alone are my rock and my salvation. So, I come quietly into Your presence and I wait to hear Your voice. Please speak words of truth over me as I turn to Your Word. Guide me by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Settle my spirit and for this moment help me set aside every distraction and the activity that tempts me. Lord, I love you and know the blessing of “being still” with You each day and praying without ceasing. Thank you for drawing me back by Your amazing grace and tender mercy. Amen.
Isaiah 44:8
Do not tremble; do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim my purposes for you long ago? You are my witnesses—is there any other God? No! There is no other Rock—not one!” Isaiah 44:8
Matthew 7:24
There is no other God! No other Rock—not one! All I can say in humble adoration is, “thank you!” You want me to know and love you! My heart is overwhelmed! You are my everything! Amen.
“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.” Matthew 7:24
Father, I ask that by the power of Your Spirit that You will help me build every part of my life on the solid rock of faith in Your Son and my Redeemer, Jesus. May I trust and follow His teachings and surrender all that I am to You. In Jesus name and with Your help and strength. Amen.
Whenever you find yourself, like me, needing more of God . . . may you be blessed by the Rock of your Salvation and receive all you need to overcome every distraction and temptation and rest in Him.
