This is Important – God’s Justice and Timing are Perfect
When our daughter was a toddler, she would get so excited about holidays, events, and outings. The night before we’d say, “We get to do ___________ tomorrow!” And then send her off to bed with dreams of tomorrow dancing through her head.
We knew what would happen the following morning. Every time she’d enthusiastically run into our room and ask, “Is it tomorrow?”
And we’d smile and say, “No, it’s today.”
To which she would sadly reply, “But I want it to be tomorrow!”
Teaching little ones to understand the concept of time can be amusing; it can also be a bit annoying when they repeatedly ask, “Is it time yet? What about now? When will it be time?”
As I read the Life Application Bible Notes for Psalm 75, these words hit home…
As limited human beings, we can’t understand God’s perspective of time. We want everything immediately, without realizing that God’s timing is best. When God is ready, He will do what needs to be done.
God says, “At the time I have planned,
Psalm 75:2
I will bring justice against the wicked.
We look around and see a world where injustice seems to prevail, but God promises that His judgment is coming. Evil will be punished and righteousness through Christ Jesus will be blessed.
We can trust God’s justice and His timing.
Isaiah wrote…
The Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for Him.
Isaiah 30:8
And Jesus said…
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him.”
John 3:16–19
“There is no judgment against anyone who believes in Him. But anyone who does not believe in Him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil.“
There may be times when people arrogantly believe they can get away with doing whatever they choose.
But God says…
“I warned the proud, ‘Stop your boasting!’
Psalm 75:4–5, 7
I told the wicked, ‘Don’t raise your fists!
Don’t raise your fists in defiance at the heavens
or speak with such arrogance.’”
It is God alone who judges;
He decides who will rise and who will fall.
So, what do we do while we wait for God’s justice? While we wait on Jesus’ return?
- We live by faith!
- We trust God’s promises and we obey His will.
- We remember that He has kept His promises in the past and He will keep His promises in the future. Jesus will come again to judge the world.
- We SEEK His Kingdom and surrender our lives to Him.
- We live forgiven and free in Christ Jesus confident that we are blessed with everything we need today, tomorrow, and forever.
- We love as we have been loved by Him.
Let’s pray…
A Prayer to Trust God’s Justice and Timing
Father, Ongoing sinful behavior that inflicts pain and suffering causes us to cry out, “It’s not fair!” We ask, “When will wickedness end? When will righteousness win?”
Lord, it’s hard to watch people suffer. I can’t imagine how hard it is for You to see the children You created, the ones You love, experience senseless anguish and affliction. You want so much more for us. You even sent Jesus to show us and give us a better way to live. A way that is full of hope and promise.
Please help me trust Your timing. Give me faith and confidence that Your timing is full of grace and love. Please give me a heart of obedience . . . one that desires to live every moment for Your glory. Please help me focus on Your will for my life trusting that You will restore perfect justice to Your creation at the time You have planned.
Thank you for Jesus and for giving me everything I need to live forgiven and free forever. I give myself to You and with Your Spirit’s help, I will SEEK You and Your Kingdom every day of my life as long as I live. Amen.
One thing I know for sure…
I don’t want God’s justice in my life to be based on my good or bad behaviors and attitudes alone. I need Jesus.
Because of Jesus, we don’t have to fear judgment. We have God’s promise that when we place our faith and trust in Jesus, we are covered by grace and mercy. We are forgiven and free to love and forgive others.
We can face today with patience trusting God’s perfect timing.
The Lord isn’t really being slow about His promise, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed but wants everyone to repent.
2 Peter 3:9
Because…
God our Savior . . . wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.
1Timothy 2:4
May you experience peace as you trust God’s justice confident that all will be set right in His perfect timing.

We may not understand God’s timing, but through faith, we can trust that He is spot-on, Deb.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Amen, Martha! Amen! Blessings, my friend!
You are so right when you say God’s timing is not ours! It is very hard to wait patiently! Harder in some situations than others.
I know in my heart that God does know what is best and his timing is perfect. He knows so much that we don’t know in any situation that we find ourselves in and what the best outcome will be. This is something that can test the best of us. I tell God that I am going to let him handle it and I try, but, I find myself taking it back in my hands. I have to pray about this on a daily basis. “Please God help me to be strong and to wait on you!”
I needed this reminder today. Thank you! You are a wise lady and your advice is well accepted.
I hope that you and your husband have a good and safe weekend. I pray the same for all of the other folks in this fold.
Thank you, Sue. Thank you for putting this so perfectly. I find myself in exactly the same place often. I want to pray and leave it all in God’s hands but then I keep thinking there’s some worrying and “fixing” I need to do. I am so very thankful for His patience with me and that He faithfully does what He knows is best. Blessings to you, sweet friend!
Thank you for the eye opening you send me to remind me that all is God’s timing and we just need to ask for his Grace, Peace, and patience to be able to trust in him. Many times when I see the unjust among people I think often say why does it seem time after time it seems they get away with murder on their wrongdoings. This gave me a better understanding of what God wants us me to do and that is trust in him, forgive the wrongdoers, give me grace so I can forgive them and pray for them. I will always trust in Lord Jesus for as long as I’m here so he can someday take me to his Kingdom.
Blessings Deb and all the person who follow this wonderful prayer group.
Thank you, Ana! I’m glad you were blessed and encouraged. It’s hard to give our worldly mess over to the Lord in faith, especially when the worldliness is right in our face. But God is always at work and His plans and purposes will always prevail. What a blessing to know that we can trust Him completely. God bless you!
I do find my patience in short supply some days…and yet I know that God is always in control and though His timing for things doesn’t always align with ours, we have to look to Him in faithful devotion and “wait on the Lord.”
Blessings to you, Deb for keeping the encouragement coming our way. May all my dear friends out there have a blessed and safe weekend. Love to all!
Thank you for you sweet kindness, Kathy. And for letting me know that I’m not the only one who gets impatient at times. It’s taken me years for me to be at a place where I let the Spirit talk peace over me and remind me that God’s timing is always best. Blessigs, my sweet friend!
