Promising Truth You Need to Know About Jesus

How well do you KNOW Jesus? The Books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are full of things Jesus said about Himself … promising truth that offers faith, hope, and love to bless us now and forever.
As we continue in John chapter 8, Jesus warns a group of unbelievers…
“You are from below; I am from above. You belong to this world; I do not. That is why I said that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am who I claim to be, you will die in your sins.”
John 8:23–24
They asked…
“Who are you?”
John 8:25a
And Jesus replied…
Jesus replied, “The one I have always claimed to be.”
John 8:25b
So, before we go further, let’s look at the promising truths Jesus claimed about Himself.
8 Promises Jesus Made About Being
The Messiah – The Son of God
- Jesus told her, “I am the Messiah!” (John 4:26)
- Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. (John 6:36)
- “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” (John 8:12)
- Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.” (John 11:25)
- Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)
- “Be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)
- The high priest asked Him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?”
Jesus said, “I am. And you will see the Son of Man seated in the place of power at God’s right hand and coming on the clouds of heaven.” (Mark 14:61–62) - “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices His life for the sheep.” (John 10:11)
So, the question we all have to ask ourselves is…
Do I believe that Jesus is who He says He is?
Do I believe Jesus is the One sent by God to save the world? Do I believe He is the only way to God’s saving grace for eternal life? Do I believe He is the “I AM,” one with the Father and the Spirit? Do I believe He will return to claim everyone who KNOWS, LOVES, and TRUSTS Him for all eternity?
I asked the internet, “Who is Jesus?”
Wikipedia began with…
“Jesus of Nazareth, and many other names and titles, was a first-century Jewish preacher and religious leader.”
And the Encyclopedia Britannica said…
“Jesus (born c. 6–4 BCE, Bethlehem—died c. 30 CE, Jerusalem) was a religious leader revered in Christianity, one of the world’s major religions.”
But John wrote…
We know that the Son of God has come, and He has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and He is eternal life.
1 John 5:20
And Paul wrote to the people in Corinth…
For Jesus Christ, the Son of God, does not waver between “Yes” and “No.” He is the one whom Silas, Timothy, and I preached to you, and as God’s ultimate “Yes,” He always does what He says.
2 Corinthians 1:19
The enemy and the world can’t deny that Jesus lived but want us to doubt that He is who He says He is and does what He says He will do.
You and I can proclaim Him the promised truth by God’s grace and the power of His Spirit. He is Jesus the Messiah, the Son of the Living God, the I AM … our Lord and Savior.
Let’s pray…
A Prayer Thanking God for the
Promising Truth About Jesus
Lord God, Your Word is an amazing gift to us. Your Spirit inspired every writer from Moses through John to point our hearts and minds to the promising truth about Jesus.
He graciously told us about You and accomplished all You sent Him to do. Through Him, we are promised a rich and satisfying life when we trust Him with repentant hearts. (John 10:10) Through Your Spirit, I believe the promising truth that Jesus is the Messiah who came to save me.
I am blessed to KNOW Him as the Way, the Truth, and the Life. I have peace because I TRUST that He is with me. And I am overwhelmed by His sacrificial love.
I love You, my Lord and Savior, and ask You to guide me. I am a weak and foolish sheep who needs a caring, protective Shepherd. I need You to light the way before me. I need the Bread of Life and Living Water to sustain me.
I believe! You are who You say You are and do what You said You will do. You are the promise keeper, and I praise You.
Once again, I surrender my life to You, Lord. Please give me the strength and courage I need to walk the path You have prepared, fully relying on You, the Great “I AM.” For Yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
Have you been disappointed by someone who has failed to keep their promises?
We live at a time when it’s a common belief that everyone lies, and between lies and unkept promises, many have reached a place where it’s hard for them to trust anyone or anything.
But God keeps His promises. He always has, and He always will!
Jesus is God in a human body. He kept His promise to come, live, die, and rise again to save people like you and me from sin, death, and the enemy’s power. He kept His promise to send His Spirit to be with us forever.
We can trust Him and proclaim with Paul…
[Jesus] is the only true God, and He is eternal life. (2 Corinthians 1:9)
God bless you as you trust the promising truth and surrender your heart to “I AM.”
We would love to pray for you.
