When You Need Extra Strength – Pray These Helpful Verses

The alarm goes off, and you can’t believe it’s morning already. You spent a restless night thinking about yesterday’s challenges, and today doesn’t look like it’s going to be much better.

You feel overwhelmed, unfit, and you need extra strength.

I don’t believe I’ve had a morning lately when I haven’t asked the Lord to give me extra strength to face the day ahead. And I realized you, like me, might need the Lord to replace your weakness with His strength.

If so, please join me as I ask the Lord to fill us with His Spirit and give us the extra strength we need…

Verses to Pray When You Need Extra Strength

Psalm 18:30-32

God’s way is perfect.
    All the Lord’s promises prove true.
    He is a shield for all who look to Him for protection.
For who is God except the Lord?
    Who but our God is a solid rock?
God arms me with strength,
    and He makes my way perfect.

Oh, Father, I need to hold these words in my heart today. Your ways are perfect, and Your promises are forever true. You graciously shield my heart and mind, protecting me from the enemy’s attacks. When I am weak. You are strong.

You are the Redeemer who saves me, giving me a firm foundation when the ground beneath feels unsteady. Thank you, Lord. I am undeserving of Your grace, mercy, and love, yet You generously provide. I love You. Please help me keep my heart and mind focused on You, Oh Lord, my strength. I trust that You are with me as I face the day ahead. Amen.

Isaiah 12:2

 See, God has come to save me.
    I will trust in Him and not be afraid.
The Lord God is my strength and my song;
    He has given me victory.”

Father God, when I pause to think about all the ways You have been with me in the past, giving me strength through events and circumstances that seemed impossible, I remember and celebrate that You are God, for whom anything is possible.

You faithfully give Your children strength when they humbly bring their uncertainty and anxiety to You. You have given victory in the past, and You will give victory in the future. You are my provider and my Savior. I will not be afraid. With Your Spirit’s help, I will live this day with the extra strength I have in You. Amen.

Joshua 1:9

“I have commanded you, ‘Be strong and courageous! Don’t tremble or be terrified, because the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.’ ”

Heavenly Father, the enemy of my soul continues to taunt me with foolish lies, telling me that I have to face this challenge alone and that this situation is greater than I can endure. I am so thankful Jesus told us to remember that the devil is the “father of lies.” I praise You for Your promise that I never have to face life’s challenges alone.

You are with me wherever I go. David wrote that You saw me as I was being created in the womb and that You know everything about every moment of my life. You even know my thoughts.

You know that I am feeling weak today. You know how badly I need the extra strength that only comes from You. With Your help, I will proclaim, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” I will trust Your plans and follow where You lead. Amen.

Exodus 15:2–3

The Lord is my strength and my song;
    He has given me victory.
This is my God, and I will praise Him—
    my father’s God, and I will exalt Him!
The Lord is a warrior;
    Yahweh is His name!

Lord God, You separated the waters to save Your people. You sustained them through decades in the wilderness. You led them and provided for them on a journey that You prepared, protecting them until they reached the Promised Land.

When they failed. You were faithful. When they were fearful. You gave them strength. When they complained. You showed them that Your way is better.

I thank You for faithfulness to every generation. You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. I can trust that You are who You say You are, and You are faithful to do what You say.

We can rely on Your promises, Yahweh. You are my strength. Any victory in my life comes from You. I worship You. I praise You. I love You with all that I am and all that I have. Amen.

Ephesians 3:20–21

Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to Him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Lord, I love these verses. They fill me with hope and give me the courage to face this day. You faithfully provide one day at a time. You have accomplished Your will in the past, and I believe You will accomplish it today.

I pray that I will have the extra strength I need to fulfill all that You have for me in this season. Please cover me with Your mercy and grace. Surround me with courageous people of faith, who will encourage me with the strength You have given them.

I’ve been blessed to know Your healing touch and comforting embrace. I believe You will hold me with Your victorious right hand. I desire nothing in this life more than loving and living for You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Lord is our strength and shield. He will keep His promise to give us what we need when He knows we need it. We can trust the King of kings and Lord of lords to give us extra strength today, tomorrow, and always. Praise the Lord!
