Do You Believe in Miracles? Tested Truth to Know
Do you believe in miracles?
Miracles are defined as…
♥ Events that appear inexplicable by the laws of nature and are believed to be supernatural in origin or an act of God. Something that causes wonder and astonishment, being extraordinary in itself and amazing or inexplicable by normal standards.
So, do you believe in miracles? I do!
I believe Jesus’ mother did, too. That’s why at the wedding in Cana, Mary acted confidently. She knew that God worked outside of the laws of nature.
Jesus was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and she lived for 30 years watching Him prepare for life-changing ministry.
So, we shouldn’t be surprised by her reaction to an uncomfortable situation…
There was a wedding celebration in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the celebration. The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus’ mother told Him, “They have no more wine.”
“Dear woman, that’s not our problem,” Jesus replied. “My time has not yet come.”
But His mother told the servants, “Do whatever He tells you.”
John 2:1–5
I love that! Don’t you picture a twinkle in her eye as she says those words?
Mary was confident her Son had the power to solve this situation. She may not have known what He would do but because she knew He was (and is) the loving, caring, and compassionate Son of God, she trusted Him to do something!
That’s faith! It is remembering the “impossible” miracles God has done in the past and trusting Him to do what is needed in the present and the future.
For the disciples and the servants at the wedding, this became a miracle to remember.
Standing nearby were six stone water jars, used for Jewish ceremonial washing. Each could hold twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus told the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” When the jars had been filled, he said, “Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” So the servants followed His instructions.
When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over. “A host always serves the best wine first,” he said. “Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!”
John 2:6–10
Jesus didn’t just make a small amount of average wine, He miraculously provided six huge stone jars full of the “best.”
Weddings at that time were week-long celebrations. We don’t know when they ran out of wine but we do know that because Jesus loved His mother and didn’t want the host to suffer embarrassment, He provided what was needed.
I believe He still provides miracles today, because…
- Rev survived open heart surgery that the medical staff didn’t believe his heart could endure.
- Our oldest grandson was born at 24 weeks weighing 1 lb. 9 oz. and is a happy healthy almost 17-year-old.
- I could go on with more and I believe you have something you could add as well.
When people try to tell me the Bible is just a book of fairy tales and fables, I always pray that God will show them all the impossible things He has done in the past and will continue to do today, tomorrow, and forever.
Yes, I believe in miracles because I believe in God! Do you?
Let’s pray…
I Believe in Miracles
A Prayer Thanking God
Father God, You are the God of the impossible. You are beyond our comprehension. But through Your Word and all that You do in the world around us, You make it possible for us to know and believe what You want us to KNOW about You.
You are the God of miracles. Creation is a miracle. Salvation is a miracle. Your Word is a miracle. Transformed hearts and lives are miracles.
Your Word tells us about the countless times You worked miraculously to accomplish Your plans and purposes in the past, and You continue to provide, heal, and impact lives through divine intervention today.
Thank you for sending Jesus to show us the impact of Your miraculous love.
Thank you for giving Him a human mother and for her words that remind us to “do whatever He tells us.” Thank you for Your Spirit who graciously gives us the courage and strength to trust and obey.
By Your grace, I believe in miracles because I believe You, Lord; please give me everything I need to trust and obey. Amen.
The Lord may not provide every miracle we pray for…
We pleaded for Rev to receive another miraculous healing last year. But that doesn’t mean God can’t or that He doesn’t care.
It only means He knows the end from the beginning. He sees the full picture of our lives and always does what He knows is best for us eternally even when we don’t understand now.
So, like Mary, may we do “whatever He tells” us, trusting that He will act with love, care, and compassion.
Remember…
“The same Jesus Who turned water into wine can transform your home, your life, your family, and your future. He is still in the miracle-working business, and His business is the business of transformation.” ~ Adrian Rogers
May the Lord bless you with His loving presence, care, and compassion. May you believe in miracles!

Our God the Almighty is a miracle working God.
I have witnessed some of the miracles in my life.
A particular one in reference was when my first grandson now 14 accidentally swallowed one inch iron nail.m at age two.
Nobody knew about it.
However, one day he stooled and the nail came out with the poo.
Only then it was discovered while trying to change the disposable nappy.
There was no surgery.
It was God’s miracle.
All glory to God. Amen
Thank you for visiting and for sharing this with us, Dr. Tunji! I can’t imagine what a shock that nappy change must have been and how you all must have praised God for His gracious protection. We’re praising Him with you! God bless you!
I do believe in miracles! When my son was twelve, he was misdiagnosed and his appendix ruptured. But God caused it to abscess so all the poison was contained within that. Yes, he had to have surgery and was very sick, but what should have killed him, didn’t. That’s just one example. He is a Good Father!
Thank you so much for sharing this with us, Cecilia. What a wonderful blessing! Praise God! He is a Good Father. May He be with you and bless you!
I really needed this message today.
This has been a difficult week on many levels.
Thank you so much for sharing.
May God comfort you in your times of need as well.
I’m so glad you were blessed and encouraged, Arista. Thanks for visiting and for your kind words. God bless you!
Pray for me and my family about transformation in every area of our lives
We are praying for you Mirriam. May the Lord hold you close and bless you abundantly.
Yes, I believe in miracles, without exception, Deb. All because we can know that God is a God of the possible. May He bless you always!
Amen, Martha! He is the God who makes all things possible every single day. Blessings and hugs!
I sure DO believe in miracles, having survived one myself. About 30 years ago I had Stage 4 colon cancer, from which I recovered fully, and I didn’t have one Chemo treatment or a colostomy or any other complications. I surprised everybody! I’m still here, am 85 years old, doing what I can in His name, and telling folks why. I’m sure He loves me, and I tell all who will listen that He loves them, too.
Thank you for this message today!
Oh, Mary, thank you so very much for sharing this with us. God is so very good! You have been blessed with many bonus days and I’m confident many have been blessed through you! Thanks for visiting! Blessings and hugs!
Miracles! Yes!!! Divine intervention too!!! In all of my years on this earth, I have witnessed so many miracles in my life. So many things that have happened that I can only explain as a miracle from God. When I was down to my last pennis and needed a certain amount to finish out paying my home rent for the month, God provided a miracle. Something I had on consignment at an Antique store, sold the day before I was to pay the rent. And it was the exact amount I needed. I could go on and on. An automobile accident that could have been fatal, was not, because for a miraculous reason, the traffic (which was usually very heavy at that time of the morning) was suddenly light with no cars coming in the lane that the car was knocked into. Like I said, I could go on and on. Oh yes! I definitely believe in miracles.
God is a God of miracles. I am so grateful HE IS MY GOD!!!
God bless you, my friend!
Thanks for sharing your miracles, Sue! I love that we can marvel at those things that God does in our lives that have no explanation other than His grace, mercy, and love. We are so very blessed! Hugs to you dear friend!
I truly loved this message Deb. While my faith often waivers, I’m always reminded of God’s love and faithfulness. Only He knows why, but He never waivered from my side. Not that long ago I was on the verge of losing my job – not due to my fault. As I waited on the decision, I left it in God’s hand. Each time doubt raised its head, I reminded myself how God took care of Elisha by ordering the ravens to feed him. So, kept telling myself, if He was a God of miracles than then He must be able to help me too. And He did. Just before the deadline, the entire action was reversed. He saved my job and rewarded with a promotion.
I like to remember a sentence from Max Lucado’s sermon when he said “stack your stones”, remember all of God’s previous answers of our prayers. That grows the faith.
Can’t even list how many times He saved my life, pulled me back from the edge of the cliff. Always providing exactly what I needed. Which sometimes also meant adversity. Yet He turned those moments to my benefit as well by shaping and growing me.
Amazing that I know the truth of what you said, know my history with God, yet oh so often I wonder away from Him, putting Him on the shelf….
Thanks for your beautiful comment, Gaby. I agree with Lucado! It is important to “Stack your stones” and remember all the good things God has done. When I remember the countless ways He has cared for me in the past, I have the strength I need to trust Him in the moment as I anticipate His future promises. Oh, what a gracious and good God we serve. God bless you always!
