How often do you pause to simply celebrate God and His love?

We know what it feels like to celebrate but what does it actually mean to celebrate God?

The Dictionary gives the word “celebrate” four simple meanings:

  1. to rejoice
  2. to observe
  3. to perform/participate (a solemn or religious ceremony)
  4. to praise publicly; proclaim

So, let me ask again…

How often do you celebrate God and His love?

The Message paraphrases Philippians 4:4 saying:

Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in Him!

God is worthy! We are to celebrate who He is and what He does. We can celebrate His promises. Promises He has always kept and promises He always will.

Jeremiah wrote:

Lord, there is no one like You! For You are great, and Your name is full of power.

Jeremiah 10:6

His Word tells us that He is the “I AM.” God almighty. Jehovah. Creator. Savior. Comforter.

And He promises that when we SEEK Him over everything else, He will give us everything we need.

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and He will give you everything you need.

Luke 12:31

He knows we need forgiveness. Comfort. Peace. Strength. Grace. Mercy. Peace. And He generously gives us everything we need because He LOVES. He is the Lion of Judah. The Great I AM. Victorious. Righteous. Unfailing. Father. Savior. And Lord.

And those things are just a short list of reasons we have to celebrate God both for what He does and most importantly, for who He is.

So, let’s take a look at simple ways we can celebrate:

5 Simple Ways to Celebrate God & His Love

1. REJOICE – Turn Up the Praise Music – Sing and dance for joy.

I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about Your unfailing love.

Psalm 59:16

2. REMEMBER – Keep a Blessings Journal – Write down what God is doing in your life.

Remember the things I have done in the past. For I alone am God! I am God, and there is none like me.

Isaiah 46:9

3. OBSERVE – Celebrate Blessing Anniversaries – Mark your calendar and celebrate anniversaries of God’s protection and blessings.

I will praise you forever, O God, for what you have done.

Psalm 52:9

4. PARTICIPATE – Set Up a “Be Still” Corner – Set up a quiet place where you can be away from noise and technology. A place to pray, read, and fellowship with God.

Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”

Psalm 46:10

5. PROCLAIM – Love God and Love People – Be kind. Smile. Be encouraging. And tell people about the God who loves them.

Always be ready to tell everyone who asks you why you believe as you do.” 1 Peter 3:15

1 Peter 3:15

A Prayer to Celebrate God and His Love

Father, You are so very gracious and good, loving and kind. Thank you! You are generous with blessings giving me so many things to celebrate. I pause today to remember that more than simply celebrating the wonderful things You do . . . I want to celebrate who You are. You are Creator, Savior, and Comforter. You are YAHWEH – I AM. You are Lord of lords and King of kings.

Please forgive me for selfishly focusing on what You do more than who You are. If You never gave me another thing, the gift of Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life is more than enough to celebrate. Through Him, I have Faith, Hope, and Love. And when I SEEK You first and You fill me with Your Spirit . . . I have everything I need.

By Your grace, I will celebrate. I will rejoice, observe, participate, and proclaim. I will celebrate Your love all day, every day. I give myself to You, my Savior and my God. Amen.

Pause today and make a list of the ways God has answered your prayers, the times He has protected you and provided for you, and the times His Spirit has guided and comforted you.

Last month, our family celebrated 15 years of bonus days. Here’s a post I wrote several years ago telling the story of one of our Blessing Anniversaries.

Celebrate God. Sing together—everyone! All you honest hearts, raise the roof!
Psalm 32:11 (MSG)

Before you go, take a minute to tell us about one of your blessing anniversaries or a special way your family celebrates God.

May God be with you and bless you today as you revel in God and celebrate Him all day, every day!

We would love to pray for you.
You can leave your prayer requests here

and even take a few minutes to pray over the list left by our friends.

Oh Deb, how we all need to praise and celebrate the Glory of God more and more! Can we ever praise or thank Him enough? Psalm 116:12 What shall I render unto the Lord for all His benefits toward me? 1st Chronicles 16:9 Sing unto Him, sing psalms unto Him, talk ye of all His wondrous works.
Resting inside the heart of God makes makes my heart overflow with life transforming joy! One of my favorite framed quotes says
“Seeing our Father in everything makes life one long thanksgiving and gives a rest of heart, and more than that, a gayety of spirit that is unspeakable!” I could go on and on…but there is no celebration as joyful as our Celebration of Victory in God, the Holy Father of all! My intent is to Celebrate HIM nonstop!
    PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!

    1. What a wonderful quote, Kathy! I love it! Celebrate Jesus – there is nothing better in life. God bless you, my friend!

  4. Every morning before I get out of bed I thank God for giving me the day and also for all he has done for me in the past. All of the trials I have gone through, He is always there. I love the Lord and I am thankful that I have Him more than anything. Yes!! I do celebrate God everyday!!

I am grateful everyday for having God in my life. I praise Him first thing in the morning before I get out of bed and all through the day. Thank you for these wonderful words of wisdom that you send.
I enjoy getting them very much and I look forward to them.

    1. Thanks for your kindness and encouragement, Susan. Every day is a gift and there is no better way to start the day than with worship and praise. God bless you and surround you with His love.

  6. We just lost our kitty of 13 years this morning. I’m still trying to grasp what happened. In the past 2 days she was practically back to normal….running for food, eating and drinking on her own. Then suddenly she started to gasp for air and in minutes she was gone.
I’m trying to wrap my brain around it but Billy was right when he directed my focus to Jesus.
Jesus promised that He will be with us in the fire and in the storm. That when we walk through the fire, it can’t burn us, and the waves can’t overcome us because He’s with us.
He promised that He doesn’t allow bigger temptation than what we can bear, and with that He supplies the strength to get through.
I surrendered this little cat in His care the other day and I’m sure that He will do the best for all of us. His love is endless. Jesus said that our pain, sadness and joy matters to Him. He cried for and with His friends while here on earth ….why would it be any different now? He’s the same, nothing changed.
Recently I heard in a sermon that FAITH IS A CHOICE… I keep repeating to myself, along with my decision that I CHOOSE FAITH ????????, no matter what. Regardless how things look, I know Who I believed to.
So I thanked Jesus for allowing us to have her for all these years, enjoy her feisty, spunky personality and the immense love she gave and asked for.
Since she got sick I spent my time, heart on her, and now suddenly there is a HUGE void. Automatically I look at her usual spots and there is just emptiness….
I believe they will wait for us. Jesus knows how important they were to us, the love we had for them…..after all, the Eden was full of animals. God didn’t create them by accident or temporarily.
While my heart knows the right answers, the pain and pang is just to much to deal with at the moment. But God said in Jeremiah 33, that – “6 I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security. 7 I will bring Judah and Israel back from captivity and will rebuild them as they were before.”
He knows our pain and will heal it…..right now everything is raw. I still smell her fresh, sunsoaked fur, putting away her little things….but Jesus promised that He’s with us every step of the way, even in pain and sorrow….
    FAITH IS A CHOICE…..

    1. Oh, Gaby, I’m so sorry. Our little fur-loves are so much a part of our families. Our daughter calls our pup, “sis.” They are blessings from God that add so much love to our homes. I am praying and asking the Lord to hold you very close and comfort your hurting heart. Sending you hugs!

      1. ???????????? blessings Deb for caring and the love. I keep harping on that she showed all signs of recovery….how do you turn around and die from there? But Billy is right…we don’t need to understand everything just Trust our Heavenly Father and His love. She didn’t even had a chance to suffer, probably barely understood what was happening which is a huge mercy on it’s own ❤️????????

  7. Susan Jackson says:

    Gaby,

I am so sad for you. I truly am. It hurts so bad to lose our fur friends. I lost the last of my four fur babies a couple of years ago. She was almost 19 years old. I loved all of them and I lost one a year for four years in a row. They were all old, except for one. She was not quite 12 years old. I lost her on December 28, three days after Christmas. And, like you, I was by her side constantly. I feel your hurt. God gave us our pets to show us how unconditional love is on earth. Through them, we get a taste of what his unconditonal love is. I call them “angels on earth!”
You are in my prayers. I did collect their things and had to let them go………..well, all but a few of their favorite toys. I still have them and get them out and relive the sweet memories.
    God bless you sweet lady.

    Susan

    1. Oh Susan, I’m grateful for the prayers and wishing you all the Lord’s blessings. I’m so sorry for your loss my dear. It’s one of the hardest thing to say goodbye to them year after year and tear up the scab of the wounds.
I LOVE your parallel of their unconditional love and the Lord’s!!!! So beautifully and perfectly said. So many times we wish to have some tangible evidence….it hardly gets more real than this.
We are a family of misfits – both us humans, as our pets. Thankfully this world didn’t want any of us but by God’s grace we became a blessed family. Our cats were led by the Lord to our yard who were discarded by their owners, or born outside searching for a home. Our dogs are also rescues. They both have health problems, especially the little husky who is epileptic. We always praise the Lord’s planning and love, how He brought her to us. My husband also has a form of epilepsy, so we both can relate and understand. Jesus works miracles…..even in the furry ones’ lives.
While we too had a long line of pets lost over the decades, none of them lived to the ripe age of yours. Still, each time we loose one of them we leave a part of our heart behind.
I’m grateful for your prayers and I also keep you in mine ????????
Wishing you all the Lord’s blessings
