When You Need a Miracle Offer God What You Have

What do you do when you need a miracle because you lack something you need?
We’ve all had times when we lacked the resources necessary to get through our current circumstances; times when we’re physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually inadequate and our supply is insufficient.
That may be why I’ve always loved reading the Biblical account of the Feeding of the Five Thousand…
Jesus soon saw a huge crowd of people coming to look for Him. Turning to Philip, He asked, “Where can we buy bread to feed all these people?” He was testing Philip, for He already knew what he was going to do.
Philip replied, “Even if we worked for months, we wouldn’t have enough money to feed them!”
Then Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up. “There’s a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that with this huge crowd?”
John 6:5–9
Thousands of people and one little boy who graciously offered his lunch to help feed as many as he could. It’s almost comical, isn’t it? It’s easy to understand Andrew’s reaction, “What good is that?”
When we desperately need a miracle it can feel like there’s never enough.
But this little boy with child-like faith showed us that God’s grace through Jesus is all we need for the challenge before us no matter how great it seems…
“My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.”
2 Corinthians 12:9
Yes, we’re weak and often lack what we think we need but when we give what we have to the Lord, we open the door to His all-sufficient grace and miraculous power…
“Tell everyone to sit down,” Jesus said. So they all sat down on the grassy slopes. (The men alone numbered about 5,000.) Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks to God, and distributed them to the people. Afterward He did the same with the fish. And they all ate as much as they wanted.
John 6:10–11
We KNOW, LOVE, and TRUST the One who can take what we believe is insufficient to accomplish the impossible turning it into more than enough and more than we imagine.
When you and I need a miracle, it’s time to go to God with child-like faith and offer Him what we have. Then we watch and enthusiastically prepare to see God do what He alone can do.
The Life Application Notes add…
“God gives in abundance. He takes whatever we can offer Him in time, ability, or resource and multiplies its effectiveness beyond our wildest expectations.”
May we offer God what we have and trust Him to give us what we need.
Let’s pray…
A Prayer Offering What You Have
When You Need a Miracle
Heavenly Father, the task ahead looks impossible. So much is needed and I have so little. I’m feeling overwhelmed.
But I look at Your creation and see a miracle. I see illnesses healed, needs replaced with plenty, fears defeated by courage, and broken lives transformed by grace. You are God and everything is possible for You.
I am guilty of worrying about what’s lacking rather than trusting You with my needs. Like the disciples, I try to find my own solutions rather than coming to You for help and direction. Please forgive me.
By Your grace, bless me with child-like faith. When I see a need, please give me the conviction I need to offer You what I have trusting that You can use it to accomplish Your will.
You change lives through a single testimony. You move mountains through impassioned and empowered individuals. You turn a child’s lunch into a feast for thousands.
I wonder how many miracles go unnoticed. Please open my eyes to see Your wonderful truth around me. I offer You my heart, my soul … my all. Please use me for Your glory. In Jesus’ holy name, I pray. Amen.
When you and I come to the Lord with child-like faith and offer Him whatever we have to be used however He desires … we will see miracles. Miracles that bless and encourage us and testify of the love of our gracious and merciful God.
David wrote…
Those who know Your name trust in You,
Psalm 9:10
for You, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for You.
When we need a miracle—trust the Lord.
David wrote…
O Lord my God, You have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all Your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.
Psalm 40:5
We may believe we have too little to give. We may question our ability to help or make a difference.
But God…
He can and He will graciously take what we offer Him with child-like faith and use it to give us what He knows we need.
We would love to pray for you.

after death and in heaven will i be united with my wife and family again
What a good question, Dave. Jesus said that it will not be the same as marriage is here but He didn’t tell us what it will be. Because Scripture tells us about the people who recognized and knew each other in heaven, I do believe we will be together in heaven. Although we can’t be sure how exactly, we can be sure it will be perfect. God be with you and bless you!
