What if Everyone Stopped to PRAY for America

Sharing is caring!

Our country needs prayer more than ever. Please join me as I P.R.A.Y. for America.

Happy Independence Day! I’ve shared the story before of my wrong answer to a newscaster as to why we celebrate the 4th of July, with the camera rolling and a microphone in my face of course. I blanked! At that moment, I was definitely not smarter than a fifth grader or any other grade level for that matter. It was not this teacher’s proudest moment.

Since then I have made it a point to be even more aware of the blessings we enjoy as a nation and the history that has made them possible.

I am thankful for the men and women who have courageously sacrificed for the U.S.A. that we might enjoy the rights and freedoms for which our founding fathers took a stand back in 1776.

Please join me in praying for America, and take a moment to add your own prayers in each of the blank sections below:

Praise

P – Father, we praise You for the blessing of freedom which we enjoy by Your grace and mercy. We remember daily the personal freedom we have through Jesus, and on this day we thank you for our national freedom. We know and understand that freedom is costly and comes through sacrifice. Thank You for those who have willingly sacrificed for our freedom.

Let us praise the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has come to help His people and has given them freedom. Luke 1:68 (NCV)

Father, I praise You…

Repent

R – Father, we repent of the sins of our nation. We don’t love and obey You as we should. We ignore and disobey. We don’t love and help each other as You have asked. We selfishly strive to take care of ourselves. Please forgive us. May we fall before You confessing our sin and turn from our stubborn ways to follow You.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)

Father, Please forgive me…

Ask

A – Father, we ask that You would be the Lord of our nation. We pray that You would work in the hearts and minds of our nations leaders to move them to guide our country in a way that is pleasing to You. We also pray that You would work in the hearts and minds of each individual citizen that they might come to know You as God and Father, and Your Son, Jesus, as Lord and Savior by the power of the Holy Spirit.

What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the LORD our God is near us whenever we pray to Him? Deuteronomy 4:7 (NIV)

Father, I ask…

Yield

Y – Father, we yield ourselves to Your care and keeping. May we honor You with our lives individually and as a nation. You are our God. We humble ourselves before You. We trust You. We thank-you for making us Your own.

Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Psalm 25:4-5 (NIV)

Father, I surrender all to You…

Amen. May God bless America.
