Don’t Compromise – SEEK the Savior for Truth and Life
Can you relate to Nicodemus?
He was a Pharisee who grew up in the faith and became a church leader who knew God’s Laws backward and forwards. Jesus often criticized Pharisees for being hypocrites who cared more about their authority and power than obeying and glorifying God from their hearts.
But Nicodemus was different. He was an observer with questions and those questions led him to SEEK the Savior for answers.
There was a man named Nicodemus, a Jewish religious leader who was a Pharisee. After dark one evening, he came to speak with Jesus. “Rabbi,” he said, “we all know that God has sent You to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with You.”
John 3:1–2
Nicodemus was an open-minded SEEKer who went to Jesus for the answers to his questions.
So, let me ask you again…
Can you relate?
Jesus said…
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.
Matthew 6:33
Although Nicodemus belonged to the hypocritical sect, Jesus welcomed his seeking and through their late-night meeting, we know important truths we need for eternal life.
We know…
1. The importance of being born again to new life in Christ Jesus.
Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”
“I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.”
John 3:3, 5–8
2. New life in Christ Jesus is a gift from God.
The Son of Man has come down from heaven … so the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life.
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him.
John 3:13b, 14b-17
If you’ve read my bio, you know I grew up much like Nicodemus, believing that knowing and obeying God’s rules was essential for anyone who wanted to experience God’s blessings. I tried not to be hypocritical, but anyone who minimizes their personal failures while judging everyone else’s is waving the Pharisee flag.
Although we are indeed blessed when we trust and obey, we are also promised “trials and sorrows.” (John 16:33) It was those hard-to-understand struggles that made a SEEKer out of this questioning Pharisee.
We don’t know what led Nicodemus to Jesus, but we do KNOW that Jesus never turns away anyone who humbly and honestly SEEKs God’s Kingdom through Him.
That’s how much the Lord loves sinners like you and me. God sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to suffer our punishment and make it possible for us to be born again to eternal life.
And His Son welcomes all who SEEK to KNOW God through Him.
Let’s pray…
A Prayer to SEEK the Savior
Father, thank you for wanting us to KNOW the importance of SEEKing Your TRUTH for Life. So many of the religious leaders in Jesus’ day believed they knew all the answers leading to rely on self-righteousness.
Sadly, there continue to be hypocritical self-righteous people in the church today. Please forgive us and guide us through Your Spirit to humbly SEEK the Savior, Jesus, who taught the TRUTH about Your Kingdom, Love, and Saving Grace.
Please help me want a relationship with You, through faith in Jesus and give me the strength I need to obey Your will because I love You and trust that You only want what is best for me.
I surrender myself to You. Please work in me and transform me … make me more like Jesus. By Your grace and the power of Your Spirit mold me and make me the person You created me to be. In the precious name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus. Amen.
The following words of Oswald Chambers blessed me…
“If Jesus is a teacher only, then all He can do is to tantalize us by erecting a standard we cannot come anywhere near. But if by being born again from above we know Him first as Savior, we know that He did not come to teach us only. He came to make us what He teaches we should be. The Sermon on the Mount is a statement of the life we will live when the Holy Spirit is having His way with us.”
I want to KNOW the TRUTH that leads to life.
The enemy wants us to compromise and believe many paths lead to LIFE but Paul wrote…
There is one body and one Spirit,
Ephesians 4:4–6
just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future.
There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
one God and Father of all,
who is over all, in all, and living through all.
One Father. One Lord and Savior. One Spirit. And One TRUTH that leads to the life that lasts forever.
May the Lord bless you abundantly as you SEEK the Savior.
We would love to pray for you.

WOW! Hallelujah and Amen❣️. For years during my adult life, I called myself a hypocrite, but with 1 difference. I believed in God, but was a rule breaker. A little bit wild I guess. My mom used to call me an actress. That may be the most accurate. Trying different roles until I found just the right one…child of God❤️.
Oh, Lord, help me every day to seek you, know you and love you. Beautiful inspiration here today, Deb. Blessings!
