Wise people past and present know the uselessness of worry and my goal is to join their club. I will read and reread these quotes and do my best to remember to do what I can and leave the rest to God.

I love the too busy, too sleepy quote. That has been the truth of my mothering journey.
I just finished reading How to Overcome Worry by Dr. Winfred Neely, and like you, he takes me to Scripture for a renewed appreciation of God’s sovereignty.
Thank you for today’s encouragement Deb.
A funny story …..
This drama happened this morning. I got into the car and it didnt turn on. I went over to the bonnet checked it. You won’t believe the battery was gone.
I called this and that person and expressed how angry and confused that the battery was stolen from the car.
My dauughter said this is the best time to pray.
Lord, I want my battery back and I want to know who did this!
Guess what, I went back there after an hour of fussing around and I discovered my car was never tampered with.
I didn’t check properly 😉
Hilarious how worried I had been about getting new batteries and all.
Lesson learnt: Guess what sometimes we pour our energy into the wrong stuff.
That prayer saved the day….nothiing was wrong and my eyes saw what my mind was thinking…..
Be careful before riunning wild with emotions.
Praising God for that.
Thanks for all these beautiful quotes Deb
Lovely weekend to you
Ifeoma, this is so funny! And you are right; how quickly we fret sometimes about a big fat nothing!!
One time when I lived in Africa someone DID steal our battery. But the Lord provided for us like He always does. Someone must have needed it worse than we did.
Hilarious
I am happy it ended that way!
Thanks Ruth. God teaches us in funny ways sometimes ??
Hi Deb! Thanks for sharing these encouraging quotes about worry – or not worrying. The non-scripture quotes were really cool (I was tickled reading some of them), and the scripture quotes were quite edifying! I’m sharing them with my kids.
Thanks for hosting and have a blessed week!
Ah, you always know just what I need to hear, Deb. I have called it stress all week, but it’s really worry…which comes from fear. I love the quote, “If you want to test your memory, try to recall what you were worrying about one year ago today. ~E. Joseph Cossman” That should help me put things into perspective today. Always a blessing to be here. I haven’t had time this week for any blog-related stuff, but I never want to miss your party.
Thank you Deb for such a timely post. I love the way you had the bible verses and the quotes in parallel. My favourite is: “be still and know that I am God”. And you have CH Spurgeon’s quote, ” if God cares for you, need you care too?” It does help to trust what God is already doing on our behalf. Why do we need to have sleepless nights worrying when the one who watches over us does not sleep or slumber? Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for hosting!
Always a great post – here’s another quote from a man in our growth group: Obviously worry works because 90% of the stuff I worry about never happens!
haha
thanks, Deb!
Great quotes! I love the one by Horace Fletcher. Isn’t that the truth, though!!
Thanks for sharing these encouraging quotes and scriptures!
Deb- what a great list! My favorite is Corrie ten Boom’s, for her to write that considering what she went through. What a huge testimony of faith!
As a natural worrier, I need these reminders constantly. Thanks for compiling a great list of encouragement.
Love these quotes. Thank you for putting them together in such a beautiful post.
Deb,
Wow! Thank you so much for featuring Christin’s post! She absolutely blew me away with the depth and beauty of her words. Always love my time here 3
Hugs,
Lori
You always give us such valuable nuggets, Deb. I don’t “think” I’m too much of a worrier, but you have certainly given me something to think about and chew on!
