The Best Way to Share Your Faith

Sharing is caring!

Do you know a Christian who looks like they were baptized in pickle juice?Whose faith is full of rules & judgement? What's the best way to share your faith?
Do you know anyone who shares their faith through rules, judgments, accusations, and arguments. Do you?

Christians who go around “looking like they were baptized in pickle juice” rarely make someone want to join the flock of the faith-filled.

On the other hand, have you ever met a believer who has inspired you to want a closer relationship with Jesus. Who’s love, joy, peace, patience, trust, and passion for life has made you want more of what they have? Big faith.

What is big faith?

1. Wikipedia says: Faith is the confident belief or trust in the truth or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing.
2. About.com says: Faith is belief with strong conviction; firm belief in something for which there may be no tangible proof; complete trust; opposite of doubt.
3. Martin Luther says:  Faith is God’s work in us, that changes us and gives new birth from God.
4. Hebrews 11:1 says: Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

Sometimes we can make faith too simple by saying – You just need to believe Jesus is your personal Savior. Other times we make it too complicated by giving them every little detail, rule, and obligation.

So what is the best way to share your faith in a way that makes people want what you have?

1. Care about them.
2. Don’t preach. Listen.
3. Just be friends.

St. Francis of Assisi said: “Preach the Gospel always and use words if necessary.”

Is someone asks…

4. Talk about specific times God gave you peace, hope, or strength, etc.

Worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. 1 Peter 3:15

Keep it simple and personal.

The “Five-Second Gospel,” by Judson Poling:

  • God loves us – He is loving, holy, and just.
  • We blew it – We are sinful, deserve death, and are helpless to fix it.
  • Christ paid for it – He is God, died in our place, and offers forgiveness as a gift.
  • We must receive Him – We receive Him as we surrender to Him through repentance resulting in forgiveness, and giving Him leadership over our lives resulting in our spiritual transformation by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Friends, we should be engaging, winsome, and joy-filled. We should live in a way that makes people want to know why.

Jesus is why!! He is the hope that is in us!

Quotes about Faith Sharing

“Jesus teaches us another way: Go out. Go out and share your testimony, go out and interact with your brothers, go out and share, go out and ask. Become the Word in body as well as spirit.” ~Pope Francis

“I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains, hope that doesn’t ever end, even when the sky is falling. I’ve seen miracles just happen, silent prayers get answered, broken hearts become brand new — That’s what faith can do”  ~Kutless

“Believe! Believe in the limitless supply of God’s goodness. The universe is filled with more wonders than you can imagine.” ~Wilferd A. Peterson

“My worldview, my philosophy, my attitudes, my relationships, my parenting, my marriage – everything has been transformed by my relationship with Christ.” ~Lee Strobel

“I want to be part of a church that, as the full-orbed body of Christ, reflects the radiant beauty and attractiveness of God’s love, grace, forgiveness, salvation, and hope, for this life and for an eternity of fellowship together with one another as well as with him!” ~Mark Mittelberg

So, if you are invited to share your story of faith, be prepared. Think about how you might answer questions about the differences in your life since you’ve received Jesus. Be prepared to share His love with words or without.

  1. Loved your hyperbolic description of looking like we’ve been baptized in pickle juice – how unseemly and unattractive! Yes, we should exude the joy and peace which abides in us because of Jesus’ love for us and ready to tell others in our actions and words if required, why we are filled with joy.
    Blessings, Deb!
