When You Need a New Attitude
Do you ever wake up in the morning and realize before you get out of bed . . . “Ooh, I’m in a mood today?”
You don’t know why. Nothing particularly bad happened. But your nerves are on edge. Or the opposite is true . . . you’ve got the blues. And you just know the next 15+ hours aren’t going to be easy.
Now what? Do you decide to give in to your feelings and have a bad day or do you stop and pray, ask for God’s help, and then charge ahead trusting His ability to give you a new attitude.
To give you a little encouragement toward that new attitude and to brighten your day . . . here’s a list:

For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. If you serve Christ with this attitude, you will please God, and others will approve of you, too. Romans 14:17–18

God’s Word is living and powerful. It is sharper than a sword that cuts both ways. It cuts straight into where the soul and spirit meet and it divides them. It cuts into the joints and bones. It tells what the heart is thinking about and what it wants to do. Hebrews 4:12

This quote has always inspired me:
“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. -John Lennon
I used to always say that I wanted to be happy when I grew up. I had professional aspirations, of course, but they were always second place to living a good life 🙂
Personally, Deb, I really like your quote! Thanks for the inspiration!
Blessings!
The Steven Furtick quote is great – I’m guilty of focusing on the highlight reel and thinking mine pales in comparison. And yes – it’s a conscious effort some days to give the negative, grumpy thoughts to God and let Him take them captivity. Thanks for sharing a wealth of encouragement, Deb! #testimonytuesday
That’s Rev’s favorite too Tiffany. It’s a great quote. Now if I can just consistently practice it! 🙂
I like Corallie Buchanan’s quote. Speaks volumes
Great quotes! Love the Corallie Buchanan quote! God has a comeback for our every perceived setback!!! Thank you for sharing the positive today because it is something we all need.
Deb, I was encourage by all of these great quotes. Your Scripture references tugged at my heart. Especially … May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 15:5–6
I love that Charlotte Bronte quote! I need that advice sometimes. 🙂 Thanks for linking up at #ThreeWordWednesday.
I like the quote “Act the way you want to feel”. Kind of profound in such a simplistic way! I work from home and it’s easy to just walk upstairs in my pj’s and begin my work day BUT I find my attitude is so much better when I take the time to brush my hair, groom, get dressed, etc. We all need an attitude adjustment at times! Great tips, truths, in this post. I’m next door at TWW #10.
“Promise me you’ll always remember: You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” Winnie the Pooh
This a quote resonates with me.
I’ve always liked that quote too Sheryl!
Deb,
The quote I find most inspiring is the one by Charlotte Bronte. My days go better when I consistently look up to the Lord, rather than to what is around me or within me.
Blessings!
