Are you waiting for your prayers to be answered? Do you need patience? It's hard to be stuck in a pit waiting for God's help but at the right time and in His perfect way He will provide what you need. #Patience #Faith #Blessings #WWGGG

How’s it going? Do you need patience?

How do you define what it means to be patient?

Augustine said…

“Patience is the companion of wisdom.”

The Dictionary defines it as:

1. The bearing of provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain, without complaint, loss of temper, irritation, or the like.
2. The ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with a delay.
3. Quiet, steady perseverance; even-tempered care; diligence.

I reread Psalm 40 today and looked at David’s words hit me differently…

I waited patiently for the Lord to help me,
and He turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the pit of despair,
out of the mud and the mire.

Psalm 40:1–2

I always focused on the part about God lifting David out of the pit but today I paused to wonder how long he had waited patiently in the pit before God helped him out.

God hears us when we cry out to Him from the pit and like you and me, I believe David tried everything he could imagine to claw his way out of that pit himself. Yet, nothing worked. We all get stuck in the mud and the mire at times.

Isn’t it wonderful to know God gave David patience while he waited and rescued him when the time was right?

And at that right time when David’s waiting was over and rescue occurred … David glorified God!

Many will see what He has done and be amazed.
They will put their trust in the Lord.

Psalm 40:3b

So, today let’s pray and ask God to help us wait patiently for His “right time” giving Him glory so that many will trust in Him because of the way He worked in our lives.

Prayers for God’s Help When You Need Patience

May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.

2 Thessalonians 3:5

Father God, I don’t wait well. Too often, I put my displeasure on full display before I pause to pray and ask You for patience and understanding. I now realize that my frustrated impatience does not honor You.

I’m so sorry. Please forgive me. Your Word says that You will give me what I need to do Your will when I come to You in faith.

Lord, I need Your help to endure the challenges before me. Please graciously give me the patience and strength I need to walk in faith and trust Your timing and provision. Amen.

Wait patiently for the Lord.
    Be brave and courageous.
Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.

Psalm 27:14

Lord, I want to be brave and courageous. I want to trust Your timing but I admit fear and temptation get the better of me. Please forgive me.

I believe You are who You say You are. I trust Your love and perfect will for me today and eternally. But it’s hard to wait for the healing, restoration, and provision I desperately want. I hate it when doubt creeps in and weakness takes over. Please rescue me.

I believe You will give me whatever I need when I surrender to You in faith. I believe You will make me brave and courageous enough to face the challenges You allow. I trust You. Please help me trust Your timing and Your ways. Amen.

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Galatians 5:22–23a

Father, I am unable to do any of these things well without Your Spirit’s help. I’m not as loving, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, or gentle as You desire. My self-control is as fickle as my moods and circumstances. Please forgive me.

I humbly ask You to fill me with Your Spirit and give me everything I need to produce the “fruit” You want to see in my life. I give every part of myself to You and ask You to give me the wisdom and patience I need. Amen.

But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.) And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.

Romans 8:25–26

Lord, when I need to wait patiently and confidently I believe it is Your Spirit who makes it possible. I get so upset about the “mud and the mire” around me that waiting patiently is the last thing on my mind. Oh, how the enemy loves to poke at me with doubt and fear.

But You know my every thought and need. You know what is best for me. If I am faced with a delay it’s because You have a plan and a purpose.

Thank you for this promise. It comforts me to know that Your Spirit is praying for what He knows I need. Because of this promise, I can sit quietly in Your presence trusting that even when I can’t express my heart, You know my needs and provide what is best. Thanks and praise forever. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

I found the following quote helpful…

“Appearances can be deceptive. The fact that we cannot see what God is doing does not mean that He is doing nothing. The Lord has His own timetable. It is we who must learn to adjust to it, not vice versa. When God’s time comes nothing will stand in His way. We can therefore wait for Him with this happy confidence: “As for God, His way is perfect” (2 Samuel 22:31).” ~ Sinclair B. Ferguson

So, how are you doing?

Do you need patience? Trust that the Spirit is with and within you. He knows every need and He’s praying for you.

So, while you wait…

May the Lord bless you and give you everything you need … including patience.
