5 Reasons to Thank God that Never Change and Last Forever
To all my friends in the U.S.— HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
The last couple of years have been full of challenges but when we pause and really think about it . . . we have so many reasons to thank God.
I was so excited when I realized that our chapter today was 1 John 4. It is another one of my favorites and gives us a list of things for which we can be thankful even when the present is challenging and the future uncertain.
Because some things never change. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8) We can trust John’s testimony about the One to whom he had surrendered his life.
- We are God’s chosen children. Jesus won the victory over sin, death, and the devil. His Spirit lives in us and gives us victory over the things of this world.
♥ You belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.
1 John 4:4
2. God loves us with perfect love that lasts forever.
♥ God is love. God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.
1 John 4:8b–9
3. God’s Spirit in us is proof that we really belong to Him forever and always.
♥ God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us.
1 John 4:13
4. God’s love is perfect and just . . . through His love we have everything we need to love each other.
♥ God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.
1 John 4:16b
5. We don’t have to be afraid of anything this life can offer because we have His promise to give us everything we need each day and the promise of a future with Him in heaven forever.
♥ As we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear.
1 John 4:17–18a
Whatever happens in our lives those five truths about God that never change and last forever give us all the reasons we need to be thankful today and always.
Thank God!
A Prayer Thanking God for His Forever Blessings
Father, You create because You love. You care for us because You love. You sent Jesus to save us because You love. You enable us to love each other well because You fill us with Your love. And You promise all who come to You through faith in Jesus a forever future with You in heaven because You love.
Thank you for making me Your child. Thank for giving me people to love . . . for my family, friends, and the countless people who encourage me. Thank you for home. Thank you for giving me something to do. Thank you for the beauty of creation. And thank you for covering it all with love that lasts forever. I thank and praise You, God, with my whole heart for my whole life. Amen.
I’m asking God to bless you today and give you countless reasons to thank Him and celebrate His love.
On today’s note write:
The best reason for thanksgiving is thanking God for His love.
May God bless you today and every day. May He surround you with His unchanging forever love.
Happy Thanksgiving Deb! And to all your readers…Happy Thanksgiving!
Your posts are a blessing and thankful to start my mornings here.
I agree, despite challenges, there are lots of reasons to be thankful. It’s the small things we overlook when life feels heavy…this week, I was grateful for the sun…my new job, and family and friends…I remind myself to see the wins, even when it feels like I’m losing…the Lord’s promises, and your gentle reminders are also reasons to be thankful! Have a wonderful day!
Thank you, Lily! Happy Thanksgiving to you as well. Your encouragement is a wonderful blessing and so greatly appreciated. God bless you!
I am thankful for many things in my life and one of them is certainly your blog Deb! Thank you for your faithfulness in putting this together and for your constant encouragement in the faith
Thank you for your kindness, Ken! I feel so very blessed that the Lord has made it possible for me to do this.
