Do you ever feel discouraged . . . like evil is winning?

The news and social media seem to promote a secular religion and a culture that opposes Biblical truths.

Is it any wonder that many of us are starting to feel more and more isolated and alone as efforts are made to silence Christians while allowing the voices of hate and division to grow louder and louder? Is it any wonder many are uncomfortable speaking out in faith?

Isaiah wrote:

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.

Isaiah 5:20

And I wonder how often we look around sadly wondering what, if anything, we can do.

Paul walked into a similar atmosphere in Corinth—a place that exceeded Athens in importance, that was a center of political and commercial power and famous for its profound wickedness and immorality. The temple in Corinth was the place for worship of the goddess of love and war, Aphrodite . . . there, people were invited to worship her with gifts of money in exchange for the services of male and female prostitutes. Anything a person wanted sexually was not only available it was encouraged.

Luke wrote:

Paul devoted himself exclusively to preaching, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Messiah. But when they opposed Paul and became abusive, he shook out his clothes in protest and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent of it. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”

Acts 18:5–6

He could have felt utterly hopeless and disheartened. He could have given up.

But…

The Lord showed up in a vision and said:

Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.”

Acts 18:9–10

Those words are true for you and me as well!

Jesus wants us to know that there are many who belong to Him—far more than our eyes can see! And by His grace, we can speak the truth of His Word in faith with love . . .unafraid because He is with us. He is alive and the Kingdom is growing.

God wants you to know there are many who belong to—more than our eyes can see! And by His grace, we can speak the truth of His Word in faith with love. #Faith #SpeakLife #Witness #CountingMyBlessings #WWGGG

A Prayer to Speak Out in Faith Without Fear

Lord, thank you for Your promise to be with us. (Matthew 28:20) Thank you for reminding me that there are many people who love and trust You. Please forgive me for too often listening to the louder voices. Forgive me for giving in to fear when Your Word repeatedly tells me “do not be afraid.”

You have been so good to me. You faithfully pour countless blessings over my life. You have given me a beautiful story to share. Your grace, mercy, and love surround me every day. You have pulled me out of the pit of despair (Psalm 42) and healed my broken heart (Psalm 147).

Please silence the voices of fear and give me everything I need to keep on speaking in faith. And by Your grace, please open my eyes to see Your faithful followers around me that we might encourage one another with Your love, with promises of hope, and with the courage that comes from You alone. In Your holy name, I pray. Amen.

Friend, we need to regularly remind ourselves and each other that we don’t have to be afraid or silent. We can and must speak out in faith without fear.

Because the truth is as Rev. Billy Graham once wrote…

“I’ve read the last page of the Bible, it’s all going to turn out all right.

The victory has been won!

In fact the Apostle Paul wrote to the people in Corinth:

Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

1 Corinthians 15:57–58

On today’s note write:

With God’s help, I will speak out in faith without fear.

God bless you today and give you everything you need to keep on telling people about His love.

  1. Wonderfully said. This is exactly how I’ve been feeling. Feeling isolated seeing all the chaos and deception. I said just yesterday it seems like evil is winning…I know it is not…seeing it in what feels like every corner and it’s sad. I know I am not alone and this post reaffirms to myself not to give up. Thanks Deb.

    All the best,
    Lily

    1. Thanks for visiting and for sharing your thoughts! I agree. I have to focus on Jesus and remind myself that He has already won the victory . . . as it can be so tempting to get discouraged and overwhelmed. Thanks again and God bless you!

  2. These were just the words I needed to read today, Deb. It seems as though the whole world is crumbling around us, but we must still speak God’s truth without fear. May He continue to give us the courage to do so.
    Blessings!

Sometimes I cannot read your emails the day they are sent but I always save everyone for a good time. Today God’s hand was at work through you. I have been feeling especially afraid for what I see and hear around me. Also, I have been sad and discouraged even though I know in my heart that God is always with us and controls everything.

Your message here has brought me around and reminded me to be brave and strong during these times and not to fear. Jesus overcame the world.

Thank you and God bless you, Deb.
