It's easy to fret about the gifts we're going to give but what if it were possible to give gifts that last forever? Gifts of encouragement and love. #Eternallove #Giftgiving #Faith Jesuslovesyou #Blessings

Have you finished your Christmas shopping? Is everything wrapped and ready?

I’ve shared with Rev that I knew writing through Revelation would be challenging. What I didn’t anticipate is that I would be writing about the times prior to Jesus’ second coming as we are preparing to remember and celebrate His first.

Most years, I write posts about Christmas joy and peace but this year I’m writing about growing persecution, wars and rumors of wars, the beast and its mark, and other end-times trials and tribulations. They’re hardly the Hallmark images we typically want at this time of the year.

But the following verse in today’s chapter made me think about Christmas and the gift we have in Jesus.

Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.”

Revelation 14:13

For those who Know, Love, and Trust the Lord . . . the love we share at Christmas or at any other time of the year remains with us for all eternity. Our acts of service, kindness, encouragement, and care glorify God and become a part of us.

Think about that for a minute – the sins we lay at the foot of the cross in repentance are removed and gone forever.

David wrote:

For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.

Psalm 103:11–12

The Lord removes our sins completely but makes the things we do out of love in faith gifts that last forever.

The things we do to shine the light of God’s love touch our lives and the lives of others eternally.

I can’t imagine a better Christmas gift . . . for them or for us.

May we remember, that it’s not about the presents we wrap and place under the tree but about the love of Jesus we share with one another. Those are the gifts that last forever.

Jesus said:

“Don’t store up treasures here on earth . . . store your treasures in heaven where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.”

Matthew 6:19a, 20

And…

“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!”

Matthew 25:40

A Prayer to Faithfully Give Gifts that Last Forever

Father, thank you! You have given us the best gift of all. You sent Jesus to save us from sin, death, and the power of satan. Because of Jesus, it is possible for our sins to be forgiven and removed completely. Because of Your unfailing love, we have the ability to love one another even when it’s hard.

Lord, I love you and I want to love others the way You want me to. Please help me. Help me show kindness, encouragement, and care. Help me touch lives with Your love. Make me patient and kind, humble and giving, forgiving, faithful, and hopeful. (1 Corinthians 13) Help me think beyond myself and what I want right now. Help me touch lives with gifts of love that last forever.

Thank you, Lord Jesus, thank you for saving me . . . for giving me the gift that lasts forever and always. Please give me an eternal perspective that stores up treasures in heaven. Help me live each day by Your grace and for Your glory. Amen.

This week we celebrate Jesus, the best gift ever!

We have been given the gift of His love, a love that makes it possible for us to love…

Compassionately. (Matthew 14:14)
Sacrificially. (John 15:13)
With humility, patience, kindness, and forgiveness. (Ephesians 4)
Even enemies. (Matthew 5:44)
Without favoritism or prejudice. (James 2:8–9)
Without expecting anything in return. (Luke 6:35)
Unconditionally. (Colossians 3:14)
Like Jesus. (John 13:34)

I’m praying that you have a wonderful time celebrating God’s love with the people you love this week. I’m asking the Lord to bless you with His peace and joy. And I’m asking Him to help you and your family generously give the gifts that last forever and always.

On today’s note write:

With God’s help, I want to love well and give gifts that last forever and always.

May God bless you as you celebrate His love that lasts forever and always.
