How God’s Love and Grace Can Make the Impossible Possible
I used to think that God’s love for me was determined by my behavior. That a better attitude and actions would result in God’s greater love and a better life.
Now, while it’s true that living in obedience may prevent some of life’s immediate negative consequences . . . it’s not true that God’s love is affected by our compliance.
His love is always and forever complete and perfect.
C. S. Lewis wrote:
“Though our feelings come and go, God’s love for us does not!”
God did not wait for people to obey before He sent Jesus. And that’s Good News because it would never have happened. We are not capable of loving and living perfectly on our own but Jesus died to save us . . . He made the impossible possible.
Look at what Paul wrote about God’s saving grace:
For we know how dearly God loves us because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.
Romans 5:5b–6
God is Triune—3 persons, 1 God; and all three persons of the Triune God love us and participate in our redemption.
The Father – loved us so much that He sent His one and only Son, Jesus. John 3:16
The Son, Jesus – gave Himself as the sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 2:2
The Holy Spirit – comes to teach us and fill our hearts with the truth about Jesus. John 14:26
We can’t save ourselves. It’s impossible.
But Jesus said:
“What is impossible for people is possible with God.”
Luke 18:27
Because of Jesus, God’s undeserved gift of love, we have been rescued from sin, death, and the power of the enemy’s evil domain.
And yet, one of the enemy’s favorite ways to tempt us is with “self” . . . self-righteousness, self-justification, and self-centeredness. He wants us to believe we can be good enough to save ourselves . . . that we don’t need Jesus.
The graciousness of God’s love—what’s impossible for you and me is possible with God.
When we know, trust, and love Jesus . . . God sees our sinful selfishness covered with Christ Jesus’ blood. He sees His Son in us. He sees LOVE!
He sees the impossible made possible by His grace.
A Prayer to Trust God’s Grace
to Make the Impossible Possible
Abba Father, everything for possible for You. (Mark 14:36) You are over all things. (1 Chronicles 29:11) You made all things. (Isaiah 44:24) You do all things. (Ecclesiastes 11:5) And all things are under Your authority. (1 Corinthians 15:28)
I can trust You because You are faithful . . . You always have been and You always will be. You are the God of miracles. You transform hearts, minds, and lives. You heal and deliver us. You are gracious and loving in all You do.
When doubt creeps in . . . may this be my prayer:
When I am in pain, I will trust in You. When my heart is broken, I will trust in You. When I’m discouraged and afraid, I will trust in You. When it all looks hopeless, I will trust in You. You are my place of safety . . . the One to whom I run when life is hard.
I know You make the impossible possible because You have done the impossible in me. And I believe You will continue to be with me and work within me in the future. Thanks and praise for Your forever grace and love. Amen.
However impossible your situation feels today . . . God Almighty is with you.
When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’
Genesis 17:1
God Almighty—the only One who is able to meet your every need today and always.
He may not change your circumstances but I promise, He is able to change your heart. He will give you everything you need to live in faith with hope . . . He will fill your heart with His love.
Through His Spirit, He makes the impossible possible.
May God bless you today with faith and hope and beautiful possibilities.
Hi Deb, I love acrostics! Your brief one ‘WWGGG’ reminded me of one well known one which I remembered modifying a while ago. ‘WWJD’ in my mind leaves choices too open for modern times & can easily mislead the ‘questioner!’ “Oh it’s only the once” or “It’s just a little bet” “maybe God won’t mind this time” & so it could continue with many examples. However, I shared this with my good friend Peter who was my Pastor at that time; Instead of ‘WWJD’ I inserted another letter so the ‘modified version’ reads; WWJND. ie; ‘What would Jesus not do.’ A firmer base to start from?
Thank you for your emailed messages, Blessings in Him, John.
I like that, John! Thank you so much for sharing it with us here. I loved the book, In His Steps. I think if everyone read that book and read their Bibles before pondering what Jesus would do, they would avoid some of the excuses they make. God be with you and bless you!
I am not receiving emails sadly since Wednesday, January 12, 2022! Please help!
I added your email to the subscription list, Jean. Hopefully, you will start receiving them again. Blessings!
