5 Wonderful Ways To Acknowledge God With Praise
Shout for joy! Come and worship!
I’ve always loved Psalm 100.
Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth!
Psalm 100:1–2
Worship the Lord with gladness.
Come before Him, singing with joy.
Those words just make me smile. Especially when I think about all the reasons I have to praise God with joy and gladness.
It’s easy to focus on what’s wrong, isn’t it? But the Psalmist tells us to acknowledge God for who He is and for all He does.
Acknowledge that the Lord is God!
Psalm 100:3
He made us, and we are His.
We are His people, the sheep of His pasture.
I looked up the meaning of the word “acknowledge” and found…
- To verbally recognize the authority of someone or something.
- To admit the truth and reality of someone or something.
That typically takes an explanation. When we acknowledge the authority, truth, and reality of someone or something we know the reasons . . . the facts and details that have brought us to a place of acknowledgment.
The Life Application Bible Notes say that we acknowledge God when we:
- Shout our praises.
Praise the Lord, the God of Israel, who lives from everlasting to everlasting! (1 Chronicles 16:36) - Appreciate God’s status as our Creator.
But the God of Israel is no idol! He is the Creator of everything that exists, including His people, His own special possession. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is His name! (Jeremiah 51:19) - Accept God’s authority in every detail of our lives.
All glory to Him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are His before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen. (Jude 1:25) - Enthusiastically agree with the guidance He gives.
I will bless the Lord who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me.
I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me. (Psalm 16:7–8) - Express our thanks for His unfailing love.
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His faithful love endures forever. (Psalm 136:1)
Why does the Psalmist tell us to acknowledge God with praise and thanksgiving?
Because He is worthy!
He is our Creator, Savior, and Counselor. He is our Shepherd who provides everything we need. He is our source of hope. And He is generous with His grace, mercy, and love.
So, pause today and acknowledge God with praise and thanksgiving. Praise Him for who He is and thank Him for all He does. Make a list of your blessings and sing a song of praise.
Then pray The 23rd Psalm…
The Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need.
Let’s go to the Lord…
A Prayer to Acknowledge God with Praise and Thanksgiving
Father God, You alone are worthy of all my praise. You are gracious and good, merciful and loving. You created our beautiful world. You could have made it in shades of gray but You made brilliant colors for us to enjoy. You made mountains and valleys, oceans and rivers, trees and flowers, and creatures great and small.
You made people to love You and each other because You love them so very much. You sent You Son, Jesus, to suffer our punishment and save us from sin, death, and the power of the enemy of our souls. And when we come to You in repentance through Him, You faithfully forgive us and promise us a forever future with You.
Father, I acknowledge that You are the sovereign Lord of my life. I agree that You are perfect in all Your ways and that Your will for me is always for my good. Please give me all that I need to trust and obey You each day.
Thank you for loving me. Please help me love the way You desire. Help me love like Jesus. Please guide me by the power of Your Word and Spirit and give me a heart that overflows with gratitude. In Jesus’ holy name, I pray. Amen.
I don’t know about you, but I can get lost in worldly weeds. I want to give my full attention to the Lord, my God, but more often than I’d like the junk shouts louder than His whispers calling me to the peace and purpose He wants for me.
I’ve discovered that the best way to have the proper perspective of the weeds is to worship the Lord. When I praise and thank God, when I acknowledge God for who He is and all He’s done, when I take the focus off me and turn toward Him . . . I’m able to live with His peace, joy, strength and so much more.
I want that! So, I’m going to plant these words in my heart…
Enter His gates with thanksgiving;
Psalm 100:4–5
go into His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him and praise His name.
For the Lord is good.
His unfailing love continues forever,
and His faithfulness continues to each generation.
I want to fill my life with beauty that flourishes by counting my blessings and praising the One who gives them.
May you be blessed as you pause to acknowledge God with praise.
We would love to pray for you.

Oh how I loved your post this morning! I loved how you talked about getting lost in worldly weeds and how junk shouts louder than God’s whispers calling us to the peace and purpose He wants for us! I so needed a reminder that I can fill my world with beauty that flourishes by “COUNTING MY BLESSINGS!” If I keep my mind, heart, soul and spirit focused on counting my blessings, it shall take me 24/7 the rest of my life, and leave no room for weeds and junk!
Proverbs 3:6 In ALL thy ways ACKNOWLEDGE HIM, and HE shall direct thy paths. Thank you, for brightening up my day! Blessings for all SON-SHINE in the gardens of all the hearts who gather here today! Love and hugs to my dear and special friends here, Sue and Ana and Martha! And to you, Deb, for bringing us all together! Precious blessings, I have started my counting with this morning!
Happy Monday morning, Kathy! I’m glad you were blessed and that I was able to add a little brightness to your day. Thank you so much for brightening by day with your kindness. Blessings and hugs, sweet friend! Have a beautiful day!!
I love these words of comfort and wisdom today. Keeping our focus on the Light and not the distractions of this world has to be our main priority. I admit that I am bad about getting caught up in “the weeds” and the loud shouts of junk! I pray that prayer every morning and evening asking God to help me keep my eyes on Him. It is so easy to get side tracked. I have wondered if it is my age in letting my mind wonder so much!! Your post helped me to realize I am not the only one who deals with this. Once again, I express so much gratitude for you and your insights. I am grateful for the friendships (Kathy, and the other folks who contribute so much to this blog) I have developed here. I pray God’s blessings on you and Rev, Your family and your sweet pet.
Hugs to you my sweet, wise friend.
You are definitely not the only one, Sue. The enemy works so hard to keep us distracted and anxious. It’s a daily struggle but by His grace and with His help we can pray, praise, and give thanks. And when we do, I believe He will give us His peace. As I’m typing these words, I realize it’s a reminder I needed today. Thank you, my friend. Your words always bless and encourage me. Thank you so much for your kindness and prayers. Blessings and hugs!
God bless you Sue! And you are not the only one who deals with the weeds and junk! I think how one tiny sprig of old crabgrass can take over the whole lawn, which is the way I feel sometimes! Last week, my place was crawling with workers and my hubby was down with a flare up of sciatica! When one of them walked thru my flower bed, I had to clamp and lock my mouth! I was so thankful to hear the whispers of God, other wise that worker would have gotten a tongue lashing! P.S. My mind wanders a lot too, these days! But thankfully God knows our hearts and our ages! Bless you dear friend and pray you are having a wonderful day! Lov and hugs
Hi Kathy,
Indeed God has blessed me abundantly with your friendship. I read your reply and understand your need to zip your lips when your flowers are being trampled on. Bless you! I feel the same so much in my life and on almost a daily basis!! I hope that the workers got all of their work done and you have had a peaceful week so far, and that your husband is feeling much better. God is so good to all of us and staying focused on “the light of the son” can be a challenge at times. I seem to have a hard time staying focused, period!!
I always love the replies you send to Deb and to me. I am so thankful for you and also for the fact that you are so diligent in acknowledging the friends we have on this website. We all seem to have our trials and it is so wonderful that Deb has brought us together through this wonderful site.
I am praying God’s blessings on you and yours and I hope that you are staying cool in all of this August heat. Yesterday it was way up in the 90’s here. We are expecting temps to go up in the three digits before the week is over. Phew!!! Hot!
God bless you, my dear friend! Love hugs to you!
Amén Deb! We need to be joyful and praise God daily knowing he is always with us even when times get tough. I as well get caught up in the worldly weeds and junk loud shouts of junk. As long as I continue to glorify him and ask him to give wisdom, patience, and acknowledge knowing he does not forsake me. He will steer me into his path leading me in the right direction to be his will. God has brought all of us together thanks to you Deb for all of your beautiful prayers and words of encouragement you give us. Have a wonderful blessed day to all.
Amen, Ana! I am so thankful for the community of believers . . . especially for the little community God has brought together in this space. Thank you for your kindness and for blessing me with encouragement. God be with you!
Thank you so much Deb for your faithfulness to this blog. I look forward every Mon, wed, Fri. and have so a few years to Your encouragement and wisdom.
We all need that encouragement to stay so ever close to our
Lord Jesus Christ!
I want to encourage you today,
you are a true blessing to us.
I’m am thankful to God that He has put this ministry on your hart.
May the Lord bless you and keep you and may His face shine upon you and give you great great peace!
I truly appreciate your kind encouragement, Lori. I am so thankful to be able to do this and thankful for all of you who visit and faithfully encourage me. You are a blessing to me! May God be with you and bless you!
Deb, I appreciate your mention of shouting our praises in acknowledgement of who God is and what he does for us. The Bible tells us a number of times to shout to the Lord, and it’s surely for good reason. There’s something powerful about a shout, especially when it’s a large group participating. Every now and then at church our unison-readings lend themselves to raising our voices a bit, and I feel that power, strengthening my faith and augmenting my joy!
I love that, Nancy! It made me think of the many churches that repeat “He is Risen. He is Risen indeed.” with shouts of praise and thankfulness. May we boldly proclaim that He is worthy of our praise forever and always. Thanks so much for visiting and for joining the conversation. God’s blessings!
