Yes, You Can Live Life To The Fullest Now
Do you live life to the fullest? Have you ever thought about it?
I have. Why, you might ask?
Because there were times when Rev and I were thought to have been missing out on full life living.
I’ll bet you’d love to know why.
We thought it might be because we were content just being … we didn’t need to be going and doing to be happy.
We weren’t party-ers. We didn’t have to try the latest restaurant. We didn’t worry about our next vacation, missed almost all new movie releases, and didn’t think much about the latest trends.
Sounds boring, doesn’t it?
But I’ve often wondered…
What makes people think that “living life to the fullest” means going lots of places, spending lots of money, buying lots of stuff, and knowing the latest gossip?
My favorite definition of full life living is: To pursue a positive, satisfying, and enjoyable existence.
So, let me ask…
What do you need to have a positive, satisfying, and enjoyable existence?
A question that may help us to answer that…
What would I do differently if I knew I only had six months to a year to live?
Pursuing life in light of eternity changes our perspective. It changes our wants, our needs, and our passions.
If I knew this was my last year of life:
- I would not feel the need to acquire more stuff.
- I would not eat more dinners out or travel to exotic places.
- I would not watch more television or go to more movies.
But…
- I would spend more time with the people I love.
- I would spend more time in the Word and in prayer.
- I would watch more sunrises and sunsets.
- I would take more walks and do more star-gazing.
- And I’d praise God for every moment.
That’s what I would do. Your choices might look very different from mine and that’s okay!
Because…
Your full life living can only be defined by you.
You have been uniquely and wonderfully made by a loving God, who made you for His plans and purposes. He created you perfectly for your life, not for anyone else’s.
So, don’t let someone else define what living life to the fullest means for you.
Jesus said…
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
John 10:10
What if the only way to have a truly positive, satisfying, and enjoyable existence is to surrender our lives to the One who created us and gave His life to save us?
When you and I have the Holy Spirit with and within us through faith in Christ Jesus, we can enjoy the “fruit” found only in Him…
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Galatians 5:22–23
And I don’t know about you but I think living with “love, joy, peace, etc.” is the best definition of living life to the fullest.
Let’s pray…
A Prayer for God’s Grace to Live Life to the Fullest
Father, thank you for giving me the gift of life. I want to use my life in the best way possible. I want to glorify You and care for the beautiful world You created. I want to live fully TRUSTing Your will and OBEYing Your commands.
I want to live with gratitude for all You have done and continue to do for me.
Please forgive me for listening to the world’s definition of “full-life” living. The world defines success through power, popularity, and possessions. But Your Word says that fullness of life is found in You. I love You, Lord, and want to LOVE and TRUST You fully.
Because You are gracious and merciful, You give me everything I need to accomplish the plans and purposes You have prepared for me. You give me Jesus and faith, hope, joy, and peace that goes beyond understanding. You fill my life with love allowing the blessing of contentment through relationships.
I thank and praise You. Thank you for helping me know what living life to the fullest means for me. I pray that many will turn to You in faith and experience the life You want for them. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
It takes wisdom to live to the fullest.
Solomon, the king to whom God gave the gift of wisdom, wrote Proverbs and Ecclesiastes to provide instructions for life. He wrote the following…
My child, listen to what I say,
Proverbs 2:1–2, 9–11
and treasure my commands.
Tune your ears to wisdom,
and concentrate on understanding.
Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair,
and you will find the right way to go.
For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will fill you with joy.
Wise choices will watch over you.
Understanding will keep you safe.
I’ve realized that to live life to the fullest, I need to SEEK, KNOW, TRUST, and LOVE the Lord and ask Him to give me wisdom.
Because the One who gives life knows the best way for us to live life to the fullest.
We would love to pray for you.

Absolutely, Deb! Only in knowing, seeking and trusting God can each of us live our lives to the fullest. Blessings!
Thanks, dear friend! What a blessing it is to enjoy and find our fullness, peace, and joy in Jesus. Hugs!!
Beautiful understanding, thank you for the encouragement 🫂❤️✌️
Thank you, Carla! I appreciate for your visit and words of encouragement. Blessings!
Oh my goodness, Deb! It is like you took the thoughts right out of my heart and put them to paper! Our living life to the fullest is so in sync! Although this spring, summer, and now into fall, I have not lived my life to the fullest! I have let myself get stuck in the mud of weariness, anxiety, and impatience, as we have been going through all these home improvements. I haven’t let myself have even one vacation day all this time! But like you, I do not need an expensive vacation to an exotic place…my best vacation is spending the whole day with God! Praising Him, thanking Him, singing and rejoicing in Him! Today, I am going to live my life to the fullest and let all this mess and stress and noise fall away! I am going to spend the day with my Holy Father, soaking up His love, joy, presence and peace!! Thank you sooo much for this post today! I so needed it!!
And I have prayed for you and so hope that God blessed you, as you celebrated your first birthday without your beloved Rev. I know how difficult all those “first” can be…and my heart will be with you for every “first” you go through. But I know, knowing you, that you will find joy in remembrance and will continue to live your life to the fullest…with our Father God, whom you love so much and serve so faithfully! Sweet love and lots of hugs to you today and everyday, my dear friend and teacher!
Thank you so much for your precious prayers, Kathy! It’s been an emotional week. On top of our birthdays, I had a big decision to make. Praise God! He helped me and gave me great peace and joy. What a great God we are blessed to know and love. I’m praying that you are able to find that sweet calm in life again soon. You are such a sweet friend. God be with you and bless you!
My faith journey has been a walk I didn’t expect nor could I have envisioned. Growing up in a Catholic home was my 1st introduction to God, but I didn’t understand anything in the Old Testament…and all I knew about the New was Jesus. I believed but I didn’t have a relationship with Him. I made a lot of mistakes in my adult life, and believed the lies I was no longer worthy to be part of His Kingdom, I felt empty. Until I heard Him say “come as you are”. That was a game changer. As I continue to walk and learn with Him, there is fullness in my life and in my heart. I don’t ever want to live empty again.
What a beautiful testimony of God’s love, JoAnne. I will hold those words close to my heart. “Come as you are!” So often we believe we have to get it right first when He wants us to come to Him so He can heal our hearts and make us right in Jesus. Thanks so much for visiting and your encouraging words. God bless you!
Deb,
This is a wonderful post and reminder to remember that life is really about simple things and not material things. It is about the faithful love of the Lord and His compassion, and the love of family and friends. I love the simple things in life. Listening to the birds sing and watching sunsets and sunrises. Seeing the sweetness and innocence of a baby. Keeping true to promises made, and appreciating being remembered!!
Life is not about material things to keep us happy. The “right” relationship with Jesus does.
Jesus makes me want to sing in praise for all He has done for me.
I hope that you have a wonderful day and weekend. Hugs!
Thanks, Sue! It takes time to learn the precious value of our relationships. I think that’s one of the reasons God tells us the importance of loving Him and others. He knows those relationships are the only things that have eternal value. Blessings and hugs, sweet friend!
I am poor. But that doesn’t worry me. I try to give generously to those who have cancer. My non profit earns funds to go to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston.
That’s beautiful, Theresa! God be with you and bless you!
