Need Encouragement? Verses & Prayers to Give You Hope Now

Raise your hand if you need encouragement!
If you’re feeling discouraged? If you wake up wanting to pull the covers over your head and stay in bed.
The dictionary defines being discouraged as “lacking in courage, hope, or confidence.”
I’m prone to discouragement when I’m stuck in a situation that appears unending. Ongoing pain, physical or emotional, leads to worry that drains my hope and courage tank almost every time.
Thankfully, I’ve learned that the most beneficial thing I can do when I need encouragement is go to God through His Word and prayer.

So, I’m praying some of my favorite verses and asking God to fill each of us with the hope and courage we need as we place our confidence in Him…
Prayers to Bless When You Need Encouragement
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:28 (NIV)
Father God, thank you so very much for allowing me to KNOW, LOVE, and TRUST You. All I am and have is by Your grace alone.
On difficult days, like today, please help me remember that in all circumstances, You are faithfully working for good in my life. Please give me the patience I need to endure. Fill me with hope for the future and give me the strength I need today.
Your grace in every undeserved blessing is sufficient for whatever the enemy puts before me. I thank and praise You with all my heart. Please help me focus on You, so that I might accomplish Your purposes. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
God is our refuge and strength,
Psalm 46:1
always ready to help in times of trouble.
Lord God, You are my refuge and strength. What an awesome blessing it is to know that I can run to You whenever trouble surrounds me. In addition to that blessing, you’re not just a kind, empathetic ear; You are my Lord and Savior, ready to help me face the day, addressing its challenges.
By Your saving grace through the power of Your Spirit, I am blessed with the quiet confidence that even if the world were to end … I am safely Yours forever and always. Lord, that puts every other problem in perspective. You guard my soul and give me strength. I thank and praise You now and always. Amen.
And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.
Romans 5:5
Heavenly Father, on my own, I’m a mess. I fail every day. And the enemy of my soul loves to remind me of every failure. He works relentlessly to discourage and defeat my attempt to glorify and honor You with all I think, say, and do.
Please forgive me, and fill me to overflowing with Your love through the Spirit’s presence. He is such a gracious gift in my life. I am deeply thankful for His guidance and prayers. I thank You that with His help, I can shine the light of Your love through expressions of joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, thankfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
That truth helps me live with a hope that encourages me. Thank you! Amen.

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Isaiah 41:10
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
Oh Lord, I need to hold these words in my heart every moment of every day. I want live as if I KNOW that You will never leave or forsake me. That, as David said, You know everything about me. Wherever I go, You are there. And Your thoughts about me are precious, caring, and compassionate.
You are God, and because You don’t want me to be discouraged, You promise that I can live in victory because Jesus has defeated the enemy of my soul.
I give You all my fears and discouragement. I give You my heart and soul. I give You all my love, Lord of my life. Amen.
Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
Ephesians 3:20
Father, when I can’t, You can. You are all-powerful and always at work around and within me. Nothing is too great for You to accomplish, and nothing is too small for You to care.
When I need encouragement, I can come to You with confidence, not because of who I am but because of who You are. You are Lord God Almighty, the One who is, was, and is to come.
You are the source of my courage and strength. You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. You are my hope for the future. I give myself to You in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.
