Pray When You Need To Be Assured of God’s Love
Do you ever have days when you don’t feel very lovable?
Your mood/attitude is off. You know you failed to honor God’s will. And you’re so upset and discouraged that you’re questioning God’s love?
Whenever I would have one of those days, I’d say, “I don’t feel very cute and lovable today.”
And Rev always replied, “I’ll bet you do. Come over here … I’ll show you.” Then he’d wrap me in his arms, give me a big hug, and say, “See, I told you so!”
That man could always make me smile.
“I don’t feel lovable days” can be hard. They’re part of being citizens in a sinful world that’s leaving painful imprints on our hearts. Sin hurts.
Even before God banished Adam and Eve from the Garden, their sin caused them to feel unlovable and doubt God’s love.
When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man and his wife heard the Lord God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the Lord God among the trees.
Genesis 3:8
But God…
(Don’t you love those two words?)
But God showed them how very much He loved them by promising a Savior. Yes, He also gave them consequences but He never stopped loving them. He never has and He never will.
His love is unfailing and faithful. When Moses asked to “see” God, the Lord said the following as He passed by…
The Lord passed in front of Moses, calling out,
Exodus 34:6–7a
“Yahweh! The Lord!
The God of compassion and mercy!
I am slow to anger
and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.
I lavish unfailing love to a thousand generations.
I forgive iniquity, rebellion, and sin.
So, let’s pray to be blessed with the assurance of God’s love every day even on our “I don’t feel loveable” ones.
5 Verses and Prayers To Be Assured of God’s Love
For the Lord your God is living among you.
Zephaniah 3:17
He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With His love, He will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”
Father, I love this verse. It’s easy to think of You sitting on Your throne far away in some heavenly realm. But the truth is … You fill the universe with Your presence. There is no limit to who You are or what You can do.
You lovingly watch over us guiding us along the best path for our lives. Your Spirit reminds us of Your love and promises defeating the enemy’s lies and calming our fears. You sent Jesus, gave us faith, and made us Your children, and tell us that it gave You joy to do so.
Your grace, mercy, and love overwhelm me. I praise You! Amen.
No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:39
Father, Your Spirit inspired Paul to write these overwhelming words. Your love is so great and unfailing that nothing in all creation can take that love from us. The only thing that can separate us from You and Your love is our denial and rejection.
I sin and fail to follow Your will and still You love me. I get distracted and worry unnecessarily and You continue to love me. The enemy lies, I doubt, and You assure me of Your love.
Your grace is sufficient. I love You, Lord, and give myself to You. Amen.
My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Galatians 2:20
Lord, You said that there is no greater love than to lay down your life for your friends. (John 15:13) And You didn’t just tell us … You showed us. You revealed the Father’s love for us by willingly sacrificing everything.
Thank you for loving me and paying the penalty for my sin. Thank you for sending Your Spirit to teach me and remind me of my great need for forgiveness and Your sacrifice. Thank you for helping me when I am weak and for speaking to the Father on my behalf.
You are my Lord and Savior. You are everything I need. Amen.
Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go, for to You I entrust my life.
Psalm 143:8 (NIV)
Father, I surrender my all to You. As I begin each day please remind me of Your unfailing love. Help me carry Your promises in my heart throughout the hours and moments ahead.
You have said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6) And Jesus said, “I am with you always to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)
People fail. People leave. People reject. You never do and You never will. You have proven Yourself trustworthy. So, I ask You to guide me along the path You have prepared and give me everything I need to trust and obey. For yes, I entrust my life to You. Amen.
Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth!
Psalm 100:1–2,5
Worship the Lord with gladness.
Come before Him, singing with joy.
For the Lord is good.
His unfailing love continues forever,
and His faithfulness continues to each generation.
Lord, I praise You! I proclaim You with joy! I worship You here and can only imagine what it will be like when I worship You in glory. I want everyone in the world to KNOW, LOVE, and TRUST You.
Lord, You are good. You are faithful. And Your unfailing love fills creation and lasts forever. Each generation is blessed by Your generous grace, compassionate mercy, and unfailing love.
You are Lord of all. You are my Lord and Savior. I love You. Amen.
Max Lucado wrote…
“God loves you simply because He has chosen to do so. He loves you when you don’t feel lovely. He loves you when no one else loves you. Others may abandon you, divorce you, and ignore you, but God will love you always. No matter what!”
Let His love wash over you today and be assured that He will never fail you. His unfailing love lasts forever.
We would love to pray for you.

Thank you, Deb, for reminding us all that we don’t have to feel lovable to be loved by God. There are so many days and ways that I struggle with this in my heart. I need to simply let go and let God.
Blessings!
Me too, Martha! I believe the enemy loves making us doubt our worth and God’s love. I am so thankful that we can be sure of our Father’s love even when we don’t feel lovable. Blessings!
I am so very grateful for God’s love and forgiveness. I am so grateful I can ALWAYS count on HIM. Romans 8:39 has been my verse I have held onto for so long. The reminder that nothing can separate me from the love God has for me. This post stirred my heart and soul. Thank you!!
I’ve missed you, sweet friend! I hope you are doing well. I agree. I thank God that He is faithful to His promises and that we can count on Him every moment of every day. Thanks as always for your kind encouragement. Blessings and hugs!
Thank you Deb! I have missed you too and commenting. I do hope that you are doing well.
Blessings and hugs to you my friend.
Thank you! This touched my heart so completely. I have been feeling this way for a few weeks now. I feel it off and on for as long as I can remember. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone put it quite like this. I do know that God loves me just as I am, faults and all. He is my comforter, defender and protector. He is my anchor when life’s storms and lately there’s been many. I cling to Him when life seems to knock me around and drag me to my knees. I guess that’s where He needs me to be, on my knees. Again, thank you and God Bless you and your ministry.
Oh, thank you, Donna. I’m so glad you were blessed and encouraged. I appreciate your visit and your kindness. God be with you and bless you!
