Seriously, it’s that good for you!

Here are just some of them…

10 Guaranteed Ways Being Grateful is Good for You

♥ Being grateful makes people happier.

You and I choose whether we’ll be thankful or unappreciative. I know which one will tank my mood in a heartbeat. Being grateful blesses both the giver and the recipient.

“Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn, or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.” ~Denis Waitley

♥ Being grateful improves our relationships.

Everyone prefers the company of happy, grateful people. Think about it. Who would you rather spend your time with… someone who’s happy and thankful or someone who’s a grumpy complainer?

Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

♥ Being grateful can help you succeed at work.

People work harder if their efforts are appreciated, and bosses are more likely to encourage employees who acknowledge their leadership positively…

Whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

Colossians 3:17

♥ Being grateful helps us live with optimism and hope.

Grateful people have a better attitude about the future. They enjoy and appreciate what they have and worry less about the future. They try to view life through an optimistic filter.

“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” — William Arthur Ward

♥ Being grateful will increase your empathy and willingness to help.

People who are thankful for what they have are more likely to notice those less fortunate and more inclined to offer help.

“Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude. Gratitude is the completion of thankfulness. Thankfulness may consist merely of words. Gratitude is shown in acts.” –Henri Frederic Amiel

♥ Being grateful initiates contentment.

When you are thankful for what you have, you are less concerned about what you don’t have.

“Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity…it makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” ~Melody Beattie

♥ Being grateful can help us become more resilient.

Grateful people get over setbacks and disappointments more quickly than those who are unappreciative.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all he has done.

Philippians 4:6

♥ Being grateful helps us manage stress and anxiety.

Thankful people worry less. Celebrating what is going well in life helps them worry less about the things that could potentially go wrong.

Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:7

♥ Being grateful can help us forgive more quickly.

Thankful people celebrate God’s gift of forgiveness. They let go of the past and learn from it. And they forgive others more easily, trusting God to give them the strength to move on.

Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

Ephesians 4:32

♥ Being grateful makes every day better.

Thankful people smile more. Enough said!

Enter His gates with thanksgiving;
go into His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him and praise His name.
For the Lord is good.
    His unfailing love continues forever,
and His faithfulness continues to each generation.

Let’s pray…

A Prayer for a Heart that is
Consistently Being Grateful

Heavenly Father, You are so gracious and good. Where do I begin? You created a perfect world for us, and we have done and do so many things that mar its beauty. We are sinful, prideful, and selfish; even so, You sent Jesus to set us free from sin, death, and satan’s power.

You lovingly watch over and provide for us every day. You gave us Your Word and Spirit so that we can know and love You. You give us people to love, shelter to protect, and food to feed us.

We have so much to be thankful for. I have so much to be thankful for. Please forgive me for the days I’m ungrateful and self-absorbed. Help me remember Your countless blessings. Help me show Your love with an attitude of gratitude, blessing the people around me with words of encouragement.

Thank you for Your many blessings. Please bless us with grateful hearts. Amen.
