The Best News Ever is the Truth About God’s Grace

Are you ready for the best news ever?
We’ve spent the last few days addressing God’s Laws and our failure. Today, we will sit with Paul and let his words wash over us with the Gospel Truth about God’s grace.
Now God has shown us a way to be made right with Him without keeping the requirements of the law … We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.
Romans 3:21–22
Let those words sink in … “no matter who we are.”
The color of our skin doesn’t matter. The texture of our hair is unimportant. The level of our degrees and the names of the schools on them are irrelevant. Where we live, how we make our living, how short or tall … none of that matters when it comes to our relationship with God.
Because…
Everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
Romans 3:23
Nothing we are, do, or have can repair our broken relationship with God.
It all comes down to the best news ever…
God’s grace!
God, in His grace, freely makes us right in His sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins.
Romans 3:24
Do you feel like you don’t fit in?
Jesus said, “You didn’t choose me. I chose you.” (John 15:16)
Do you feel afraid?
Jesus said, “Don’t be afraid; you are valuable to God” (Matthew 10:31)
Do you feel lost?
Jesus says, “Follow me. I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” (John 14:6)
Do you feel abandoned and rejected?
Jesus said, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20
Do you feel like you can never be good enough?
Jesus said, “God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for Him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.” (Matthew 5:3)
We are forgiven and set free by God’s grace through Jesus.
Yes, God is righteous. He wants us to trust and obey His commands, but no matter how hard we try … we sin.
But God…
God did this to demonstrate His righteousness, for He Himself is fair and just, and He makes sinners right in His sight when they believe in Jesus.
Romans 3:26b
So, the best news ever is that God gives what we do not deserve because He is pure, perfect love. And because He is love, He sent Jesus to provide a way for us to spend forever in His loving presence.
By grace, God makes sinners righteous when they put their faith in Jesus.
This quote from Jerry Bridges sums it up well…
“Your worst days are never so bad that you are beyond the reach of God’s grace. And your best days are never so good that you are beyond the need of God’s grace.”
May we repent of our sinfulness, trust Jesus, and ask God to help us live for Him.
Let’s pray…
A Prayer of Praise for the Best News Ever
God’s Grace and Love
Father God, I don’t know where to begin. Your loving grace is the best news ever. Because You are LOVE, and everything You do is loving, caring, and compassionate. You graciously gave Your only Son, Jesus, to suffer the punishment we deserve.
Please forgive me for foolishly being prideful, thinking that I could ever obey You as You desire. I know I sin by failing to do the things You want. I try to obey Your Commandments, but when I add Jesus’ words about sinful thinking, I know I fail. I am so sorry.
I am so thankful that because You are gracious, I don’t have to live in fear. When I follow Jesus, I am never lost and never alone. Your Spirit is with me, encouraging me with Your promises and eternal hope.
I praise You, Father. Your grace is sufficient for all my needs, and that is the best news ever. In Jesus’ name, I pray with a thankful heart. Amen.
Got Questions shares the following…
“We can all extend grace to others, but when the word grace is used in connection with God, it takes on a more powerful meaning. Grace is God choosing to bless us rather than curse us as our sin deserves. It is His benevolence to the undeserving.”
God’s grace can be summed up in these words from Paul to the Ephesians…
God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:8-10
