Do you struggle with restlessness? Are you anxious about the circumstances in your life and the world around you? It's time to run to the One who calms us. #Innerpeace #Restlessness #Anxiety #Faith #Blessings #WWGGG

I have terribly dry and itchy skin.

It is always worse during the cold dry winter months. I feel like I spend half my waking hours rubbing and scratching my irritated exterior.

The bottom line for this dry-skinned itchiness is that I am always on the lookout for the perfect salve to soothe and calm my sensitive exterior and restlessness . . . a lotion or potion that not only hydrates but also provides lasting relief.

The thing is, it’s not just my exterior . . . I struggle with restlessness on the inside too. Overactive thoughts leave me agitated and fidgety. Doesn’t that make you want to sit down and spend a relaxing afternoon with me?

Do you struggle with restlessness? Are you easily agitated and anxious?

As I look around it often seems like there are many of us looking for something to calm our thoughts and soothe our souls. But nothing this world has to offer will ever eliminate restlessness and give us the contentment and calm we desire.

That’s the reason, I’m pausing today and running to the only One who is able to heal my agitation, and give me peace that lasts.

I’m running to Jesus!

Because He is…

The Promised Onethe Messiah who gave Himself to save us.

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

But He was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins.
He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed.

Isaiah 9:6 & Isaiah 53:5

The One who defeated the enemy of our souls.

“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33

The One who gives peace to anyone who places their trust in Him.

You will keep in perfect peace
    all who trust in you,
all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

Isaiah 26:3

The One who calms our storms and soothes our souls.

Jesus said, “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Matthew 11:28–30 (MSG)

The One who gives us lasting HOPE.

What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole.

Will you pray with me?

A Prayer Asking Jesus to Calm Our Restlessness

Lord Jesus, You are the Word made flesh. (John 1:14) Thank you. You experienced this sinful world and the struggles that cause our restlessness; yet, You remained perfectly connected to the Father and showed us a better way. You gave everything for us to give everything to us . . . everything that truly matters.

Please forgive me for the times I take my eyes off You and allow my struggles to cause anxiety and agitation. I know that when I focus on You and rest on Your promises I am filled with peace. When Your Spirit whispers, “I am with you. Just trust me,” I am able to let go of thoughts that upset me.

Lord, You are my Deliverer (Romans 11:26), the Great “I AM” (John 8:58), the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6), my Advocate (1 John 2:1), the Resurrection and Life (John 11:25), and the Author and Perfecter of my faith (Hebrews 12:2)

By Your grace and with Your help, I will release my restlessness so that might rest in You. I will turn my heart and mind toward You that I might experience the peace that passes understanding (Philippians 4:7). I will remember that Your grace is greater than my current circumstances (2 Corinthians 12:9). And I will rejoice and count on Your promises to return and take me to the home in heaven that is being prepared for me.

I worship and praise You. Thank you for being everything I need to calm my restlessness. Amen.

So friend, are you: Worried? Agitated? Guilt-ridden? Sad? Restless?

Do you need: Hope? Joy? Peace? Comfort?

Jesus is offering us perfect peace in Him.

Yes, I’m known to give in to anxiety and agitation. That’s why I’ve made Psalm 73:25–26 my life verses.

Whom have I in heaven but you?
I desire you more than anything on earth.
My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak,
    but God remains the strength of my heart;
    He is mine forever.

The Lord, my Savior, is the strength of my restless heart. He is mine forever.

I’m praying that He will be your strength and peace too.

May He calm your restlessness today and give you His perfect peace.

We would love to pray for you.

You described me, Deb, talking about itching! My skin has become so sensitive over the years, and it drives me crazy at times! Just like life can drive us a bit crazy too! The two together can make a miserable day! I too, look for a soothing balm for my skin and turn to God for the soothing of my heart and soul and spirit! Psalm 72:26
“God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

    1. I’m sorry, Kathy! It is miserable. Praying for relief for the itchiness and praising God for the blessing of strength! Hugs!

  3. Jesus is my source for peace, hope, joy and love. Without Him, I know I would be a pathetically lost soul.
    Blessings, Deb!

    1. Me too, Martha! So thankful to be able to rest on His promises. Blessings and hugs!

  4. I LOVE that Psalm Deb!!!! Oh my, if I could repeat it with an honest heart, meaning what I’m saying ????????????. As Corrie Ten Boom said, I still have to graduate of the No Worrying then take an undergrad course ????
Yes, I’m quite familiar with anxiety, with grabbing the wheel back from God as I think I know better what I need. I’m well versed in a life in chaos because I can’t find the right direction or answer to a problem. Impatience and I are twins…. When trouble comes, my first reaction is to run the opposite direction, instead of facing it courageously relying on Jesus. Should I keep going on?
My biggest quest is to find and understand how can I get that UNSHAKABLE Trust in God the Father and Jesus that I read about in the Scriptures and hearing about in the sermons??? While I’m a sucker trusting people then get hurt, I have a Jericho time with Trusting the Lord. And I have no idea why…. I want to, desire to. I have no reason not to, after all through my entire life He showed me His love and faithfulness….so what’s wrong with me???
Your message is most assuredly require some thinking. Lot’s of blessings and hope Rev is doing okay. ????????

    1. Oh, Gaby, I feel your struggle. I spent so much of my life afraid that if x, y, or z happened I wouldn’t be able to survive. Then we lived through a horrible few years and as we ran to the Lord, He gave us the strength we needed. So now, I make it my goal to run to Him every single morning and rest in His Word and spend time with Him in prayer. And then, I run to Him throughout the day every time the enemy tempts me with fearful thoughts. I’m still a work in progress but with God’s help, I’m enjoying more peace than I used to have. Thanks for asking about Rev. We’re taking things one day at a time celebrating every good day where we can enjoy each other’s conversation and company. Blessings!

      1. It’s such an encouragement to share our struggles, to learn from each other’s journey ❤️????. Lot’s of blessings on both of you

  5. Athanasius says:
