Are you restless? Is it time to change your life for the better? Here's a list of 5 things you can do to determine what needs to change and what you need to do to make them happen.

School starts soon in our area and I’ve always believed that these last days of summer break are the perfect time to do a life assessment and determine if some self-improvement changes need to be made.

If you need to change your life, improve your routine, get more organized, and enjoy more peace … this is for you!

5 Simple Ways to Change Your Life for the Better

1. Repeat as often as necessary … I am not helpless!

I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.  Philippians 4:13

With God’s help, You and I can take the steps needed to make life-improving changes that last. We are not helpless. The One for whom all things are possible promises to give us the strength we need.

2. Pray for Godly wisdom and direction to change your life.

Prayerfully ask God to help you see the changes He wants you to make and guide you according to His will.

The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.
Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.

Psalm 37:23–24

3. Take that wisdom and direction and list the changes you want to make…

  • At work.
  • At home.
  • With diet and exercise.
  • With clutter and organization.
  • With your schedule.
  • To improve your relationships.

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Romans 12:2

4. But before making those changes consider your attitude.

You don’t have to make drastic changes. Sometimes our best changes begin with an attitude adjustment.

Start encouraging your boss, spouse, children, friends, and neighbors. Treat them the way you want them to treat you. It may surprise you how much you start to enjoy each of them more if you have a more positive attitude followed by positive words and actions.

Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Philippians 4:8

5. Celebrate every small success and praise God!

Make a list of the things you love about your life. Start making the changes that need to be made and celebrate every small step along the way.

The Lord is close to all who call on Him, yes, to all who call on Him in truth.
He grants the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cries for help and rescues them.

Psalm 145:18–19

Let’s Pray…

A Prayer for God’s Help
to Change Your Life for the Better

Father God, I’ve been stuck in a rut of habits and routines that are less than You want for me. I feel unsettled and uncertain. I know I need to make some changes but I need Your help to know where to begin.

Thank you for reminding me that with Your Spirit’s help, I am not helpless. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength … even make the difficult changes You want for me.

Please guide me with Your wisdom. Fill me with Your Spirit and speak to my heart through Your Word. Forgive me for doing all the talking when I pray, Lord. Please help me be still, hear Your voice, and follow where You lead.

Father, I want my attitude to please You. Show me where I need to adjust my heart, mind, words, and actions to shine the light of Your love and bless the people around me. Your Word says You want me to have an attitude like Jesus. (Philippians 2:5) I can’t do that on my own. Please help me.

I know Your ways are best. I believe You will give me what I need to make the changes You desire. Open the eyes of my heart, Lord. I want to experience the peace and joy of walking the path You have prepared for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Are you restless? Is it time to change your life for the better? Here's a list of 5 things you can do to determine what needs to change and what you need to do to make them happen.

If you and I are serious about changing our lives for the better we have to begin with 2 goals:

  1. To SEEK, KNOW, LOVE, TRUST, and OBEY the Lord.
  2. To love like Jesus.

When we make those things our greatest priority, God promises to show us the best path for our lives and to help us as we walk in faith along that path.

So, here are a couple of encouraging quotes…

“Nothing paralyzes our lives like the attitude that things can never change. We need to remind ourselves that God can change things. Outlook determines outcome. If we see only the problems, we will be defeated; but if we see the possibilities in the problems, we can have victory.” ~ Warren Wiersbe

“When we change our minds, seeking the truth and the love of God, and change our patterns, so that our lives and relationships are purpose-driven and God-centered, we can experience the pleasure and satisfaction that accompanies covenant love built God’s way.” ~ Chrystal Armstrong

May the Lord bless you as you look to Him in faith and change your life for the better.

We would love to pray for you.

I so needed this encouraging and instructive post today. All of life has been a whirlwind for a while now and I feel depleted physically and spiritually. I so loved your prayer (as always) and plan on printing it out to pray often. Thank you for somehow knowing what my hearts needs to hear, so that it can beat again for my Lord and Savior, instead of all the busy clutter and trappings of the enemy.
Bless you my wonderful friend, for these few quiet moments spending time with you. I so need grounding and grooming inside and out. I do read all your beautiful posts and have missed my quiet time to comment and converse with you and all the beautiful souls who gather here. Sweet prayers and love to all.
