The Important Reason You Want to Come and Talk with God Every Day

Think about it, the God of the Universe invites us to come and talk with Him, to share our concerns, talk about our needs, and receive a wonderful blessing. #Prayer #TrustGod #Faith #Blessings

So let me ask . . . how are you?

If you had to pick a word or two to describe your week, what would it be?

Would you describe your days as…

  • Challenging?
  • Blessed?
  • Frustrating?
  • Overwhelming?
  • Ideal?
  • Exhausting?

However you answered, the Lord invites you and me to bring our highs and lows to Him.

David wrote:

My heart has heard You say, “Come and talk with Me.”

Psalm 27:8a

Think about that for a moment. The God of the universe invites you and me to “Come and talk.”

The throne room’s doors are open wide and our Father sits on the throne saying, “come and talk” . . . tell Me your worries. Pour out your heart. Tell me about the things that give you joy and the ones that don’t.

David didn’t hesitate. He replied to God’s invitation with these words:

And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”

Psalm 27:8b

Like us, David had good days and bad, victories and failures.

He was real. He was victorious in battle and danced in worship before the Lord. He was an adulterer and a murderer. He carried the responsibilities of a nation and the concerns of a father.

David was human. Yet, the Lord inspired the prophet to write the following about him:

The Lord has sought out a man after His own heart. The Lord has already appointed him to be the leader of His people.

1 Samuel 13:14

God knew His heart! He knew his struggles.

Prompting David to write:

O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.

Psalm 139:1

If God knows everything about us why does He says, “come and talk with me”?

Because He knows we need to consciously leave our cares and burdens with Him.

Jesus said it, too…

Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28

Bring your concerns, your troubles, your joys, your sorrows, your laughter, and your tears . . . bring it all to me and I will walk with you. I will help you carry it.

We all know what it’s like to have times of frustration, worry, anxiety, and fear. If that is the season you’re in right now or even if this is a time of joy and laughter…

Pause and hear the Lord say to you, “Come and talk with me.”

Tell Him, “Lord, I am coming.”

Praise Him for His grace, mercy, and love. Lay your guilt and shame before Him in Repentance. Ask Him to walk with you and help you carry every burden. Yield yourself to Him in faith. P.R.A.Y.

You don’t have to use fancy words or carefully controlled emotions. The Father who loves you personally and perfectly invites you to come. That’s it . . . just come and spend time with Him with words and emotions flowing freely.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.

Philippians 4:6

And those words come with a promise…

Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:7

You will experience God’s peace!

Why pray about everything? Because God promises peace of heart and mind . . . that’s freedom from fear, anxiety, worry, anger, shame, and so much more.

So, let’s go to the One who invites us to “come and talk”…

My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.”
My heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”

Father, You are my light and my salvation. (Psalm 27:1) You protect me from harm and danger. You are merciful and You answer my prayers. (Psalm 27:7) You are my Helper and You hold me close. (Psalm 27:9–10)

You invite me to come to You with every concern and need. (Psalm 27:8)

Father, You know everything about me. You know my emotions, my fears, anxieties, hopes, and dreams, and for my sake, You invite me to come and talk with You about everything and anything. Your love is so great, You encourage me to trust You to help me carry every part of my life. You promise to give me peace when I entrust my burdens to You. You promise to forgive me when I repent. And through faith in Jesus, You promise me a beautiful future with You forever.

Because of who You are, Lord, I come to You in prayer. I humbly ask You to forgive my failures and increase my faith. I ask that You will fill me with Your Spirit and strengthen me to fully trust You every day with everything. I love You, Lord. My heart hears Your invitation and my heart responds, “I am coming” to You in faith surrendering to You trusting Your grace, mercy, and love. Amen.

When the enemy tries to taunt and tempt you today with guilt, shame, worry, or anything else hear the Father inviting you to “come and talk with me.”

Know that behind those words the Father is saying, “I am listening. I care. I will help you. I want to give you perfect peace. You are my child. I love you.”

You don’t have to get your act together first. Just come as you are and sit with the Lord. “Be still and KNOW” Him. (Psalm 46:10) TRUST Him. He promises to give you everything you need.

God bless you and fill you with His perfect peace.

We would love to pray for you.

  7. Hi Deb, thank you for this post. Most of the translations have “Seek His face”, but I do like the idea of God inviting us to talk with Him, that is so amazing!

    1. I wear a bracelet every day that says “SEEK FIRST.” It is my daily prayer to SEEK the Lord’s face . . . to talk with Him, search His Word, and focus on Him with faith and hope. God bless you and thanks for adding this to the conversation!

    Isaiah 54:10

Thank you for this message. It is so nice to read and believe the things that God is saying to us. Matthew 11:28 has always been one of my favorite verses since the first time I read it. I was going through a very tough time in my life and my Bible fell open to that verse. It was if God was speaking loud and clearly to me.
Struggles in life are a guarantee, but I know that God is always there. I am very grateful. And I am so glad I found you with your wisdom.

    1. Thank you so very much, Susan! That’s one of my favorite verses, too! It is such a wonderful blessing to be able to run to Him through His Word and prayer whatever is going on in life . . . both good and difficult! God bless you!
